somebody on the nekoma boys volleyball team thought it would be funny to hang mistletoe above the clubroom door. it was all in good fun, taking advantage of a year old holiday tradition to laugh at the embarrassed and defensive expressions of his fellow teammates as they tried to escape from the obligatory kiss in a fluster.

it was kuroo. kuroo was the somebody who thought it would be funny.

it was actually holly, and he’d explain the differences in the plant without anyone asking or caring, but the tradition still stood. his mom had asked him to rummage around in a box tucked away with old decor to see if she could find anything remotely festive to celebrate the holiday season. as he was rummaging around through bunches of tangled strings of fairy lights with dead bulbs and old gingerbread kits, his eyes brightened in curiosity as he retrieved a small plastic holly plant from the very bottom of the pile. 

and he’s sure glad he went through with his plan to bring it into school, too, because the look on yaku’s face as he grew red with anger and shouted over his embarrassment at walking under the plant with lev was absolutely priceless. 

“now the two of you gotta kiss.” he laughed as he leaned against the lockers, arms crossed over his chest. yaku gave him a murderous look. 

“we aren’t doing anything!” 

lev, too amused with admiring and flicking the mistletoe (which was shorter than him), didn’t pay much mind to yaku’s disgust, though if had noticed, he probably would’ve taken a disappointedly offended stance at his suggestion. 

“guess you’re in a festive mood, kuroo.” kai muttered as he glanced at him with a sort of nervous smile, removing his jacket. kuroo chuckled. 

“just thought it would be fun. i thought you of all people would get a kick out of it, yamamoto.” kuroo turned toward his junior with the distinct blonde mohawk, who only scowled at him from over his shoulder as he opened his locker. 

“you better watch your back, kuroo. you’re next!” he pointed an accusatory finger at him, still disgruntled over the fact that he had (nearly) walked into the club room in sync with kenma. kuroo scoffed. 

“like you could get me!” 

“yeah? stand under the doorway, then!” yaku chimed in, shooting him an irritated glare. kuroo’s eyes darted between him and the mistletoe at the door. there was only a brief pause in between before kuroo strided toward the door and lingered at the threshold, teasingly taking steps in and out of the club room. yaku hissed. 

“see? can’t get me.” he smirked, and with that, the rest of his body, along with his face, disappeared behind the wall and heading to unlock the gym. 

on his return back, kuroo puffed out a breath of fog and shivered. it had snowed the night before, leaving a strong chill in the dry air, and he was eager to get inside the club room as quickly as possible to where the heat was. 

just as he was about to step inside, however, he heard a voice, and immediately recognizing it, his heart somersaulted in his chest.

“kuroo!” it cried, and it sounded close too, so close that kuroo instantly felt his face warm when he turned around and was immediately met with your face only inches from him.

your cheeks were rosy from the cold, even despite a scarf wrapped snug around your neck and a hat keeping your head warm. your jacket also zipped up to your chin, and he couldn’t help but grow increasingly nervous with every passing moment he spent looking at your eager expression. 

it only took kuroo a single semester’s worth of partnerwork for him to grow utterly hopeless around you--and everyone knew it. it was hard for anyone to miss his clumsy demeanour or tinted cheeks around you, so much so it was a miracle that somehow you hadn’t picked up on all the signs. 

fumbling with his hands, tripping over his words, prolonged eye contact; he shrinks when he thinks about how he's reduced to a klutz around you.

“kuroo, hey! i'm glad i was able to catch you! i have these papers from minaho sensei that you missed when you were on your away game.” 

you extended a hand to hand him said papers, slightly crumpled in your freezing grip. he quickly took them from you upon noticing. 

“oh, thank you so much. i don’t know what i would do without—“ 

“ooooooou, kuroo, you sly bastard! you had to have planned that!” 

the two of you both looked in toward the classroom at a disgruntled, shirtless yamamoto, who seemed so distressed you were almost taken aback. kuroo narrowed his eyes.  

“what the hell are you talking abo—-?”

and then the green above his head caught his peripherals, and amidst the cold, kuroo started to sweat. 

the two of you slowly looked up in unison at the mistletoe, the mischief device of kuroo’s own division, gleaming in the sun. you had stepped onto the threshold under the mistletoe, resulting in the two of you now both stuck having to fulfill in a year old tradition. 

truly, it was a miracle you didn’t catch the signs. 

yaku’s eyebrow shot up in satisfaction, fulfilling kuroo's previous position with his arms crossed over his shoulder and leaning against the lockers. “got you.” 

the two of you slowly turn toward one another with wide eyes and flustered expressions. 

truly, it wasn't so much a miracle that kuroo didn’t catch the signs either.

same anon who talk about wings au here are some more ideas/potential moments

winged people are rare and so they're aren't many stores for them so tenma has a few encounters with other winged players (like hayabusa) and or coach (like afuro) from a team that have to face next in a match

tenma , matatagi and minaho become friends more quickly cause they can relate so much with the struggles of taking care of their own wings and the feeling on flying through the air

it took awhile before tenma gave tsurugi another feather of his trust (because fake tsurugi had to where the feather to make sure tenma was convice he was tsurugi and accidentally took it when he left)

I like the idea of Tenma basically knowing (at least by face) a big part of other winged people of the area! Afuro made me thing about the customization of the clothes: with stretchy fabric, like jerseys and regulart-shirts, fixed wing slits work for pulling the wings through. with more formal wear, or fabrics that don't stretch, there could be different mechanics to get the fabric rest around the base of the wings; buttons like vests, or zippers/velcro, depending on the type of the clothing. I think Afuro would have very stylized and fashionable choices with these, showing off the tailoring instead of trying to make it look like a regular garnment!

tailoring can get expensive though, so I think outside of formal wear etc. the selection for kids and teens is mostly stretchy fabrics with standard wing slits. since the clothes won't fit them for long anyway, it isn't as usual to tailor clothes for youngsters. many also prefer baggy/loose coats and jackets, since stiff fabric can feel constraining for the wings, especially while they're still growing.

since the rarity of winged people, schools probably don't offer specific uniforms, but they're lenient with customizing it. I want to think that instead of paying a lot for a tailor, Aki helped Tenma to customize his gakuran! he can do the easy shirts himself, but the school uniform is from thicker fabric and sown to a specific structure, so it's a bit trickier to get neat. (Aki's not too crafty herself, but she does a good job with it!)

and yay for the galaxy bird gang! Tenma must've been so excited to get winged teammates, and even though the teams struggles to get together, they would surely bond a lot quicker than the rest. maybe Matatagi would get his character arc earlier, with Tenma getting closer to him faster, and pushing him more into the team?

also I think Matatagi would be a bit show-off with his wings, zooming too close past others and getting annoyed they can't keep up with him. he's very proud of his wings, and at first it looks as arrogance to others before they get to know him better. meanwhile, Minaho is kind of the opposite: he observes people and happenings silently and while he doesn't scare others on purpose by suddenly announcing his presence, he kind of finds it funny most of the times.

and oh, Tsurugi.. </3 sorry if this strays from your idea, but while I do think it would take a bit for Tenma to give out another feather, I can see it more as Tsurugi being devastated of losing his own in the first place (maybe he doesn't know the fake took it, and he thinks he lost it himself, and someone later tells him they saw the fake having it?) and he's feeling too guilty to tell Tenma about it.

at some point someone either accidentally reveals it or forces it out of Tsurugi, and after a bit Tsurugi and Tenma have a heart-to-heart and Tenma gives him another one. or something along the lines

Minaho

He plays the orange bean, and hes the only one who can be orange. His bean has the detective hat and post Ratoniik, his bean character has a pet UFO following around.

As a crewmate, he never does his tasks, he always follow everyone around and watches them really closely and by the second round, he usually can tell who one of the impostors is, everyone has to yell at him to do his tasks. like. Matatagi has to call an emergency meeting "DO YOUR FUCKING TASKS MINAHO!" so he does his tasks.

As the impostor, he always pretends to do his tasks and follows people in the beginning, his favourites to do are stack kills like during card swipes. His favourite area to kill is Electrical and everyone knows not to go there when Minaho is in it, no matter if he's a crewmate or impostor. He casually gaslights people when he's an impostor btw.

His favourite role is the Scientist

2. Sakura

Look, she's having the time of her life, ok? She's average at the game and having fun. Usually, she's the first impostor out. EXCEPT when she's with Matatagi as Impostor's, they fucking kill it and its kinda scary how well they do,

also her bean chacrater is pink with a little flower :D

3. Matatagi

he DOES NOT want to be there. But, hey he's lying if he says he's having a bad time, cause its the complete opposite.

He's the first one who gets his tasks done, then after that he just looks at admin and would follow random people to creep them out a little,

As Imposor meanwhile, he's an absolute menace, 2nd best probably. He's scarily good at lying and pretending, but Minaho somehow always sniffs him out and gets him ejected, he hates it, that's why he always targets Minaho first. God forbid the both of them are impostors,

His favourite role is Shapehifter and his bean is the black one and is plain, by that, I mean he has no custamization.

4. Konoha

She's just having the time of her life, she didn't really want to play, but then caved. She's never killed as crewmate and is usually to nervous too kill anyone as Impostor, but when she gets paired up with any of the girls/Kusaka when she is one, she kills it.

She loves the chacrater customization too! She's the dark green bean

5. Kusaka

He's a murder hobo as an impostor ngl. Pretty average in general, ALWAYS sticks with Konoha no matter what his role is, he's just there to have fun and support everyone

6. Tetsukado

"Yeah I killed him," - Tetsukado after he was accused of killing someone,

He's ALSO a murder hobo, he just loves being a menace in general ngl. Sometime's he's feeling like doing tasks, sometimes he doesn't, etc. Depends on what he wants to do,

7. Zanakurou

He's really good at the game, to absolutely no one's surprise, he sometimes like to play detective with Minaho,

As Impostor, he's probably 3rd best. He's good at acting like a crewmate, but sometimes, he just forgets to kill people lol. He's the cyan bean

8. Manabe

He. sucks at this game. He plays it out of spite and also because he wants to win as impostor/live as crewmate once and he can die happy.

He dies first as crewmate and gets ejected first as impostor, and its not because he can't lie, no, its because Minaho is able to convince literally everyone to do it. He hates it.

His favourite role is the scientist, hes the yellow bean

9. Ibuki

He's 50/50 at this game. Sometimes hes good at it, sometimes he's bad at it. Like Manabe, he's playing out of Spite, its what drives him.

Whenever he's impostor, he immediately follows Shindou and no matter where they are or whoever is with them, he just kill him. It's really funny overall, everyone gets a good laugh out of it,

He's the dark green bean

10. Shinsuke

He's a little shit ngl. Sometimes, he just accuses random people for the hell of it, he acts like an innocent little guy when he's not.

11. Shindou

He didn't want to play at first, but then after watching Tenma play game he immediately joined in, got impostor, killed Ibuki and left the game.

Next time they play, he played seriously and for fun, he tries to figure things out and usually sticks with everyone from Raimon, he's pretty average, but when he's impostor, he immediately targets ibuki,

12. Tenma

He plays a lot like Konoha, so... not really gonna elaborate,

13. Tsurugi

The small time he was there before he got kidnapped, he was genuinely having fun, playing among us. shares 2nd best impostor with Matatagi, casually manipulating and gaslighting people,

14. Aoi

She's surprisingly really good at the game. She loves playing as an engineer and in general being support, she usually sticks with Minori when playing as crewmate,

15. Minori, not potomuri.

She's a lot like Tetsukado, she's aggressive, she's loud, she makes her voice heard, and usually sticks with Aoi and/or Minaho. She's a menace as an Impostor, but she always gets caught by someone, unfortunately,
