minecraft community forgets way too often that there is literally just one biological sex. like gender identity is a thing obviously but canonically every single living thing is a “male” and “female” at the same time. this was like the only good thing notch did while he still controlled his own game can we start capitalizing on this. it would be neat to see noor with a little mustache methinks it suits them

reviving this idea because I can't find the original post I made???? okay here we go remaking it with more story.

Jesse is Alex and Herobrine's child. They were separated from Herobrine when he had to flee back to the Nether in fear of rumors of him being back in the overworld were. He entrusted Steve to look after them both, and bid them all farewell.

They don't really remember him, but they have a few memories of Herobrine. He, however, thought about them a lot, and how he misses them deeply. He wished he could have done something different that day, maybe even asking Alex to go with him.

Years Later, after all the events of MCSM, Radar comes sprinting into Jesse's office, saying there's someone lingering around the outskirts of the town walls, and that he hopes they would go and look ("Since... you're the mayor n all... not because I'm too scared to take a peak myself...").

It's Herobrine, who had heard from reuniting with Alex that Jesse had been doing all of these heroic things, and saving the world several times over, and he wanted to see them. He didn't really consider the fact that he had probably scared a lot of civilians who might have seen him.

Here's some other various thoughts for this:

The original Order of the Stone were the ones who made the stories about Herobrine, framing him as some kind of cryptid wanderer. They're all shitting themselves when he meets them (Ivor tells Soren, and Gabriel is like 'isnt that..?????' and the three of them are like OH NOOOOOO)

Jesse's friends don't know about Herobrine too much, since the stories has mostly died out when they would have heard them. Lukas has (Book nerd), but doesn't completely connects the dots until he finds the old tale again and is like ohhhh! and then has no idea what hes supposed to do with this information

Speaking of Lukas, he lets Alex and Steve be his beta readers, and they both just love reading about how admired Jesse is, and the amazing adventures they went on. Lukas asks them to please be honest if they think its bad, but Alex says they just love it so much

They also get to have the first copy of his book when its finished and they keep it on its own shelf in their library

Another awkward reunion is with Romeo and Xara, who also shit themselves when they see him too. Mainly because Romeo had been a menace when they last met, and Herobrine had threatened him to get in order.

Since reuniting, Steve and Herobrine have been catching up about a lot of things, mainly Steve telling Hero about what hes missed in basically everything. They also get to tell him how much they surprisingly missed him (since they weren't super best friends or anything before, it was more of like... a mutual acceptance).

im 100% going to do art for this AU thing with my interpretations and such for the guys. anyway yeah this is my official reviving of this i will be doing more this time (an AO3 story??? nono i have like 3 already idk if i can do another one)

For a moment I thought I wasn't going to post this BUT then I was like nO so here I am.

This is the thing i said i wrote at 1am and really liked and might become something more but I think I'm actually just gonna do my MCSM Au instead since I had a mini brainstorm for it

anyway uhh enjoy whatever this is !!

They'd become separated.

“Oh... shit...”

Alex spun around a few times, hoping to catch a glimpse of her partners blue shirt between the thick trees.

“Where... Where did you go?!” She cried into the darkness. “Steve?!”

She walked the direction she remembered coming from, but everything began to look the same in panic. She didn't know where she was going, but walking seemed appropriate in her mind.

For a moment, they thought they saw a spot of blue in the distance. Readjusting their viewpoint, they had their hopes confirmed.

“Hey!!” They shouted, trying to get his attention.

He came into view, standing out with the trees. He was facing away, into the forest, most likely looking for them too.

“Hey, you dummy!” She joked, “I was looking for you! Where did you walk off to?”

He didn't respond. He didn't even move.

“I'm talkin' to you...!” She called again, stepping closer. But quickly stopped.

She noticed that his clothes were darker, and his skin had a weird dusty grey tint to it. He looked haggered and his shirt was more torn. He was also missing his backpack, one he never went anywhere without.

“...Steve?”

…

“Alex?!” He couldn't believe he'd lost them. “Alex, where are you?!”

It was dark. Anything could have happened to them. Mobs were plently in places like this. They could be hurt, or stuck in a cave somewhere. Alex wasn't one to be frightened easily, but what if she had stumbled into something that would have?

Steve felt his heart begin to pound. He picked a direction and instantly began to run. Weaving in and out of the trees, trying to watch out for anything trying to lunge or fire at him. He scanned the area, and briefly caught sight of glowing, ginger hair among the trees. He immediately dashed over.

“Oh my Gods… I was looking all over for you...” He stopped to catch his breath, “How did you run off so fast?!”

She didn't respond. She didn't even move.

“Are... you actually mad at me?” He asked, “Cmon please we don't have time for this! It's dark and-”

He began to notice that they were wearing a different shirt; a green polo instead of their usual tunic. They were also definitely taller, and more tattered looking. Scars and grazes that covered their arms were seemingly gone.

“...Alex?”

Steve slowly reached a hand out to them, but was beated to it when they turned around.

A chill when down his spine and his stomach churned. It was someone who looked like Alex, and could probably pass as looking identical to them if it was someone who didn't know them like Steve did...

... but anyone would be able to tell it wasn't truly them...

... with empty eyes like that...

“Who...” He tried to catch his breath again, “Who are you..?”

He didn't get a response, only a twisted kind of smile. Like there was some amusement in his fear. Unconsciously, he had also began to take wide steps backwards.

“What... what's going on..?” He stammered, “What do you want..?”

Whatever it was seemed to take delight in his fear, even begining to laugh a little. It turned around fully to look at him. It seemed to be analysing him back too, still grinning.

I have to get out of here...

Steve sprinted in the opposite direction, looking over his shoulder occasionally, while also looking where he was trying to run. It didn't look like it was following him, only watching as he ran away.

He ran until he felt safe enough to slow down. Which wasn't too far though, he was still supposed to be looking for Alex and if he left the Forest completely that would mean leaving them behind... which was just something he couldn't do.

Steve turned around ans scanned the treeline where he had come from. Nothing.

But he didn't feel comfortable in looking away yet, slowly backing away. If it was going to chase him, now would be a great opportunity to take advantage of-

He walked into something. Something his size. It felt like a person, but at this point he couldn't be sure.

Slowly turning around, he was once again met with ginger hair. He almost screamed, but whoever it was this time also spun around in fear too.

Terrified regular eyes looked back at him.

“S-Steve?!”

“Alex!”

They prompt embraced each other, out of the need for some kind of comfort. Steve felt the grip Alex had on him from the way she gripped onto his shirt.

“Are you okay?!” He panted, still completely out of breath from all the running he had to do.

She looked just as haunted by whatever had scared her. Alex had also clearly been running too, probably also away from something.

“I... I don't know I... I just want to get out of here..!” They gasped.

Steve took as best of a breath as he could, “Me too... Cmon lets-”

His attention was caught by something approaching from where Alex had clearly come from. It was the glowing eyes again... but this time...

It looked like himself instead.

“What the-?”

He instinctively turned around. He unfortunately had his fears confirmed when whatever had scared him had also arrived.

“Oh Gods-” Alex caught sight of it too.

Without even saying another word, they had both agreed on the same thing. They locked eyes.

We have to get the fuck out of here.

They both took off immediately. Running as fast as they could and aiming to go as far as they could.

When they gradually left the forest, they kept going.

Not stopping for anything.

Not waiting around at all.

They stuck together the entire run home.

"Steve Minecraft is stupid" actually just statistical error. The entire polycube is stupid in their own special ways <3
