A commission completed for someone over on instagram! A scenario based off of a fan song they wrote where Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer make off with some of Growltiger's goodies.

Such a fun piece to work on! Love to get to draw Jerrie and Teazer whenever I can

i saw the cats national tour, these are my act two thoughts

my act one thoughts

im not gonna paste the entire cast list again bc its too long aaaahhh

The Moments of Happiness: old deut comes out on stage like, halfway through intermission ? and the next cats out at the start of act 2 are cassandra and the psychic twins. I enjoy how the psychic twins Bop sillabub on the head to get her to sing the lines from memory . its adorable. after everyone sings the lines from memory, old Deuteronomy leaves the stage

Gus The Theater Cat: because john was playing old deuteronomy literally right before GTTC starts, Kayli has to start the song alone. When gus finally does make it out on stage, a small group of cats forms at his feet, most notably the two kittens and Mungorump. Rumpleteazer stuck her tongue out at sillabub at one point and made silly upset :( , and then I think they also bullied Pouncival a bit too? I was busy looking at tugger and then heard a bit of audience laughter and then looked back to The Group and seen an upset pounce, but idk what they did to him . Gus’ blood curdling noise was wonderful and zuggers reaction was adorable

The Awefull Battle of the Pekes and the Pollicles: gus, mid-sentence, forgets the rest of the title (I think starting at intervention?) and munk helps him out which i find very sweet . tugger and jenny help Rumpleteazer get into Dog Gear before her barking match against Pouncival. After the barking match, rump keeps her dog gear on, but pounce goes and sits on the tire w/ silly and tugger (who was Very into the performance) the entrance of the great rumpus cat was top notch . I love the lighting in this show

Skimbleshanks The Railway Cat: (theres a train going by as im typing this how fitting) because of the lack of an old deuteronomy, rump has to start the song all by herself and she does a great job and im very proud of her . after that Skimble runs up to the top of the car and pretends to be asleep for the “Skimble? Where is Skimble?” line which like . thank u sean . also sean is an absolutely adorable and amazing Skimble. legit couldn’t tell that this was only his third (!!!) time in the role. and to the surprise of no one, zugger also had adorable reactions during this song, and during the part where Skimble is describing to the kittens how humans act on the train, tugger goes onto the tire next to Munkustrap and starts doing some Hip Thrusts and Wiggles TM . and then Munkustrap, in a surprising turn of events, ALSO starts thrusting them. Which surprised not only me but also seemingly surprised munk (and tugger) before he decided to Just Go With It. And then old deut shows up at the very very end, like literally just to get kidnapped by henchman!pounce

Macavity: ok so when Macavity shows up its like . legitimately a little bit frightening bc it was very loud . connor did an incredible job as Macavity though kudos to him. As for the actual song ,,,, I am very in love with both lauren and Chelsea and they both did such a good good job. Chelsea specifically has such a good, deep bomba voice im in love

Macavity Fight: ok I really don’t have much to say about this other than the part where Macavity and Munkustrap are both really low to the ground, you know . this part ?

devon was like . literally On The Floor during that part he was so low to the ground . also ! I love alonzos lil powerup moment he goes through after munk gets wrecked, its very sweet.

Mr. Mistoffelees: after tugger says “you ought to ask magical mr Mistoffelees” everyone starts to leave the stage, and then he says the “listen to me and don’t scoff” line. I was watching munk and demeter during this part and found it interesting that even after tugger said that, munk still looked like he wanted to leave, but demeter tapped him and convinced him to stay. Paul as misto is incredible. Hes an absolutely wonderful dancer, and I love how the broadway revival went HARD on making it clear that misto deals with light magic (he does lighting stuff in jennys song, in tuggers song, in the ball, and in TABOTPATP) hes just a cute lil light up boy and I love him a lot . pauls misto also clearly has Main Character Syndrome and i think thats perfect . after he brings old deut back, (and after tugger credits him for bringing old deut back,) tugger and misto do a lil paw touch and a head nuzzle, was very cute. (side note: misto has a bunch of really cute moments w a few characters, namely bomba, rump, and demeter)

Memory: im going to repeat this one last time: kelliann decarlo is an amazing Grizabella . but also ? bri is the most adorable sillabub, and together they formed one of my favorite renditions of memory . its just got so much Emotion in it..

The Journey to the Heaviside Layer: my only comment about this song is that Mistoffelees was the only cat who DIDN’T touch Grizabella and I don’t know why

The Ad-Dressing of Cats: the audience loved this one because of the poses the cats would take, but my one true thought is “goddamn misto is so close to that tire isn’t he” like . hes clearly supposed to be looking at old Deuteronomy but I do not think that paul is able to actually see old deut from the angle hes at.

Ive got two notes on the bows: zach and I made a Very brief moment of eye contact, and after doing some Shimmies with Mungojerrie, tugger is beckoned over by misto and they do some shimmies, a paw touch, and another head nuzzle. oh and i guess a third note would be that kieran does the first bow (the pouncival bow) AND the last bow (the tumble bow, he doesnt flip but he does do some cool Jumps) and honestly im so proud of him and he deserves both bows

what is the most balls to the wall hc you have ever seen and maybe vibe with

I don’t really recall who said this or where I read it but I feel like I heard someone say that coricomile and mungorump are incarnations of the same two souls. Like DAMN. Complicated and big brained?? My cuppa tea.

Also this isn’t so balls to the wall but the titles of Macavity, Griddlebone, Rumpus Cat (etc.) being somewhat mythical characters and the name being passed down and grown into Dread Pirate Roberts style just makes sense to me. Cats is really interesting to me as a study of the effects of title, identity, and expectations. Mistoffelees is a relatively new addition to this group of mythical names. The misto we know and love is approximately the second or third version.

*Split Tracks. Kieran was in Pouncival makeup/costume and was credited on the cast board as Pouncival, but he covered both pounce and tumble and did both bow slots. I can’t remember what costume John was in for the Jellicle Songs, but I believe it was Victor because he was credited on the cast board as Victor/Old Deuteronomy. kieran was basically just Generic Male Kitten, and john was old deut for most of the show, only being in costume for gus for gus: the theater cat and TABOTPATP.

Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats: jesus christ is devon a good munkustrap. everyone else was great too but standouts for that song specifically are devon and taylor, who has Coricopat DOWN . EVERYONE in the great cobb hall was getting vibe checked . the cats were all so upset about the man who doesn’t know what a Jellicle cat is i felt so bad for them </3

The Naming of Cats: i only looked at Mungojerrie during this song and im not sorry about it . he just looked so heartbroken that people didn’t know how cats were named .

The Invitation to the Jellicle Ball: gracie is such a cute and adorable Victoria oml I love her . paul is also a very, very cute Mistoffelees . and until tugger comes out he makes everything about him

The Old Gumbie Cat: only two mouse-kittens, silly and pounce. "this is mistos world and we’re all just living in it." <- real thought of mine during this song . Michelle is a great jenny and I love a good tap number . also mungo, plato, and alonzo were the cockroaches and they absolutely HATED it , all three had the Angriest faces

The Rum Tum Tugger: surprisingly I don’t have much to say about this song other than I think zach is the best tugger. He’s just so Captivating and its hard to turn your attention elsewhere. Also, during the abouuuuuwowouts he went to the front of the stage and asked for applause, but he didn’t get it right away and he got upset about that, and during the longest abou-a-wow-t he mimicked checking a watch to see how long he could hold it (also misto was Feelin Himself during the entire song, and Munkustrap and Alonzo Schemed before the terrible bore line, and were upset that tugger continued on with the song after they tried to intervene, i think they also made plans to try again but then . didnt)

Grizabella The Glamour Cat: mungojerrie is the cat who attacks her and my thought during that was “no! nasty, nasty boy!” anyways , Munkustrap is incredibly protective of his entire tribe Except for demeter . its like hes reluctant to stop her from going to griz, and leaves it up to her to stop herself. Also Skimble jumped in between griz and silly and he Hissed at sillabub and I think that’s just a bit much, Skimble, shes a KITTEN. Kelliann is an incredible Grizabella, and griz and munk clearly have a History because the way they were staring each other down . hoo boy.

Bustopher Jones: I enjoyed watching munk scare Mungorump off the stage (which I assume is why then then decide to go steal things) but then I noticed tugger and I lost interest in Bustopher. Tugger tried getting the attention of some of the queens (only one I can remember is Victoria) and got upset when they ignored him . he tried a few more times and then just , animatedly watched the rest of the performance when he realized that no one was gonna pay attention to him. Oh as I was typing this I remembered that at the start of the song he walked out and expected applause and was annoyed he didn’t get any.

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer: the chemistry between max and kelly is incredible. Max is honestly top two mungos for me. That’s really all I have to say about this song because I feel like Mungorump is a song that speaks for itself . its just so good

Old Deuteronomy: Munkustrap was visibly surprised when tugger started singing, like he opened his mouth to start singing and then heard a voice that wasn’t his and was like “wait what?” also the wait for old deut to finally appear on stage is kinda awkward when hes not walking down to the stage and is just .. off-stage

The Jellicle Ball: plato and victoria are so fucking cute, top tier couple . also I, an Asexual TM, really love how the “sensuals” part right before the white cat lift is seemingly 100% platonic for all of the couples, like its obviously not meant to be read as a Cat Orgy like some other productions are. finally ,,, Misto controlling the lights is perfection and id die for him .

Memory: kelliann has an amazing voice and you can just feel her hurt/anger/sadness . I feel like every version of this part is the same and theres not much more I can say other than kelliann is like . top 3 grizs for me

#Jellicle Ladies: Rumpleteazer - Relationship Headcanons

1998

OTP: Tumpleteazer.

She is extremely oblivious and he is extremely smitten and too flustered with EMOTIONS to talk. he also thinks only his best friend Misto knows about his crush. Even Jerrie has figured out he has a crush and he doesn’t even have any brain cells! (Teazer was supposed to have them but Jerrie is starting to doubt that after she took Tumble giving her a bouquet of red roses as just a friendly gesture) Eventually Victoria just shoves Tumble at her with a “HE wants to ask YOU on a DATE! Give him an answer before he explodes!” Teazer was surprised but pleased and they ended dancing a Pas De Deux together.

Family: (I have several for this and not all our connected)

Mungojerrie: Her twin, partner in crime and himbo brother! A matched set of chaos gremlins!

Skimbleshanks and Jennyanydots: Respectable put together parents and chaotic wild children who love each other no matter what.

Etcetera: her little sister who fully supports Teazer’s relationship with her boyfriend. that might be because she doesn’t know what ‘criminal’ means. Some form of modern art perhaps?

Friends:

Victoria and Quaxo/Mistoffelees: Siblings who talk about sibling things with other siblings. Only children just don’t understand that the desire to strangle each other sometimes is a perfectly normal thing.

Coricopat and Tantomile: Kinda Frenemies. Jerrie and Teazer love to prank, annoy and tease them while Cori and Tanto love to spook them by being “Eerie Mystic Twins”. but they really do care about each other.

Plato: He’s a bit shy and they don’t have a lot in common. But he’s really easy to talk to and will sometimes treat her and Jerrie like siblings, so she’s quite fond of him.

2019

OTP: (I have several for this one)

Mungorump, Bombateazer, Coriteazer, Victeazer, Mistoteazer and Alonzteazer

I’m having troubling deciding on this one. I can see them all and it’s all VERY CUTE!

Family: (I have several for this and not all our connected)

Mungojerrie: Cute chaos gremlin twins!

Munkustrap and Macavity: In this my headcanon is  that they were born to a queen who worked for/was friends with Macavity who made him their godfather. she died shortly after they were born and he raised them. at some point they got separated from him and became lost and were eventually found by Munkustrap. he adopted them after they told him they had no parents, which was technically true. they greatly enjoyed splitting their time between Macavity’s gang and the tribe. After Old Deuteronomy’s kidnapping and the revelation of Jerrie and Teazer’s deception (Because it was a deception) Munk refused to punish them and started treating them with a bit of resignation. The pair aren’t thrilled with this because they do care about him but they aren’t entirely sure how to fix things.

Friends:

Mistoffelees, Electra and Sillabub: Misto’s fun to tease, Electra is fun to rile and Sillabub is a great cuddler and lookout (As long as there aren’t any squirrels around. she’s fascinated by squirrls)
