i love how in much ado about nothing don pedro and claudio decide to make benedick fall in love with beatrice because they are bored and think it will be hilarious to see benedick being romantic BUT THEN this benedick in love decides to freaking duel claudio out of his love for beatrice and the entire plan backfires

You guys know my love for Villain/Heroine pairings is growing every day. Darklina, Reylo, Zutara, I’ve even been dabbling in Dramione and Spuffy. There’s something about the virtuous heroine bringing the villain to his knees, redeeming him with the force of her love and compassion that is SUCH a power fantasy.
To anyone familiar with Much Ado About Nothing (specifically the ‘93 movie with Emma Thompson and Denzel Washington), y’all NEED to check out the Hero/Don John tag on ao3.
SUCH an amazing Villain/Heroine pairing, and the fic is EXQUISITE. Seriously, there’s only about 50, but they’re almost all by the same three authors who are all geniuses.
“i will find my way home to you” is my personal favorite, but “reprise” is basically the ending canon should have given us, and “teenage dirtbags” is a perfect modern AU and they’re all just WONDERFUL, and deserve all the attention in the world.

Claudio and Leonato can go fuck right off.
We're supposed to hate Don John anyways, since he's basically the antagonist. But those two — Hero's lover and father, respectively — we're supposed to be completely cool with by the end after everything is cleared up and Hero's innocence is proven, and she and Claudio even go on to marry.
Fuck. No.
They should've never believed what they heard and saw in the first place; they should've checked with Hero and gotten the truth out of her in private instead of jumping to conclusions in public. Being the time period this is set in, by yelling at her and hitting her in front of everyone on her goddamn wedding day, they completely humiliated her and destroyed her reputation.
Hero deserved so much better.
