Just a heads up - the domains multicd.us and netbootcd.us are *no longer used* and will probably be dropped around this time next year. Please update all bookmarks to lakora.us/multicd and lakora.us/netbootcd, and if you have any old copies of NetbootCD that use the “download” function to grab an updated script from netbootcd.us, burn a new one - newer versions reach out to GitHub instead.

An Easy Guide to Convert Multiple ISO Files into A Single ISO Image

You can easily find countless Linux Live CDs online and that too without paying a penny. Most of these CDs are essential for performing various tasks and purposes such as security, system rescue, drive cloning desktop recovery, etc. Along with this, a few Linux distributions work as a bootable CD, but it is not always a convenient option to carry all the data in CDs. Fortunately, you can combine multiple ISO files and turn them into a single bootable ISO image using MultiCD, a Linux shell script that helps build a multiboot CD image. Doing so will save a lot of space and enable you to carry a huge variety of free tools.

Changes in default output filename and -o behavior
This weekend I’ll be changing the default output path for MultiCD from multicd.iso to build/multicd.iso.
In addition, the -o option will change. Previously, you could specify a relative or absolute path; now, you must specify either an absolute path or a filename without an extension. If you specify a filename, the .iso extension will be added and the file will be placed in the “build” folder.
The motivation behind this change is to prevent MultiCD from detecting an ISO that it previously created (if you choose a name other than the default multicd.iso). Additionally, if a future version of MultiCD produces more than one output file, the build folder will be a good place to put them.

I’ve updated NetbootCD to 9.0. FYI - next year I plan on moving both multicd and netbootcd from their dedicated domains to another site. (This means you won’t be able to download NetbootCD from netbootcd.us anymore.)

A new file - "generic.lst" - has been added to the MultiCD distribution. This file lists ISOs that work with MEMDISK ISO emulation. (MultiCD, if it finds an ISO listed in this file, will make a temporary symlink so it works with generic.sh.) The format of this file could change in the near future, but it might now.
Also, the single-file version of MultiCD has been removed, since it didn't work properly and I don't think that many people use it anymore.
