As you know, I believe Adrien started to realise his feelings for Marinette some episodes ago, around Mr. Pigeon 72 or something. 

And I’m thinking here. Mari tells Alya she’s stuck in the elevator, but says nothing about Adrien until Alya asks. So even if she likes him, she doesn’t mention him. Adrien on the other hand, straight up tells Nino he’s with Marinette. Let’s not forget Mari warns Alya because she needs help with her Ladybug issues. Adrien must be telling Nino just beacuse he knows his friend worries, maybe? But I’m a shipper so I’ll say it’s something more asuahsuahsuah

So considering what I said and also the way he looks at her in many of these scenes, I dare to say Adrien already knows/has accepted he has a crush on Mari, told Nino, and now he’s texting his friend like “I’m stuck in the elevator with my crush!! 😳😳 ”

A little anguish for Adrien/Chat noir, most of all for the last chapter where I saw him a little disappointed😭

It makes me sad not to see chat noir in action, it's like no one needs him… kajshdajsd NOOO

but well for now let's enjoy how s4 goes and how alya is a goddess in each chapter we see🙏

definitely optymagi is one of my favorite chapters of s4, my God after watching the episode I was shaking, what the fuck ?!, Let's hope we see chat noir more screen time in the next episodes or I'm going to cry

Let’s talk about events in Guiltrip that make more sense now that we have context from episodes before and after. SPOILERS FROM SEASON 4.

At first, Guiltrip comes off as dry. Very much giving season 1 energy with a dash of character development for Rose. This character development once again adds to the potential LadyNoir rift as Chag Noir sees yet another superhero that could replace him. His brewing sadness/loneliness was particularly expressed in the fact that he almost UNALIVED himself when he was feeling guilty in the sentimonster. (Idk how strong his cataclysm would be if he did it to himself, but in my head it makes sense that he would have died)

He, however, received words of affirmation from Ladybug and then decided not to do that. I know that seems a bit too easy, but Adrien stills struggles with self-made worthiness so a lot of it comes from external sources like Ladybug or maybe even the validation he gets from helping others. This scene is probably foreshadowing how he’s going to end up feeling as a result of unintentional exclusion by Ladybug because she’s probably going to rely on Rena Rouge/Alya more. We already got a taste of that brewing sadness in Optigami and it’s just going to get worse now that Alya is a permanent miraculous holder. (Leading into akumatization theories because of that sadness)

Lastly, I remember people speculating that the Adrienette crumbs we got was from Adrien’s POV because of a Marichat episode prior. While that could still be true, we now know from Mr. Pigeon 72 that Adrien is starting to fall for Marinette anyway. We also saw that Marinette was able to communicate without stuttering as much and their dynamic may resemble that of LadyNoir’s because of that. We catch a first glimpse of their teamwork as they’re comforting Juleka- I’m sure Adrien internalized that as well. With the potential rift in LadyNoir, it makes sense that Adrinette would grow stronger. This also sets precedent for the almost-reveal in Optigami. Trust in their civilian forms is growing and we saw how the adrienette interactions in Guiltrip contribute to this.

Overall, ‘Guiltrip’ seemed to serve as a light episode for these developments. I guess we’ll get more insight once ‘Gabriel Agreste’ and the 10th episode are released.

OK BUT I CANNOT BEGIN TO UNPACK ALL THE FORESHADOWING AND IMPLICATIONS OF CHAT NOT BEING NEEDED IN THIS BATTLE????

I am TELLING y’all that the writers are DELIBERATELY ISOLATING ADRIEN AND HIS SENSE OF SELF WORTH ONCE AGAIN AND THIS IS PROOF! If I am correct in the sentiment the second half of the season will focus more on Adrien, we may very well see him feeling more and more unneeded and guilt at the thought that he is just “in the way”, and as a result he may very well continue to isolate himself more and more with the help of his father, which will likely lead to the Adrien Agreste breakdown of the century.
