In Which Pennhung Has Friends, Is an Angel And Deserves Better

I really am glad that Maki and White found their way to visit Pennhung, even if did mean that the school had actually punished him for, you know, being innocent (again, issues with this lesson y'al). But his instant assumptions that they came to visit him because they're also being punished broke my heart.

Pennhung and his croissant make the world a better place.

That is a very loaded phrase.

The boy with the perfect memory who can remember every single duckling and tell them apart but can't hold a grudge, who can't bear to be locked up alone but barely knows how to talk to people, who holds deep knowledge but struggles to share it in a way people listen to or respect.

Finally. He gets the chance to speak and people listen. Thank fuck that anyone is still listening to him because at least that lets them start to do what they need to do to actually help him.

White is absolutely my second favorite character in this show. You go. Tell them off! Go yell at those adults some more! You understand what's going on.

I hope the guilt of this eats her alive for the rest of her life. But also tiny Pennhung in the corner just trying to make it through (though I have some suspicions that he wasn't as isolated as we're lead to believe since he truly wasn't supposed to be punished... but we may never know.

You know what's even better in a society? If the people in charge don't unjustly punish the innocent in the first place? Or let other people argue for them? Or listen to people when they say they know someone is innocent?

Also, this is just such a bad way to teach this. Because what lesson did Pennhung learn in this? Be punished for being who you are? Other people will blame you for their issues? Forgive people no matter what they do to you?
