I still think it's really funny that the "toothpaste"/"listerine" flag I (partially?) made back in 2016 based off an anon's suggestion took off and had so much discourse over it. Because I literally had NO idea about it until years later when I stumbled upon it randomly (iirc) because nobody said anything to my face about it ever. Even now I don't think anyone has said anything to me outside of direct responses of posts I made about it.

Like there's literally everyone across every spectrum of everything either loving or hating the flag for completely different reasons, some of which aren't even remotely true. But somehow it almost never reached me.

I'm just here playing in my mud pit trying to help people make and find flags and terms that make them happy while there's a whole war raging over (at least) one of them around the corner.

Anyway, I got burned out a while ago from making flags because people kept making like 100000 a day with photos and copyrighted images on them and I couldn't keep up so I don't know all the flags the youth are using anymore.

Anyway I just wanted to reiterate that I'm NOT a truscum. One of them took the flag and reuploaded it stating it was the "official" gay man flag and I guess that's when it exploded and people just assumed they made it?

I also still 100% support non-dysphoric/transitioning trans people, bi/pan lesbians/gay men, anyone with "weird" or "contradictory" labels, people with 500 genders or 0 genders or -62 genders, you can detransition, retransition, LMNOP-transition, you can change your sex but not your gender, you can reclaim your slurs, you can do whatever you want forever, just don't be an ass and for the love of cats stop making overly complex flags, they're supposed to be simple for a reason!

and because of this i want to take a proper moment to fully and genuinely thank them for everything they’ve done, and for adding so much to my life; creativity, knowledge, perspective and more, all in suprisingly short time we’ve known each other.

 i’m so, so glad that we crossed paths in the RPC and created this together out of a lowkey wholesome-spiteful dedication to our vision of a healthy creative hobby world — we-eternal really is the lovechild of both of us.   hermie’s impressive mastery, love and knowledge of greek mythology and lore has been more than important, it’s the entire basis and anchor for this roleplay to exist and develop the way it is.   i know they give me props all the time for graphics and such, but the real truth is that it was hermie’s ideas to bring in greek mythology way back when we were finding our feet as a duo, i have been straight blessed to have learned so much about it from them, they are the outstanding and brilliant brains through and through — so i believe none of us would be here living our best modern-fantasy lives if not for this uniquely talented and passionate person that i’m blessed enough to have as my modmin partner in crime ✨

Hello. I'm sorry for bothering, I'm just doing some detective work in defense of the ocean gay flag (or toothpaste, depending on who you ask), but I hit a block in the road. Basically, people are claiming that the blue and green flag is bad because the creator made an antiblack flag. Now, I already found the threads and blogpost made by the creator of the flag saying that they never made the racist flag. But one of his tweets imply that people are accusing him of that because they are mistaking him for one of your mods (which makes some sense, considering that his flag is similar to an initial concept made by you and is also archived in you DA gallery).

But then that also implies that you guys are credited for said racist flag, which I find it hard to believe. This is also where the trail ran cold. I did try to look at the da archive just to be sure, but it's like 800+ pages of flags and icons. I did try to reverse google it, but no matches came up. So I wanted to know if you guys made this flag or know who did.

Again, sorry for bothering, and also sorry for rambling. I have no idea how I fell down this rabbit hole, I'm not even a man, I just want to know the truth behind these claims and for people to stop attacking our gay siblings for using the ocean flag.

No we don't have any antiblack flags or any race-related (or age-related, as I've seen some people accuse us of) flags.

So the initial concept I made was stolen by some rando truscum and passed off as the "official" gay man flag. [More info here.] So it's possible they made (or stole) something. Or it could be completely baseless since we've been accused of having problematic flags before with no sources. I've also seen blogs that take random pride flags and give new shitty definitions to them, so it could also be that.

Do you have any more info on that flag? the bottom 3 stripes look like the polysexual flag but washed out.

No? I haven't had a reddit account in years, and unless this is the account of Mod Hermy from ask-pride-color-schemes (who spoke on the original flag here), this is someone Lying On The Internet Again

EDIT: This seems to be someone who made a similar flag and claims they made theirs with "the exact same meanings as [this one]" to claim I "plagiarized"

You can see the original post they made in this reblog chain from June 10th 2021, and the edited version with the meanings of this flag copy pasted onto their post from September 9th, 2021. I also can't find any other reblogs with those meanings or even mentions of them prior to the Sept. 9th, 2021 one above. (Wayback Machine links)

Which this MLM flag looks much more similar too than mine does. Mod Hermy's flag was also made and posted earlier than this flag on August 24, 2016 (a point people mention to them on the reddit post they don't seem to have addressed, see the first link on this post) so that's still the original flag, however this person is claiming to have made "the first flag" and as I mentioned, wants "credit" for "plagiarism".

I find it very hard to believe they didn't reference Hermy's first design or that they were completely unaware of it (since it was pretty much the only flag design that popped up consistently pre-2019 for gay men.) I originally had a section here about convergent flag evolution trying to be charitable, but seeing as they're trying to actively claim they made the meanings that both I + my followers came up with together, I've decided to remove it.

This really is just someone Lying On The Internet and I'm not sure why. Getting "credit" and "recognition" for the flags I host here has honestly just gotten me a lot of harassment and has left a negative impact on my mental health at certain points.
