one of many the fall of the house of usher v succession hot takes (of dubious validity):

people are for sure going to to say that Camille (wears high-waisted pants a lot, has a somewhat angular haircut, fails at her job, obnoxious but wounded, does PR, is white) is the Shiv parallel of the show, but I would argue that Victorine (desperate to prove her worth in a world that Does Not Care, thinks she's a lot better at being sneaky than she is, destroys her relationship with her partner while trying to validate her place in the family/company, APPEARS to have a special relationship with her father as a Daddy's Girl but is actually being manipulated and emotionally abused by him) is the much stronger Shiv parallel

#the fall of the house of usher #like i'm not saying there AREN'T camille and shiv parallels but i'm just waiting to see so many people acting like it's 1 to 1 #mostly bc kate and sarah are white women whose fanbases appear to overlap #when the entire tell-tale heart episode.... every time victorian and roderick interacted #i was getting horror!pinky vibes #and it made me SADS.#like basically the only kids who pulled at my heartstrings w roderick were like #victorian and then lenore #and like. i think his relationship w victorine was still largely entirely self-serving #(just like logan's w shiv!)#(camille evokes a similar vibe but victorine plays a similar ROLE and makes me sad in a similar way)#(also t'nia miller acted her motherfucking ass off and let us not walk around THAT)
