My 24/7 companion on all adventures! She lives for it. We don’t get busy working at the mobile bench ‘til she gets at least 5 miles (after meditation and morning coffee.) Only then can I work in the shade of the trees while she lies beside me. Until she requests second walk at sunset-ish. She will usually let me know the time for each transition. 😂 This down dog position is “hurry up and drink your coffee.” While we are on the road, this is the way our day flows EVERY day. So there’s the story of a day in the life of Mountain Found Designs on-the-road edition (weather permitting) and the origin of the mountain-inspired, hand-built work I do. Running a business single-handedly is easier than raising children (and we’ve raised three.) 🤔 . . . . WILDERNESS ATHLETE: Today through this weekend I will be taking over the @wilderness_athlete Instagram page. We all know the toll your body can take on long hunts. It is a game of endurance and stamina that you have to work up too and continue to maintain through out the year. For me preparation goes beyond the hunt, and outside of a gym. It is about an active lifestyle. Using free time to do similar endurance based physical activities. Ski, run, climb, kayak, surf, swim, paddle board, hike, shed hunt, backpack, bird hunt. There are alot of activities that can be done outside that engage you physically and build skills, muscle memory, and endurance, while taking advantage of being outdoors. As I load up and repack between hunts, something new gets put into the bag... well sort of new. There is probably close to 1000 days in the field taking @wildernesstlathlete Hydrate and Recover along. I pretty much have had it on every trip for years. I started using it many years ago when the current drink mixes (Gatorade or straight electrolyte pills) just didn't cut it for those long grinding hunts or day after day exertion. While guiding I would leave in August and hunt for 120 consecutive days... with no time for rest, I pushed my body to the limits and needed to make sure that I did not wear down. Being a hunter, what I fuel my body with is extremely important to me. Fresh wild meat and healthy living is key. The word Paleo scares some and excites others, but the truth is you need to find what works for you. Any supplements would not be Paleo but the principles of the ingredients in this are. If you hunt then you understand at the basic level what high quality food is, in a way many others never will. As a hunter I want the best possible ingredients and raw fuel when available. This new Hydrate and Recover excites me because it has everything that I know works with the product, while offering it in a new way. I really like the taste and the grit to it. The color is natural and the sweetness from the fruit is not overpowering. I like the rougher texture of it and the fact that it does not contain sweeteners. A remote mountain lake, a moonless night, and water so still you can see the reflection of the stars. All leading to an awesome starlapse. Anyone else as obsessed as me over the night sky? Views like this are reason enough to escape the city lights even if just for a few days and find stars bright enough to light up the ground. A milkyway so vivid you can't help but stare. If you can't be out under the stars tonight, turn down the lights, and soak this in. See if you can catch the milkyway's reflection on the water.
