BLACKHAVEN — Town map and locations
Blackhaven is the seat of House Dondarrion in the southwestern region of the Stormlands. It is part of the Dornish Marches, located in the northern Red Mountains close to the Dornish border, north of the Wyl River.
1. Blackhaven castle: Located at the heart of the citadel. It serves as the household for House Dondarrion as well as for the majority of their employed staff.
2. Main plaza: A place for gatherings of all kinds, a place that is especially crowded on the seventh day of the week after the people leave the sept. Street food is often sold here and it isn’t rare for musicians to delight the crowds with their songs.
3. The sept: The seventh day of the week is devoted to the Seven and so the town’s sept is the main place for the people of Blackhaven to gather for prayer.
4. The park: The largest green area in the town. A space for leisurely activities and for taking a walk.
5. The theater: Plays have been performed here for nobles and smallfolk alike. It is most often used for tablaos to watch flamenco dancers and enjoy their traditional music.
6. The guilds: This area of the town encompasses the workshops and shops of the guilds of Blackhaven. A long time ago, before the common tongue was adopted in the town, the guilds received Euskera names based on their purpose or the main materials they used for their work. These groups were called “houses”, a tradition that remains to this day. The Blackhaven guilds are identified as follows:
House of Egurra: Carpenters, roofers, and plasterers Woodcarvers, coopers, and bowyers Wagon-makers and wheelwrights
House of Janari Cooks and bakers Brewers, distillers and vintners Farmers
House of Natura Alchemists and apothecaries Healers, midwives and nurses
House of Harria Jewelers and gem cutters Masons and stonecutters Potters and tile-makers
House of Metala Armorers, locksmiths & finesmiths Smiths and metal-forgers
House of Janzkera Cobblers and shoemakers Leatherworkers, skinners, and tanners Weavers and dyers
House of Idaztea Calligraphers, scribes, and scriveners Painters, limners, and sign-makers
7. Bazaar: Located within the guild district. A great variety of goods can be found here with the exception of food, which is sold in the market.
8. Market: Unlike the bazaar, the market is dedicated entirely to selling foods. The members of the House of Janari sell their goods here.
9. Lace district: The area of town where brothels are found as well as spaces for dance performances of a very mature nature.
10 & 11. The city jail (gallows) and the constabulary: Soldiers in Blackhaven can be divided into two branches: men who are trained for battle and the militant branch that oversees that law and order are upheld in the city who operate from the constabulary. For all intents and purposes, they are the city watch. They work under the jurisdiction of a commander at the service of House Dondarrion. The city jail and gallows are located close to their headquarters.
12 & 13. First and Second garrison: Training grounds and housing for the soldiers of Blackhaven.
14. Orphanage: A home that is run by a group of septas. They receive alms from the townspeople as well as a biannual donation from House Dondarrion. They receive basic education so they may successfully become members of society when they reach adulthood. When they come of age, they are welcomed to be employed at the castle, to pursue a craft with the guilds, join the military or devote themselves to the faith.
15, 16 & 17. Inns: There are three inns in town which vary in level of luxury and cost. Wingarde Inn and Brightsong Inn are considered affordable, offering basic accommodation. King’s Quarter Inn is far more expensive, offering a more lavish service and larger quarters as well as a private courtyard accessible only by guests.
18, 19, 20 & 21. Tarvens and pubs: Good food and good drinks can be found all across Blackhaven. The Desert Hawk and The Sandstorm are frequented by all sorts of people from every social class, be it guild members, workers from the lace district, soldiers, and even some visiting nobles who want a taste of Blackhaven without any veils of propriety. The Copper Cup is considered a more family-friendly space, and the meals that Genara, the cook, serves have the greatest of reputations. Lastly, The Saffron is a tavern for those of more exquisite taste, offering both local drinks and cuisine as well as some imported delicacies.

Does Home Insurance Cover Hail Damage?
Hailstorm is one of the causes of roof damage and definitely, the roof repairs can cost you a lot. The extent of damage depends on your residential roofing type. While some insurance companies cover the replacement cost for dwelling losses, some will limit the claims. It is important to talk to your insurer when it comes to the roof service coverage. It is also best to find a company that offers the most affordable yet high quality roof installation to ensure that your investment will go a long way. You can request for an estimate to have an idea on the cost of the roof replacements. Once the damage has been solved, be sure to keep your shingle roofs in good condition by having regular maintenance from a licensed roofer.

Austin, Texas
Austin is the capital of Texas and with more than a million residents, it is considered as one of the most populous cities in the United States. The city boasts of its world class musicians and music venues with its slogan “The Live Music Capital of the World”. It is also known with its other nicknames like “Silicon Hills” because of the many tech companies in the city. It is also fondly called as the “City of the Violet Crown” because of the unique glow of light across the hills after sunset. Austin is also popular because it is the home of the University of Texas, one of the largest universities in the country. Other popular companies have also their headquarters in the city like Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Texas Instrument.
Lady Bird Lake
Lady Bird Lake or also called as the Town Lake is a river reservoir in Austin. It was originally built in 1960 for the city’s power plant but today, it is used for flood control and as a recreational venue. Residents and tourists alike visit the area for biking and hiking. Adjacent to the Lady Bird Lake is the Zilker Park, the largest park in the city. There are also swimmers in the area since the lake connects to the Barton Springs. Other popular activities in the lake include kayaking, boating, and fishing. During Christmas holidays, it is a common sight to see various university women’s rowing teams practice on the lake.
Texas Housing Market Cooling Down After Pandemic Increase
Today may be the best time to buy your dream house as more sellers are cutting down their prices. The pandemic has brought so much changes in our lives including the sharp rise of home prices. With the corona virus going down and cases stabilizing, the housing market in Texas is also starting to cool down. There are more houses in the market and buyers have more options compared with the same months last year. While real estate agents say that the drop in prices is not very huge, this is still a good reason to consider owning your dream home. Median prices are around $350,000 to $360,000 – still the all-time high for the state.

Fix’er Upper Pt. 3
Tumblr media
Pairing: Eventual Frankie Morales x F!Reader Warnings: Clumsy injury, more stupid fighting Length: 2.5k Notes: If these two dummies could have one (1) adult conversation they’d be in bed together by now. Instead, we get this! *waves around vaguely*
PART ONE, TWO
Money was tight. You had been trying to ignore the dwindling stack of cash, telling yourself that you didn’t actually need to fix the cracked drywall, replace the old oven, or fill in the missing patches of shingles.
That ignorance had finally come to bite you in the butt. You were rudely woken at three a.m. to the clap of thunder and the pat-pat-pat of rain hitting the house. You loved storms, the excitement of the lighting, and how fresh the air smelled once the rain had passed.
You rolled over onto your back so you could watch the lightning flashing between the cracks of your curtains. A tap on your forehead quickly destroyed the excitement you were feeling. The wet ‘splat’ was quickly followed by another, and another, and before you were able to scramble up and search for the closest thing resembling a bucket, it had turned into a steady stream.
“Fuuuuuuuck!”
The next morning, the sun rose and shed its light upon a beautiful scene. The leaves, now free from dust, were beginning to turn, the grass glimmered with raindrops, and the sky was clear. You, on the other hand, were a verifiable disaster.
Hair unkempt, heavy bags under your eyes, and wearing the first items of clothing you could find in your scramble last night. Your exhaustion was so complete, it hadn’t even dawned on you to change or freshen up a bit before going out into the public eye. All you could focus on was getting to Hank’s Hardware and buying all the shingles you could get your hands on.
Once again, however, you were harshly reminded of your dwindling savings and just how expensive fixing up a house could be. The owner, Allan if you remembered correctly, had shown you the right size and style for your home’s roof and you nearly choked at the price.
“You know,” he had said gently, “we do have the option of a payment plan. I don’t let just anyone use it either. It’s for trusted customers. I have a good gut on who I can trust.”
“Really?” You asked, feeling a little pathetic while also knowing now was not the time to let pride ruin such a good thing. “And, um, what does your gut tell you about me?”
“Welllll,” he smiled, hooking his thumbs into his suspenders and leaning back a little to size you up. “You’re hard-working, feel like you have something to prove, won’t back down from a challenge, and are in way over your head with that damn old house.”
“Oh.”
“No offense, ma’am! Sometimes I forget myself and talk to strangers the same way I’d talk to my friends.” He patted your forearm gently then hooked it back into his suspenders, pretending he didn’t notice you jumping at the physical contact. “But it’s true. No denying you won’t be able to shingle all by yourself. I’d offer, but I’m in no shape to be climbing up roofs.”
“That’s very sweet of you, truly. But I’ll manage! I doubt I could afford a handyman, so it’ll be me and my stubborn self scrambling around up there.” You joked, but it fell a little flat since the both of you knew it was the truth.
“I’ve got an idea...” Hank trailed off, his gaze searching around by the till. “Maybe you two can help each other out?” He fiddled at the computer for a minute, then grabbed a flyer from the corkboard mounted behind the counter before handing you two pieces of paper. One was a receipt of what you owed him after this latest excursion and a detailed timeline of when small payments could be made.
Glancing up at him, you gave him a watery smile and thanked him for being so kind. Allan waved you off and pointed to the second paper.
‘Help Wanted’ it read, ‘Morales Acres. Light physical labour, quiet environment, rate of pay dependent on quality of work.’
“So friendly and welcoming,” you murmured, sarcastically, under your breath. Not quietly enough though because Allan snorted out a laugh and agreed that the ad was worded very abruptly. However, he vetted for the owner of the farm and suggested you head over to see if he would be willing to trade labour for labour.
Or at the very least, you thought, pay you so you can afford a roofer.
Following the directions Allan had provided for you, you quickly found Morales Acres. Surprisingly, it was a very short distance from your own home, making you wonder if the owner had been one of the people to drop by during your first weeks here.
The driveway was a beautiful, winding drive. The view of the farm was obscured by thickets of trees on either side of the road but you managed to catch glimpses of a pond and a few bales of hay before rounding a bend and driving into the yard.
A small gasp left your lips at the sight. It was picturesque! Something out of a travel magazine, or on every city girl’s Pinterest board. The driveway came to an end in front of a statuesque barn painted in the classic red and white, stone walls cordoned off certain areas that, from where you sat, looked like they could be used to house sheep or hens. A few small sheds were lined up along the other edge of the yard but the main attraction was the neatly lined rows of apple trees all heavy with fruit.
Climbing out of the cab, you slowly made your way into the yard with your mouth hanging open dumbly. It was just so peaceful here and it was obvious that the owner cared deeply for the property. You were enchanted and fell immediately in love.
“You must be the help Allan called to say he was sending over,” a warm voice rang out.
Looking around for the source your gaze widened, then immediately hardened, when you caught sight of who was talking to you.
“You!”
“You?!”
Tumblr media
To say it had been a smooth business agreement would be a total lie. You and Market Asshole, Frankie you reminded yourself to call him, had bickered back and forth for the better part of an hour before shaking hands. Surprisingly, you had both argued more for the other person’s benefit, something you had been mulling over since.
If this guy was such an ass, why was he also acting like his help with your renovations wouldn’t be worth as much as you picking apples? You knew your presence disturbed his peace, and that you weren’t as strong as he might have hoped his helper would be, and he still hadn’t trusted you with all the workings of his orchard.
So, while you weren’t going to argue anymore, you knew you were getting the better end of the deal: you help him gather his harvest and get it safely stored in the barn, then he spends the same amount of hours helping you. While the weather during September was prone to drizzle, you had convinced him that a tarp thrown over the baldest patches of roof would be fine and that the apples couldn’t wait.
He had grumpily conceded your point but had sworn that as soon as the last of the fruit was picked he’d be over to do a proper job of it. So continued the uneasy truce between the two of you for the past four weeks. The first week was the hardest as your hands, unaccustomed to work, blistered, and your muscles ached from sudden use. You had initially tried to pass the time by making conversation but you got the hint and stayed quiet once Frankie started choosing trees farther and farther from yours.
Slowly, however, the blisters healed and gave way to callouses. Your muscles became accustomed to the work and you were able to carry twice the amount as you had started off with. Your home could now boast electricity and running water everywhere it should be, and the pile of discarded furniture had been reduced to ash by a spectacular bonfire which Jacquie and her family had joined you in admiring.
Today started off as a normal day. You showed up for harvesting at the break of dawn, having discovered you much preferred the cool morning air over being up on a ladder with the midday sun beating down on you. The trees were obscured by a low fog that had yet to burn up, but you knew what section you needed to start on.
Enjoying the way the fog enveloped you, making you feel like you were in a magical world, you began to hum and your steps took on a dreamy dance-like quality. You had never taken lessons or had even been allowed to make such a spectacle of yourself while living with Brad but now you felt free enough to spin, twirl, and glide. Overcome with the joy your freedom gave you, you began to belt out “These Are a Few of my Favourite Things”, The Sound of Music having been played on repeat when you were a child.
Once you reached the ladder, you hoisted the basket onto your back and continued to sing whatever songs you could remember while you worked. A particularly boisterous rendition of “Do Re Mi” had you flinging your arm out wide and leaning back on the ladder for a dramatic finish.
The apples threw you off balance.
With a screech, you fell backward, managing to twist yourself around to land awkwardly on your hands and knees instead of on the basket of apples strapped to your back. You seemed to have come away unscathed, with just scratched knees and a throbbing in one wrist. Thankfully it wasn’t your dominant hand.
“Whoa!” Frankie called out, catching sight of you on the ground with the ladder tipped on its side, “Everything okay? Are you okay?”
Coming to a skidding stop next to you, he grasped the basket and slipped it off your back with ease.
You took a few deep breaths and nodded. “Fine! Fine, just bruised knees and ego...” you assured him.
“What were you thinking?!” He tore into you, “You could have broken your neck! Or ruined a whole barrel of apples! Then what would I do?! This job doesn’t come with health insurance for Christ's sakes!” Running his hands through his curly, brown hair he let out a huff of air and walked over to where your ladder lay on the ground.
“Un-be-fucking-lievable!” You called out, incredulously. While trying to get to your feet, to march over and wag your finger in his face, you put too much pressure on your injured wrist that caused pain to scream down your arm.
You managed to mask the cry of pain as a cry of frustration and got to your feet. Surreptitiously cradling your hand against your chest, you grabbed another basket and walked past Frankie to start climbing the ladder again. Looking at the ground so he wouldn’t see the tears of pain in your eyes, you mumbled, “I’ll be more careful, alright? I’m sorry.”
Stopping your ascent with a hand on your arm he stuttered out what might have been the beginning of an apology but he couldn’t quite seem to put the right words together so he just cleared his throat.
“Just...” he said in a much softer tone, “just be more careful. Okay? I can’t lose my best worker.”
The lame joke made you smile despite yourself.
“Employee of the month,” you replied in a dry tone, “hurrah.”
You shared wry smiles while a silent apology passed between the two of you. His dark brown eyes held a warmth to them you had never noticed before. Their hue reminding you of every tree in the orchard from the early light to the sunset, golden flecks reminiscent of the sun. His face, weathered from so much time spent outdoors, was marked with laugh lines, worry lines, and a small scar gracing his left cheek.
Your eyes wandered past the scar to note how long his scruffy facial hair had grown and how it had started to obscure those pleasantly pouty lips.
Then, with a start, you realized you were staring at this infuriating man’s lips like a hormonal teenager. With an embarrassed squeak, you quickly scurried up the ladder, hooking your elbow around each rung to avoid any more pressure on your wrist.
Tumblr media
To say Frankie was coping well with having someone around would be a gross overstatement.
It’s not that he didn’t like the company or wanted to be alone. The problem was that he was starting to like her company too much, to care too much. And caring too much had been the root cause of all Frankie’s sorrows.
First, there had been his Dad, trying to impress the man who never even wanted kids. Then the force, always feeling like he needed to prove himself and desperate for praise. After that was his wife, ex-wife, and trying to be someone he wasn’t so she would stay interested and in love. The pressure created by caring about these people and the expectations they had for him drove him to abuse drugs. Then his friends came calling and Frankie went against his gut because they had cared so deeply about something and he had cared deeply for them.
His wife, his kid, his family, his job, his friends. He had cared more than they did and he had come away worse off. At least now he was clean and sober, and was very aware of the irony of him now making and selling an alcoholic drink.
No, it was best to stay alone. He loved too freely and put too much stock in being loved back and every. single. time. it hurt him.
So, he closed himself off from you. Initially, he didn’t think it was going to be an issue, especially considering how you two had met. But then he found himself smiling at your stories, idly leaning against a branch so he could watch your graceful moments. He hated watching you leave, knowing you were going home to that piece of shit house that he should really be fixing up for you.
He recognized the signs and nipped them in the bud; working farther away, replying to questions with the fewest possible words, focusing purely on work, and maintaining a professional relationship. It pained him to push you away but deep down he knew it was best for the both of you.
Which brings him back to this moment.
Frankie was too stunned to notice your awkward climb up the ladder. Standing there, dumbly, for another few seconds. Wondering, all the way back to the idling tractor, what the hell had just happened.
One minute he was just driving the tractor minding his own business and the next he was having a mild heart attack after seeing his only worker laying limp on the ground. Then, after arguing like usual, you had shared a...a moment and stared at his mouth almost long enough to tempt him to use it.

Clare seeks HIMBO: ‘The Bachelorette’ cast first impressions
The Covid-19 pandemic has been rough for the entire world, but Bachelor Nation faced some dark days too. Going eight months without a single new episode from The Bachelor franchise is something I would really like to not relive.
Fortunately, those dark days are over. Clare’s season has me sucked back in.
Tumblr media
The quality of this image is atrocious.
Most of these men—presuming they followed CDC’s social distancing guidelines— haven’t seen a woman in months, are touch deprived, possibly unemployed and contemplating moving back to their hometown while stalking the housing market on Zillow. Everyone’s desperate. That makes for some pretty good TV.
This season features men ranging from ages 26 to 41. We’ve got a boy band manager, a grooming specialist, several men who look like they masturbate in front of full length mirrors and even more who probably want me to join their MLM pyramid scheme.
I’ve never been more ready to roast a bunch of men who have nightmares about going bald. It’s all I’ve wanted to do since March.
Let’s go:
AJ, 28, Software sales
Tumblr media
AJ is the kind of guy who writes “Looking for the Pam to my Jim <3″ on his Bumble profile. His bio is generic and probably not reflective of who he is as a person. If I were Clare I’d swipe left.
Ben, 29, Army ranger veteran
Tumblr media
“Ben's favorite indulgence is an ice bath.“ Well then.
Alexa, play “Run” by AWOLNATION.
Bennett, 36, Wealth management consultant
Tumblr media
Bennett’s profile is the biggest red flag I’ve ever seen. This man says he is the total package but hasn’t always been "this successful and good looking.” But wait, there’s more: “According to Bennett, his high school girlfriend is the only girl he's ever had to work for.“
Can someone tell me what NYC neighborhood he lives in so I can blacklist it?
Blake M1, 31, Male grooming specialist
Tumblr media
Blake’s just another stereotypical “29th round draft pick who sat on the bench of the practice team before getting cut, but claims he left the sport due to an injury on his own accord.”
Blake M2, 29, Wildlife manager
Tumblr media
This Blake is an outdoorsy Canadian who seems pretty genuine and cool. Unfortunately, he has the face of someone who’d get sent home on night one. I hope I’m wrong.
Brandon, 28, Real Estate Agent
Tumblr media
Just another boring hot person. Nothing to see here.
Brendan, 30, Commercial roofer
Tumblr media
Brandan, not to be confused for Brandon, “loves some good true crime, working out and hanging out with his friends.” I can’t even make fun of this man. We have the exact same interests.
Chasen, 31, IT account executive
Tumblr media
The Winklevoss twins are actually triplets and Chasen is their long lost brother. But more seriously, have you ever seen someone who looks more like their name than this man?
Chris, 27, Landscape design salesman
Tumblr media
“Chris hopes to find a woman who is sharp and witty but also easygoing.” Chris, sweetheart, have you met Clare? Easygoing...? There’s still time back out of this before it’s too late.
Dale, 31, Former pro football wide receiver
Tumblr media
Dale aggressively screams “Bachelor material.” I’d say he’s auditioning for that role but Matt James already scooped it up. Better luck next year, Daley.
Demar, 26, Spin cycling instructor
Tumblr media
Demar is a “very popular spin instructor in Scottsdale and says he can get on that bike and spin to any beat thrown his way.” Imagine how many trophy wives Demar has f*cked?
Eazy, 29, Sports marketing agent
Tumblr media
Eazy is very similar to Dale on paper. Except his name is Eazy so he automatically loses that battle.
Ed, 33, Health care salesman
Tumblr media
“Ed is looking to find a woman who has natural beauty without looking overly fake.” Ed deserves to die alone.
Garin, 34, Professor of Journalism
Tumblr media
Garin’s bio is giving me hubby material vibes. And maybe a little bit of a “gets eliminated on night one” vibe too.
Ivan, 28, Aeronautical Engineer
Tumblr media
Ivan, what are you doing here? We’re in a recession. Please go back to your normal job before it’s too late.
Jason, 31, Former pro football linemen
Tumblr media
“He is a former NFL offensive lineman who, after suffering too many concussions on the field, decided to prioritize his health and change the direction of his life.” A big, brawny HIMBO with CTE? I feel like he’s Clare’s type.
Jay, 29, Fitness director
Tumblr media
There are too many things about Jay that I dislike and I’m trying to keep this brief. Jay says “it's time to take a break from worrying about others and focus on himself instead.” I am willing to bet money that this man has never made a woman c*m.
Jeremy, 40, Banker
Tumblr media
Jeremy is the oldest contestant ever to come on "The Bachelorette,” which may seem like a monuments accomplishment but he’s literally only one year older than Clare.
He also “hates Instagram models, both male and female,” so he should have a lot of fun here.
Joe, 36, Anesthesiologist
Tumblr media
Before I even saw his profession and location, I thought Joe looked like a doctor I’d find on a NYC dating app...and...uh...I probably did see him on there now that I think about it.
Anyway, this man has apparently been through seven stages of hell while on the front lines fighting Covid-19 in NYC so I definitely think he deserves to find love. Someone marry him please.
Jordan C, 26, Software account executive
Tumblr media
I can already tell Jordan is going to get the “I’m young but mature” edit which means he’s probably not going to be good TV.
Too bad someone a tad younger (like Tayshia) wasn’t the Bachelorette. I feel like they’d make a cute couple.
Jordan M., 30, Cyber security engineer
Tumblr media
I was going to say something mean but Jordan’s into cyber security and I don’t want my blog to be deactivated, so never mind. Cast photos are historically bad so I’m sure he looks much better in real life.
Kenny, 39, Boy band manager
Tumblr media
I could go for the obvious drags regarding this man’s profession (or his sh*tty chest tattoo, or his suspiciously boyish face relative to his age), but I like to think I’m more clever than that.
I’d like to take this time to talk about men, who are obviously difficult people, who rant and rave about how they want an “easygoing” woman. Look into the mirror, bud. No, not the one you use to jerk off to your reflection; the mirror that looks into your soul. Out of respect for the rest of humankind, have some self-awareness. Or maybe just see a therapist.
Mike, 38, Digital media advisor
Tumblr media
Mike is seemingly a decent catch, but I can’t help but wonder why he’s still single or how he never (accidentally or on purpose) impregnated a woman in his 38 years of life.
And now that I’m thinking about it, do any of these men have children? I have yet to see any mention of it in their bios. But there are eight men left to review, so there’s still time.
Page, 37, Chef
Tumblr media
I spoke too soon. Page is a father! He also hates football! I’m a fan of this man. I was initially going to drag him for his name and say that Page is not a real name. PAIGE is a real name. PAGE is a piece of paper. I’m allowed to say this because we have the same name except mine is spelled the correct way. Based on my (mostly positive) review of his cast bio, I have decided not to hold his name against him.
Tumblr media
Riley, 30, Long Island City
Tumblr media
Riley, once married with children, would like to go on a family vacation that consists of touring every single MLB stadium in the country. If i were his wife, I would simply never give this man children.
Robby, 30, Insurance broker
Tumblr media
No more Robbys on The Bachelorette. Society has evolved past its need for more Robbys.
This Robby described his dream woman as: “Incredibly athletic and able to throw back a few beers with him after a day of hiking. She has a sweet personality and won't mind that he spends his Sundays on the golf course.”
Someone please give this man a sex doll. He just wants a hole.
Tyler C., 27, Lawyer
Tumblr media
“Tyler C. is a badass lawyer who says he is a businessman by day and a cowboy by night.” How does that make him a lawyer? Does this mean he’s into cosplay? I’m confused.
Tyler S., 36, Music manager
Tumblr media
Tyler makes an honorable living off riding his brother’s dick success as a country singer. “He just LOVES his job!” Uh yeah, I would too if I had a low-show, high-paying job off the merits of nepotism. It’s the American dream.
Yosef, 30, Medical device salesman
Tumblr media
Another dad! He’s totally going to pull the “girl dad” narrative. That saying is kind of sexist to me but the masses generally eat it up, so I’m fairly confident Yosef will get the "sweet guy” edit he’s looking for.
Zac C., 36, Addiction specialist
Tumblr media
“He loves Philadelphia sports and dreams of sharing a Philly Cheesesteak with his future wife while watching the Eagles win a Super Bowl.” This man is so South Jersey it hurts.
On a more serious note, I don’t think anyone in recent history has spoken openly about their personal struggle with addiction on this show, so I hope Zac gets a chance to tell his story.
Zach J., 37, Cleaning service owner
Tumblr media
Zach is seemingly obsessed with Clare already and hopes to introduce her to his mom as his fiancée. Since Zach watched Clare on Juan Pablo’s season, you’d think he’d know that Clare would first meet his mom during the final four hometown dates. Assuming he makes it that far. My prediction is that he won’t.
Final thoughts
After eight long months Bachelor Mondays are back!!!
Uhh....wait.
Actually, we now have the less-exciting Bachelor Tuesdays. Yeah, it definitely doesn’t have the same ring to it. But I’ll take anything at this point.
Here are my final predictions:
First impression rose: Dale. It just looks like he can turn on the bullsh*t charm
Final rose: Jason. Clare wants a HIMBO I just know it.
Bachelor: nobody (Matt James is The Bachelor)
Most likely to get engaged on Bachelor in Paradise: Blake M2
Most likely to get canceled online: Bennett
Most likely to get sent home night one but deserve better: Chris
Who are your favorite men cast on this season?

Spring, New Entertainment Area Dawntawn, New Roof
Business has certainly picked up.  Still fairly slow during the weekdays, most Saturdays I sell out and do decent Fridays and Sundays.  I brought my covid weekday special over from the pandemic.  You can only get the $99+ rate from my website, not one of those OTA’s as with all my specials.  It cannot be combined with any other special like AAA or Caribbean Freedom.
Speaking of covid, I’m 100% vaccinated.
Downtown Partnership and the city are closing west bound Fort Duquesne Blvd (river side) and making an outdoor festival area.  Three Rivers Arts Festival will be using some of it and they are planning a number of other music events and art shows.
Someone seems to have bought the old James Street Pub, just drove past is and there’s quite a bit of construction going on.  I haven’t heard what the plans are for it.  I hope they get along better with their neighbors than the last business. Lots of complaints about loud music (I’ve heard it was the same whiny neighbor that called in all the complaints).
I was going to replace the roofs on the carriage house last year.  But the pandemic put a stop to that.  I used my business line of credit and savings that were both ear marked for this project to survive.  I got a state grant.  When that came through, I went through several roofers until I found one I liked. Two months ago, I signed a contract and paid the deposit.  The roofer said they were having trouble getting a permit through the city mainly because I’m in a historic district.  Two months to get a permit to replace a black asphalt shingle roof with a black asphalt shingle roof is ridiculous. Finally, it looks like they start next week.    Because of the delay (and my whining) they assured me they would assign two job managers to the project to ensure it gets done quickly and right. One of the things I liked about them was I gave them my address and when the gentleman came to do the actual bid, he already had the measurements from some satellite app.  He then used a drone to fly over and count and the placement of the various vents.  Another thing the impressed me was they bring a dumpster on a truck that lowers and they can toss the old roof into it, instead of dropping of one of those huge dumpsters that would gouge my new parking lot.
I completed my arbor; I had bought two at home depot or lowes and they both rusted out within two years. I spent the same money on the pressure treated wood as I did for either of the store-bought arbors.  I posted a pic on my Instagram account and got a number of compliments on it.  To me it looks like a C grade high school woodshop project.  I think part of the reason I hate it, is my friend Tony is such a wiz with woodwork and I’ve seen an arbor like structure he built in his yard. He sets such a high standard. Sometimes I hate him.  😊  But it will do the trick and hold up my clematis.
Tumblr media
When I first designed the garden around the water feature just off the veranda, I used boxwood between the arborvitaes.  I lost three of the six several years ago and replaced them with a low growing juniper hedge and hated it.  Leaves from the fall get stuck on the needles.  And in the spring they would scratch the hell out of my hands as I was pulling the dead leaves out. Another spring project I’m in the midst of is replacing the juniper hedges with dwarf Japanese holly.  They look similar to boxwood and are much heartier.
Here’s a pic of the juniper, soon to be gone:
Tumblr media
And here’s one of the new Japanese Dwarf Holly:
Tumblr media
The Alliums are blooming right now, they are a gift from my friend Tony, sometimes I don’t hate him ( 😊 ).
Tumblr media
Another plant flowering, I don’t remember if this was one of Tony’s ideas or not, but Solomon’s Seal. They are fairly early spring blooming and extremely easy to grow.  They have been just spreading for the past several years now.  I had to thin them out this spring and gave a bunch to my friend Jeff that owns the Inn on the Mexican War Streets for their property down in West Virginia.
Tumblr media
Several years ago I planted vertical hydrangeas to cover the concrete block wall my neighbor put up along the back of my parking lot.  I put two in, but it doesn’t seem as if they are going to cover the entire wall, so I bought another to put in the middle and he’s doing rather well.  I like happy plants.
Finally, I got a cute little frog water feature for the courtyard.
Tumblr media
Well that’s about it for today.  You be good, safe and healthy,
ed

Beloved by the local blues community, Gray's long career included stints performing with Chicago stars Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters and Junior Wells.
A musician for more than 80 years, Gray performed throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. His festival performances included 39 appearances at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival as well as engagements at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the prominent King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas, and the Chicago and Baton Rouge blues festivals.
“Henry’s music has put smiles on thousands of faces and will continue to enrich us all for many years to come,” said Grammy-winning Baton Rouge blues artist Chris Thomas King.
A Chicago resident from 1946 to 1968, Gray worked with many of the city’s classic blues artists, including Jimmy Reed, Jimmy Rogers, James Cotton and his fellow Louisiana natives Buddy Guy, Little Walter Jacobs and Morris Pejoe.
“To play Henry’s boogie-woogie style, you had to have that left hand like a hammer,” said Rob Payer, the host of blues, rhythm-and-blues and jazz programs at WBRH-FM. “He was also a gentleman, always so sweet and affable.”
Playing blues and rock ’n’ roll standards as well as his original songs, Gray typically performed a mix of joyfully up-tempo selections and heart-wrenching blues. His many honors included the National Endowment for the Arts’ National Heritage Fellowship Award he received in 2006. The Memphis-based Blues Foundation inducted Gray into its Hall of Fame in 2017, the same year it inducted Mavis Staples. In 1998, Gray received a best traditional blues album Grammy nomination for “A Tribute to Howlin’ Wolf.”
Although Gray’s 1998 performance in Paris for Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger’s 55th birthday wasn’t a formal honor, it said much about his place in American music. Playing for the blues-loving British rock stars was a fun gig, Gray said, but the partying Stones wouldn’t let him get any rest.
“Kept me woke four days,” he told The Advocate in 1999. “They can’t sleep and they ain’t go let you sleep — not if they like you. They down to earth, good people, but they just crazy.”
Incidents such as the 1989 tornado strike that destroyed his house in north Baton Rouge and the city bus that crashed into his car in Chicago in 1951 earned Gray his nickname — Lucky Man. He served in the South Pacific during World War II and survived the 2016 flood that affected thousands of Baton Rouge area households. Floodwaters ruined his home, electric piano, clothes and 1994 Ford Crown Victoria. After his rescue by boat, looters stole the safe where Gray stored documents and valuables, including his Grammy-nominee medallion.
Born Jan. 19, 1925, in Kenner, Gray grew up in the East Baton Rouge Parish community of Alsen. A woman in his neighborhood taught him to play blues piano. His religious parents disapproved until his father realized Henry could earn money playing music.
Following his service in the U.S. Army during World War II, Gray returned to Louisiana, but didn’t stay long.
“I don’t pick no cotton, I don’t grow no corn, I don’t plow no mule,” he said. “My daddy put me out there, wanted me to chop corn. I cut my own good foot. I did it on purpose! I picked 60 pounds of cotton in my life, said that was it.”
In 1946, Gray moved to Chicago, a destination city for African Americans who left the South and brought the blues with them. He found a mentor in Big Maceo Merriweather, one of the city’s great piano men. “I was playing some blues, but not like I play now,” Gray said. “He showed me the fundamentals of the blues.”
Gray spent 12 of his 22 years in Chicago playing piano in blues star Howlin’ Wolf’s band.
“I was playing with Little Walter, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed, a boy called Morris Pejoe, Elmore James, Sonny Boy Williamson,” Gray said in 1999. “See, I was playing with all of the big guys. I was making my money, too. I had plenty of work. Every night if I wanted to.”
In 1968, Gray left Wolf’s band and returned to Louisiana. He disputed accounts that Wolf fired him due to his drinking.
“That was over a woman,” Gray insisted. “I walked away. I went back to Baton Rouge. I was just as important as Howlin’ Wolf. That’s the way I felt. He may have been Howlin’ Wolf, but I was Henry Gray.”
In Baton Rouge, Gray worked in his family’s fish market and later as a roofer for the East Baton Rouge Parish school system.
Gray recorded for several record labels, including Chess Records in Chicago, APO, Telarc Blues, Bluebeat, Hightone, Wolf, Blind Pig and Lucky Cat. Three of his recordings are featured on the 1992 MCA box set “Chess Blues.”
In 2004, Gray released the DVD “Henry Gray & the Cats: Live in Paris.” The French audience treated his performance as if it were a classical recital in a world-class concert hall.
“Everywhere I go over there, they love the blues,” Gray said.
Gray is also featured with Dr. John in the Clint Eastwood-directed “Piano Blues,” an episode of the Martin Scorsese-produced 2003 PBS series, “The Blues.”
A songwriter as well as a singer and pianist, Gray’s original songs on his 2009 album, “Times Are Gettin’ Hard,” include “Barack Obama Boogie,” his homage to the first African American president. “He’s my man,” Gray sings. “If he can’t do it, can’t nobody can.”
Gray’s recordings include 2015’s “The Henry Gray/Bob Corritore Sessions, Vol. 1: Blues Won’t Let Me Take My Rest” ‎and 2017’s “92.” Grammy-winning zydeco artist Terrance Simien, co-producer of “92,” met Gray at the 1984 World’s Fair in New Orleans.
“Just him and his piano,” Simien recalled. “Huge crowds gathered around him every time he played.”
Even while Gray appeared at festivals around the world, he played regularly at the Piccadilly cafeteria on Baton Rouge's Government Street for more than a decade. In his early 90s, Gray gigged at the Time Out Lounge every Tuesday for nearly three years. He refused to stop performing there despite a collapsed lung and a mild heart attack he experienced in quick succession.
Henry gave "it all he can every time,” said Time Out Lounge co-owner Kathleen Byers. “He’s a treasure to me. He should be a treasure to every person in Baton Rouge.”
“I’m going to stay playing my piano,” Gray vowed. “I got to take care of my own business.”
In a 1993 interview, Gray expressed his belief that blues as a musical genre would endure.
“Every person who’s ever been through anything, they’ve gotten the blues,” he said.

Historic and beautiful, this town is located on the North Shore of Long Island. Salty air and music in the skies, you can spend some time listening to all that this area has to offer. With settlers coming in the 1600's and setting up a rural town, you can expect a lot of the town's history to be ingrained into the area.
It turned into a shipbuilding center in the 1800's. With many of the buildings in the center being built in the past, they are currently still standing and being used by those residents in the area. This helped them build ships faster and then immediately send the ships into the Long Island Sound.

Concord Pavilion
Concord Pavilion – amphitheater, a major regional concert venue formerly known as the Sleep Train Pavilion and as the Chronicle Pavilion at Concord.

Tumblr media
The Concord Pavilion, formerly known as the Sleep Train Pavilion and formerly the Chronicle Pavilion, is Concord, California's most popular amphitheater. The City of Concord owns the Concord Pavilion, but Live Nation controls its activities. The pavilion can accommodate up to 12,500 people. The museum of the Concord was introduced in 1975. It is used (including an occasional jazz festival) for celebrations, local societies and local high school graduations.
The pavilion has been designed by architect Frank Gehry and landscape architect Peter Walker. Also in the mid-1990s, Gehry developed changes, including extra storage and equipment. The center has hosted and continues to host numerous qualified musical organizations in its years of operation. Bing Crosby played his last gig at the Pavilion. Lawrence Welk was prosecuted on 13 June 1982 at the Concord Pavilion for his farewell appearance.
Legendary concerto creator Bill Graham, who had just spoken to the group about arranging a benefit for the fire survivors in Oakland Hills that year after abandoning the pavilion after a gig at Huey Lewis and the News, was murdered in a helicopter crash in 1991. The production company of Graham, Bill Graham Presents (BGP), has been the booking agent of Concord Pavilión since at least 1985.
Bill Graham Presents entered into an arrangement with the town of Concord in February 2000. Shortly afterwards, his name was altered to the Concord Chronicle Pavilion after the San Francisco Newspaper Agency's company agent purchased the naming rights. In 2000, Clear Channel Communications purchased the business together with its sister, SFX Promotions, and in 2005 it would turn its concert operations into the Live Nation presently running the Pavilion.

It became the Sleep Train Pavilion after a mattress distributor (now a Houston, Texas corporation) bought naming privileges from the California-based mattress retailer in April 2006 ; by 2017, the retailer became Mattress Firm. In December 2013, the title of the Pavilion was altered to the Concord Pavilion as portion of a 10-year development agreement between the Live Nation and the City of Concord.
