Thoughts for Today

Aloha Friday! I am glad to see the last workday of the week. This week has been enough. It has been like a rabid squirrel of emotion. More like a stabby squirrel. Face it, a squirrel that needs to live somewhere else.

I woke up in a bad mood. My foot hurt, my back ached, and the dog alarm clock pissed me off. Can I just sleep in a bit and not be woke up by 5:30 am? Soon enough the days will be longer and the dog will want me up at 4:30 am. What crops can I plant at that dam time?

I had to pray that my attitude would change. Lucky for me, there was a funny on Facebook. Johnny Carson had Art Carney on the his show back in 1974 and it made me laugh. He had Burt Reynold’s on that show too and Burt’s laugh made me laugh. Humor does change attitudes.

As I drove home last night after work, I had stopped for food and while waiting for the food, I looked over Facebook. Sad news from it…….. more sad news. As I drove home, I thought how I am sick and tired of sad news. So over and done with it. The struggle is real. How to find happy in the midst of sad? One must push on and keep a positive attitude but it makes me grumpy and I’m so over so much of the bad things of this world.

When I got home, I got greeted by Grumpy Cat. She makes me smile with that look upon her face. Her viewpoint of life is simple……. eat, snooze on her heated pad with a heat lamp overhead, and do whatever she pleases. She doesn’t care what people think of her. She relies on me for her food. She is quite lovie with me when she wants. And then I think……… hey, God’s in charge. I rely on Him for my bread and butter. I can just rest in the assurance that He’s got everything in His control.

I can dwell on the sad but I’m not going to do so. I’ll pray. I’ll give it to God. Today’s a new day. I will find the good in each day and march on without allowing sadness to fill in the cracks of life.

They say that people feel better when they find joy and happiness. Humor makes the world go round. It heals the soul when you have a great laugh. People must think that I’m off my nut at some of the things I laugh at. I’ll call my mother in law and she’s even crazier than I am. We laugh over things that probably make us look insane. But it sure in the heck helps put you in a better mood.

Comedy that once was around us has been replaced due to the offended crowd. Guess what? I shall offend you as much as I can with comedy. Hey, if comedy offends them, whatever you do will offend them. I am not politically correct. I like the comedy of Monte Python, Mr. Bean, and Spongebob Squarepants. Oh, I have a list of things to watch that’ll make me laugh until I wet my pants. My favorite movie is “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World”. It has so many comedians that were so wonderful. I laugh at the same funny things in that movie. The one part where the guy kicks the bucket. Or when Ethel Merman deals with her son. Phil Silvers when he’s stuck in a rut with his car. Yes, I’ve watched this movie over and over. I’ll watch it this weekend during the super bowl. Why? Because I don’t like foooosball (Waterboy reference). Comedy helps me cope in the struggles of real life.

Well, time to hit the shower. I must clean my shower and find it easier when I clean it and then clean me. Hey, whatever works, right? And then a good breakfast of eggs and bacon.

I hope you find a funny in your day and a smile on your face. Who said laughter is the best medicine?
