HI! since the last time we talked i have become significantly more normal about the international committee of the red cross (this is a lie)

OKOK can we trade icre thoughts. because i have icrc thoughts and i want to hear other peoples icre thoughts.

so the big thing that i have latched onto for characterization about the icrc is that she Absolutely Cannot Give the Impression of Choosing Sides because if she does that governments might bar her from her patients. she says over and over on her website that the only factor she considers when deciding who to treat first is need. she also has special exemption from being called as a witness to the international criminal court because people also aren't gonna let you see signs of abuse on their personifs if they think you're gonna be taking pictures to use as evidence in a trial against them. which basically means she Can't Talk About What she Sees Ever.

relatedly she is treated in some aspects like a country. she has diplomatic immunity, switzerland (and by extension icrc's mom geneva) is very strict about not interfering with her work, and she can be a protecting power (a thing in international relations where if two countries are too pissed at each other to have embassies on each others land they appoint a third country (the protecting power) to represent their interests to each other in a special section of their embassies which now that i think about it would be a really funny perspective to tell a personif enemies to lovers story from but i digress). and so she is additionally isolated in a way i don't think a lot of other orgspirits are

what i'm trying to say is this woman has a thousand yard stare to end thousand yard stares and she's. eerily quiet when she's not consoling people. she is a little ball of secondhand trauma

HII I’M GLAD YOU’RE INTERESTED OMG so uh to start off my Representatives have free will to an extent. It just depends on if they can express their personal view in the public or not, but yeah they’re sentient beings and therefore are capable of thinking for themselves and having personalities lolll

I have a few doodles of her and I think I can show them all the way through while I’m talking about her!!

ICRC(who uses all pronouns, but I’m gonna use she/her here for consistency) is the type of person who is absolutely selfless. Really, she didn’t ask for anything for herself, but she’s willing to give everything to make sure people will be safe. She didn’t even ask to have a house 😭 but Switzerland and Geneva were kind enough to give a mansion to house her. She is quite well known and respected among the countries and international organisations, given her age and what she does.(her relations with other Representatives will be elaborated later)

But despite that, she had Geneva Conventions violated on herself many times(shown below)

Physical health-wise, she lost a few fingers and her left leg, I like to think she might have accidentally stepped on a landmine or some sort, that did affect her mental health greatly as she lost some mobility, but that didn’t hinder her core personality as a selfless person overall.

She makes it clear that she doesn’t take biases when deploying herself and her people in the battlefields, but unfortunately, some people may not fully understand that aspect, so they may accuse her of biases and not treating people equally regardless of the sides they fight for. The amount of disturbing and depressing things she has seen and witnessed has bottled up her mind overtime, but she’s still brave enough to keep it going. Even if it may possibly cost yet another lost of mobility and mental stability for herself.

One thing that always absolutely breaks her is when the soldiers call her and other ICRC nurses “mum” though.

Like the picture above, sometimes it can get too much for her. The constant ignorance of the ‘international community’ over wars and conflicts is what has been pushing her to the edge. There has been a few records of her breaking down while presenting evidences to the international courts such as ICJ and ICC, and it wasn’t the most pleasant experience for those who have witnessed it, since it’s incredibly rare for her to speak her true feelings. She has been feeling suicidal but also not exactly? It’s more of a passive thing, she won’t actively seek death herself, but won’t resist if the ICRC will have to go one day, if that day actually happens, she’s more than ready to accept her fate, even if other people may not want her to go. She also likes to make dark jokes about her disabilities and health so that’s…another thing.

Speaking about relations between ICRC and the international community, she generally has quite a stable relationship with Representatives, countries and orgs alike, regardless of the status of countries’ governments, since country Representatives, although work within their respective governments, are still individuals capable of personal thoughts, even if their governments may still bar her people from apparent biases they accuse her, the Representatives would try to help and assure her nonetheless, even if they can’t do anything. Especially having special relations with Switzerland and Geneva, whom she considers her parent figures(not biologically, though, she was born from…somewhere, people still don’t know), though she’s closer to Geneva, Switzerland can still acts like her parent because countries like him can assert direct responsibilities toward the international organisations that are based in his country, but he also makes it clear that he and his(and by extension his cantons’) government will not interfere with her works unless absolutely necessary. She also regularly meets up with other Geneva-based organisations, especially the WHO and ILO, she has (personal)close bonds with those two because:

1. For WHO, she used to act like his mentor, helping him on processing medical stuffs and getting to know medical tools for various types of procedures. She’s also kinda like his parent figure when he was young so that’s another factor lol

2. For ILO, there was one point where little ILO had to live in the same mansion as her while waiting for his own headquarters(then CWR: Centre William Rappard) to be built, little ILO had unfortunately witnessed the horror on her body from her work, and he felt so bad for her 🥀, moreover he had to witness *even more* horror in his own life, that was, a tragic incident that made him lost all his limbs. So the ICRC had to take great care of him(if you ask what about the League of Nations—well in that case he already had his own people to guild him in the still-in-construction Palais des Nations..), once he was able to move out, they still kept close contacts with each other, even after when he had to move from his old headquarters in CWR to a new headquarters that is nearer to other organisations(currently the CWR houses WTO: World Trade Organisation). (No picture for this one unfortunately)

She has also collaborated with other organisations that may not be *that* related to her works, such as the ITU, UNDRR, and WMO, and in all those times she’s the most senior friend of them all lol(even older than the ITU, since ITU was born in 1865 while she was born in 1863)

So yeah that’s about my ramble for my ICRC lol, she’s certainly one interesting person.

may we trade oersonif thoughts once again……… are any of yours in romantic relationships. in my personifverse i know for sure that france and germany are married (they genuinely like each other the EU is both their child and marriage certificate), sydney and melbourne did something to produce canberra, and icrc and ifrc got symbolically married in 1997 to prove to their family that they were gonna get their shit together but there’s nothing between them they’re just colleagues. or maybe there is something. theyd never admit it if there was though something something professionalism……………………………. enemies to lovers??? i guess???

You know I like to keep this aspect vague in my AU. Personally I don’t really go to specifics when it comes to romantic relationships, as I myself is an aroace.

Both my CHs and orgs aren’t born with reproductive systems, they’re just some sort of magical beings that got manifested(CHs especially, as orgs are man-made), though they can still be influenced by human emotions, and thus, love.

Though I would say there are some *really* close relationships that you can consider romantic?? Although many of them are simply just a headcanon based on implication about closeness of the entities in real life, lol. But I wouldn’t specify if they actually got married per se.

First and foremost, I have ISO and IEC, you might already know what ISO stands for, and I made her a Swiss-Russian perfectionist girly, born and raised in Geneva. For IEC, that’s International Electrotechnical Commission, she is a British woman who moved to Geneva around the time ISO was born, at one point they shared a house….lol. Both are standard bodies, and both have been working together for quite a longggg time…they even have matching logos sometimes so I like to consider that. ITU (International Telecommunications Union) is their third wheel btw/silly

And there’s also IUGG and WMO, so IUGG stands for International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, he a member of International Science Council. WMO stands for World Meteorological Organisation, she is a member of the UN family. Both of them have sworn to each other that they will always keep a close tie with one another in around 70s, so I consider that their marriage year, I don’t know I might just be silly lolol

For countries, I like to imply closer relationships(not exactly romantic) on France/UK(both are women), Portugal/UK(man/woman), USA/China(both men), France/Germany(woman/man), ahhh I don’t think I remember more 🥹

hi random icrc thought of the day shes actually kind of terrible at public speaking. shes made for one on one talk not speeches. when she negotiates she pays really really close attention to the other persons body language and tone of voice and adjusts her arguments accordingly and if put in front of a crowd she Will try to do that to everybody in said crowd and she will a) fail b) become overwhelmed. she is absolutely incapable of improv she needs to be reading off a script

i would like to hear about your amnesty international…. the author of the book im reading abt the icrc keeps comparing the 2 of them

Ooo this characterisation actually makes so much sense! I can see ICRC having to really be careful with her mannerisms whenever she gets put into a conversation, I think she’s just very aware like that. Improvisation of speeches when she talk can be really risky lol.

I get the comparison I think, both are meant to be focused on human rights, though ICRC is more on actions, actually implementing themselves to the field, while Amnesty is more vocal, calling out the government through social medias, protesting the countries’ human rights violations, and sending letters they recieved from their volunteers and followers, just feel like they have some common goals but *very* different methods of executions

As for my Amnesty…he’s a little magical appearance-wise, he’s basically a living candle wax…his whole body is made of wax…even his hat…I think it’s pretty hilarious. He also has some barbed wires wrapped around his arms and legs, don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt that much, and it’s unclear why they’re there, did he put them on himself? Is it some sort of a curse?, idk man I’m rambling nonsense at this point so anyways

I made him British-Jewish, I just think there could be some sort of metaphors about some of his skeptics focusing on his ethnicity rather than his doings, or crazier thing, a whole conspiracy theory that further fuel the narrative of “the Jews are controlling the world”. Another simpler reason is that his founder was Jewish and I want to pay homage for that, too.

Personality-wise….not the best person to get close on a personal level. Although he has the image of the well respected and reputable human rights organisation, there has been allegations of the org’s workplace being quite toxic and racist, thus I’d say it’s best to keep him as your colleague rather than your friend, or else you might feel your human rights being threatened(lol)

He’s the closest with Human Rights Watch(HRW), a close friend a continent away since HRW lives in New York while Amnesty in London. HRW has certainly had put up with Amnesty’s true colours, being bullied and drove up the wall and all(did I mention HRW actually has traits of BPD? He can never truely trusts anyone and can hate somebody just because of a single bad thing they’ve done, he basically sees the world in black and white), but he keeps tolerating him because in the end they still have to work together a lot. Childhood best friends core or whatever you’ll call it.

Yeah that’s about my Amnesty lol, and look at this little work of the duo, aren’t they such a good team?

It’s the abbreviation for “My Neighbour United Nations” which is the name of my personification AU lol

Yes, yes, it may sounds a little corny, but the reason why it has this name to begin with was because I originally made this AU with UN and the orgs under the UN as the main focus

Now I want to expand my scope, but I have to admit the UN folks are still quite an integral part of this, so yeah, that’s basically it :D
