Based on the Dani Umpi novel of the same name, Miss Tacuarembó tells the classic story of a small town girl with big, Hollywood dreams. But in the tiny, freakishly religious Uruguayan town of Tacuarembó, these dreams are simply unacceptable.

This weekend you can not only see Miss T but get some face time with writer/director Sastre, who’s dropping by the Gables Cinema for two events. He’s the Guest of Honor at Miss T’s Red Carpet Opening Night on Friday, October 5. You can see the film at 7:00 pm or 10:00 pm; a reception and Q & A with Sastre takes place between screenings.

On Saturday, October 6 at 5:00 pm the Gables Cinema will present An Afternoon with Martin Sastre, a free event featuring a screening of Sastre’s short films and videos. (Among them: “Diana, The Rose Conspiracy” in which Diana, Princess of Wales is found alive in Montevideo and all the Diana conspiracy theories swirl together in a “single conspiranoid plot.”
