have determined that my role within my current group project is Countering The Asshole Mature Student

like i get it, suddenly being stuck around a bunch of mostly 18-22 year olds when you're 38 is a struggle, but this asshole CONSTANTLY talks over us, constantly cuts in to interject shit that's always completely useless - im serious when i say he's not had one good contribution so far. and yet he continues to see himself as over us because we're younger and will LITERALLY CUT PEOPLE OFF WHILST THEYRE SPEAKING TO SAY SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT its infuriating

most of my team is very placid. they're generally pretty quiet and/or chill, and our other teammate who likes to talk/lead a lot is far too polite (and actually has good ideas and is nice so he's allowed). luckily i am a Bitch and i refuse to take his shit lmao

every time he rudely comes in with an interjection i shut him down. this dumbass has never owned a cat yet keeps trying to give us Cat Ownership Tips (we're making a cat feeder) that are completely incorrect so I'll firmly tell him he's wrong; not rudely, ill wait for him to finish and then bluntly and quickly go 'thats wrong; heres why'. this has led to him antagonising me which is absolutely hysterical to me, like huh you can't deal with a little criticism when you're being rude and not even fucking saying anything in the first place? bc im game

today Aleksei (the very polite dude) was leading a brainstorming session and he specifically asked me, as the most experienced programmer in the group, if I thought it'd be possible to program the features we'd listed out. before i could even open my fucking mouth the Asshole cut in some shit about how oohh he still didnt think the camera was a good idea bc what if it got hacked (really? youre worried about the ramifications of a static camera pointed at a bowl of cat food being hacked?) and i had had ENOUGH

the real icing on the cake was how several of my teammates mouthed 'thank you' afterwards and i even had one of the guys i chilled with for a bit after tell me he was dreading working with this prick on this coursework but he was glad he had me to counter him LMAOOOO
