Judo Martial Arts Port St Lucie FL Tsuri Komi Goshi Tsuri Komi Goshi is one of the original 40 throws of Judo as taught by Judo's founder Jigoro Kano. It belongs to the second group, Dai Nikyo, of the traditional throws, Gokyo (no waza), of Kodokan Judo. Its part of the current 67 Throws of Kodokan Judo. It is considered as a hip throwing technique, Koshi-Waza. The entry in tsuri komi goshi must be very fast, almost a jump. A very important thing is the quick whip of the hips across in front of your opponent. Your first foot, steps across and in, and you other foot is in the air following it. Make sure to really bend your knees, so that your belt is about a foot lower than your opponents. It will be much easier to perform this because of the strong upward lift, and partly because of the bent knees. Remember that in the entry the weight must be shifted from the first foot in to the other one. Meaning that that your weight must be quickly changed to your following foot as it drives in between your opponent’s feet.
The common mistake in tsuri komi goshi is in the off-balance and entry of the technique. If you do not achieve a good off balance, then the opponent is able to move at the crucial second and your hip will not get them. Making sure that you pull him up and forward so that he's trapped with the off balance part of this technique, you can still not pull of this technique if your hips are not lower than your opponents. 1055 SE Holbrook CT, STE 7, Port St Lucie, FL 34952 www.bvtpsl.com 772-626-6500 Please Subscribe, Like and Share these videos so I can keep making them for you. ************************************** Self Defense Instructor Mixed Martial Arts Trainer & Surf Conditioning Coach.
