My Roommate is a Gumiho | SMAU+WRITTEN

A/N: Inspired by the Kdrama of the same name starring Lee Hyeri and Jang Kiyong. The plot will loosely follow similar main plot points to that of the Kdrama but with new twists added so you won’t get much of a spoil if you have or haven’t watched the drama!

summary: To become human a, 999-year old Gumiho (Nine-Tailed-Fox), Choi Yeonjun needs to fill his fox bead with human energy before he turns 1,000-years. One day a college girl, Y/L/N Y/N, accidentally swallows Yeonjun’s fox bead. A Nine-Tailed-Fox bead can live in a human for ONLY one year and after a year is up it will break inside the human who holds it. This means Y/L/N Y/N will die and Choi Yeonjun will lose his chance at becoming human unless they can figure out how to safely get it out without just killing the girl anyway.

gumiho definition 1: A Gumiho/Kumiho or Nine-Tailed-Fox in English is a creature in folktales from East Asia and in legends in Korea. The Korean legend states it can freely transform into a beautiful woman or even a handsome man that will seduce men/women in order to eat their liver or heart.

gumiho definition 2: A Nine-Tailed Fox is a beasts of whom resembles a fox and can transform into an attractive person. In beast form it has four feet and nine tails, with a new tail growing every 100 years. After a millennium (1,000 years) on Earth, the worthy fox may then ascend to the Heavens and join the gods.

Y/n Y/l/n-Han 💖: 03’ liner. Studying history at HYBE University. Has never dated anyone in her 20 years of life and is quite oblivious when it comes to anyone showing interest in her. She lives with her little brother all alone in Korea because her step mother (Yujin’s bio mom) left the family and her dad moved back to the States for better work to support their family now that he was left alone with two kids, doing his best to come home as often as possible for them.

Nakamura Kazuha 🦢: 03’ liner. Studying business and ballet at HYBE University. She’s a ballerina and has been since she could walk, she’s known as the mom of the friend group. Her and Chaeryeong are roommates in the university campus dorms. She’s really pretty and Minjeong tried to recruit her into her group of minions but she refused because she could see through their bullshit. Has a lot of secret admirers and just people in general who have a crush on her but she only sees one guy… Kang Taehyun.

Kai Kamal Huening 🐧: 02’ liner. Studying music at HYBE University. The gentlest of giants who loves collecting plushies but is a feral little beast when it comes to defending his friends. He’s Beomgyu’s roommate at the campus dorms and has known him since they were in middle school. He also can’t keep a job because he’s hella clumsy so he’s always broke and mooching off his friends, in exchange for his brain since he’s incredibly smart. By that I mean he does his friends homework in exchange for free food and them buying him things.

Kang Taehyun 🐿️: 02’ liner. Studying financing at HYBE University. Used to be apart of Minjeong’s inner circle but eventually grew tired of them and their negativity. Tried to peacefully leave the group but Minjeong wouldn’t allow him to go without a bang and did something really messed up to him, her and her other boy toys. After being exiled from that group he joined this one because despite being annoying he enjoys their company. He is a loyal and strong friend. Oh did I mention he’s a gym rat and is hot as hell? Also may or may not be a little bit in love with Y/n…

Choi Beomgyu 🐻: 01’ liner. Studying communications at HYBE University. Used to date a girl named Kim Minjeong who thinks she’s some sort of Queencard but in reality she’s just a mean girl stuck in high school. He’s recently been dumped and is a shell of who he used to be. Very much heartbroken and likes to drown himself in alcohol to heal his broken heart. He’s the definition of a green flag and the best boyfriend to ever exist but for some reason he keeps attracting girls who only want to use him. He’s also gone through another heartbreak of sorts because he found out his online bestie heedeungie aka Ethan/Evan is the guy his ex girlfriend started dating pretty much right after they broke up.

Lee Chaeryeong 🦊: 01’ liner. Studying history at HYBE University is a transfer student from JYP University. Is kind of aloof and blunt, a bit rough around the edges. Y/n’s number one best friend since they’ve known each other since grade school. Has crushes on nearly everyone/anyone including her friends at least for a couple days/weeks. Her latest crush is Choi Soobin even though he’s apart of Minjeong’s whipped goons.

Han-Y/l/n Yujin: 07’ liner. Currently a high school student in 10th grade and is apart of his school’s archery team. He’s an angsty teenager and acts like he’s grossed out by his sister Y/n and her affection but he loves it. He’s actually really protective of his sister even if he doesn’t want to let her know about that. He lives and breathes archery and much like his older sister has never dated anyone in all his life.

My Roommate is a Gumiho | 03. Kang Taehyun please come save me! (2,347 wrds)

A/N: I know Twitter is called X now but I like Twitter more and what do you even call Tweets now that it’s X?

Y/n groans as she snuggles further into her couch, yawing a little still with her eyes closed. She then starts stretching while slowly opening her groggy eyes not moving positions. In doing this she feels the dull ache in her scrapped knee and elbow, she then notices she can feel her wounds bandaged up. Then she moves her hands towards her face and her eyes start to focus and she sees her scrapped hands are also bandaged.

“Ah… my head hurts… when did I get home last night… where’s Beomgyu?”

Now with her eyes in focus she notices the couch is definitely not her couch which causes her to jerk up. The sudden movement sends a shooting pain through her head as a migraine starts to settle in.

She sat up in a way she couldn’t see what’s behind her and now as she looks around she notices the house she’s in is definitely not by any means her’s. This house was by far the most lavish and expensive she’s ever seen and right now she’s only looking at the giant modern open concept kitchen.

Muttering to herself, “Where am I?”

“You’re up”.

Y/n freezes as she hears a man’s voice coming from behind her. Slowly the now scared girl turns around to face the stranger. Once she does turn around she sees a young man who’s by far the handsomest man she’s ever seen. There this majestic man sits in an arm chair with his legs crossed propping his chin up with his hand as he leans to one side of the small couch. He looks at her with a small smirk on his face as he waits expectingly for her response.

“Who—, who are you?”

Just as the words leaves her lips she suddenly remembers the man from last night with the red Lamborghini. She gasps, “Oh! Aren’t you the owner of the red car…?”

The man nods his head with that same sly grin on his face, “I’m glad you remember”, he then sits up straight and continues, “and this is my home”.

Y/n looks at the stranger like he’s lost his goddamn mind and quickly stands from the couch and creates more distance between them by walking behind it, carefully.

“Why am I here?”, she asks cautiously while looking around the couch for her phone.

“You wouldn’t wake up, so I had no other choice but to bring you here. Besides I have to get something back from you”.

Y/n’s completely confused now because the last thing she remembers is he said both her and Beomgyu could leave and owed him nothing, she knows she wouldn’t have taken something from him. Where even is Beomgyu? Did she dare ask…?

“Hmm? Get something back from me?”

The man sighs, “You swallowed my marble last night”. Y/n can’t help the look of disgust from over taking her face at that because what the hell is he talking about.

He continues, “A very important marble, one I’ve carried with me for nearly 1,000 years to become human.

“To become… human? What do you mean? What are you even talking about, right now?”

“Oh, right. I haven’t introduced myself. I am a Gumiho”.

“This man is an absolute lunatic”, the honestly now terrified girl thinks to herself. Forcing a nod of understanding and a hum of approval the girl tries to discreetly search for her phone a little more franticly.

“Oh… I see… a Gumiho… like a fox…”, she mumbles the last part, “from fairytales”.

The man laughs with a knowing look, “You don’t believe me.”

The frazzled girl now looks back up at him and attempts to reassure him she does in fact believe him, because who knows what this lunatic would do if she said “yeah, of course I don’t believe you, you absolute freak show”.

“No, no, no, no, no! Of course I believe you! So you’re a Gumiho and I swallowed your fox bead, last night”. She moves one of the couch cushions in an attempt to find her phone as casually as possible, “Then what should I do? Should I go wash out my stomach?”, she then gestures to a random hallway that she has no clue where it leads to but assumes a bathroom is probably there.

The lunatic then just looks at her and scoffs, “It’s not in your stomach, it’s already placed itself within your body becoming one with you”. Y/n can’t help the horrified look that overcomes her as she protectively wraps her arms around her stomach.

“Then what should we do?”, she asks while looking at him warily. She starts moving towards the end table still keeping herself safely behind the couch as she continues the search for her phone.

“Well I’ll just have to find a way to get it out of you”.

Y/n ignores him and sees that her phone is not on the end table so she starts moving around some pillows trying to find it, at this point she needs to call the police because a literal psych patient who thinks he’s a fox has practically kidnapped her and is holding her hostage.

“This means we’re in the same boat now”, he says while watching the girl fail to be discreet about her intentions.

“We have a common purpose, taking the marble out”, he continues while observing the young girl not paying attention to anything he’s saying.

He raises his voice a little, “Therefore I think it’s appropriate for us to cohabitate for a while”. This catches the college girl’s attention and she looks at him in disgust.

“I’m sorry?! You want me to live here with you?!”

The lunatic looks at her and smirks, “I can understand that you’re flustered, seeing as we’re strangers but the marble is very dear to me. Don’t you think I’d be able to rest easy if I always had you before me?”

Y/n scoffs, “This man is unbelievable, what the fu—“, she catches herself and tries to remain composed, “I was sorry my friend damaged your car and thankful for you not leaving me out there in the streets, so I was going to let you keep going on and on with your weird delusional story. But what? A Gumiho? Cohabitate?! Stop talking nonsense!”

The insane stranger starts to laugh, “See? You don’t believe me.”

Just then Y/n sees her phone in between the cushions where she was sleeping earlier and eagerly grabs it quickly unlocking it.

The man continues, “But alas, it’ll be easier if I just show you. Then you’ll understand the situation better,” Y/n is almost about to hit call when he says, “try not to pass out”.

She looks up at him about to say something snarky but in place of where the man once stood is a giant fox with nine tales staring at her?!

Y/n drops her phone and starts screaming bloody murder at the sight, then passes out falling to the floor.

“Ah… my head hurts… when did I get home last night… where’s Beomgyu?”

Now with her eyes in focus she notices the couch is definitely not her couch which causes her to jerk up. The sudden movement sends a shooting pain through her head as a migraine starts to settle in.

“What kind of dream was that?”

She could’ve sworn this all happened before… but that was just a dream, right?

“Did you sleep well? You seemed shocked.”

Y/n heard a man’s voice and quickly turned around only to see… the same man from last night and her dream?

It wasn’t a dream was it, “oh my fucking god”, she thought.

The man smiled, “I’ll go make you a cup of tea. It’ll help you calm down”.

The Gumiho the stands up showing his full height to the girl who stares wide eyed at him as he makes his way to his kitchen.

Once in the kitchen Yeonjun grabs a kettle, turn the stove on as he pours some water in it, before placing it on the stove. He looks around in his cabinets for some tea but it seems he’s run out. Just then he finds a packet and turns back to the girl as he says, “Is lotus tea okay with you, it’s all I—”

He observes the now empty living room, scanning the room for the girl before walking to his kitchen window. From there he sees the girl running down his courtyard and out of his gate. An unreadable expression takes over his face as he watches her go.

Meanwhile Y/n is running for her life, she knows the stories about nine-tailed foxes and how they lure their victims in before ripping them apart and eating their liver. That man is most definitely a Gumiho and she is not here for it, she will not let some fox kill her today.

As she runs out the gate she pulls out her phone once again and notices that the fox has charged her phone to full battery…? Last time she checked it was at 15%.

As she unlocks her phone she notices all her missed calls and texts from her friends, including Beomgyu. Beomgyu!

Where is Beomgyu?!

No time for that now, she has to get away from that man’s house before he notices she’s gone and starts chasing her. It’s already 5:30pm she’s practically been gone a full day!

She runs down the street and doesn’t stop until she makes it to the bus stop, once safely in a bus she finally relaxes. Y/n takes a moment to breathe and take everything in during the bus ride but she can’t shake the feeling that someone or something is watching her. It’s starting to make her skin crawl.

Finally her stop comes and she can’t wait to finally be home. She feels much safer now that she’s back in a familiar place. As she’s walking and trying to figure out what she’s going to tell her friends, Y/n notices that she can hear footsteps behind her…?!

She glances behind her and through her peripheral vision and sees a hooded figure. Y/n gulps then starts walking quickly back to her house, maybe it’s just a coincidence.

As she continues on the path to her home she can still see the man following her.

“Oh my god… he’s come after me, hasn’t he?”

She pulls out her phone and instead of opening up her messages she opens Twitter and quickly sends out a tweet.

At this point she starts running down the street and can see her house in the distance, but she can’t even feel relieved because every step she takes the man takes like 20.

Y/n is damn near tears when she hears it, her saving grace. Her savior, Kang Taehyun!

She quickly answers the call and quietly whisper yells, “Kang Taehyun please come save me!”

“Y/n? Where are you?”, Taehyun asks calmly trying to comfort her and not scare her more than she already is. Also as to not let his anger out, because the idea of some creep following her home makes his blood boil.

The tears start to fall and she can’t help the way she starts to shake and openly sob at the sound of Taehyun’s soothing voice.

“I’m on my way home but since I’ve got off of the bus a strange man has been following me, please Tae… can you get here?”

“How far away are you from the house? Hm?”, she can hear rustling coming from his side and can hear the distinct sound of his car’s engine starting.

Through quiet sobs, “I-, I can see the house… it’s not that far but Tae I’m scared…”

“I know, it’s going to be okay. I’m coming, alright? I’ll be there soon just quickly get in the house and lock the door, okay?”

“O-okay…”, she then sprints into her house gate and as fast as possible enters the door lock code. After her shaky hands messed up the first time she finally gets it and rushes into the house dead bolting and chaining the door; and making sure from the inside it’s lock, on top of the door already automatically locking.

“I’m inside the house now, Tae”.

“Good. I’ll be there shortly, I promise. Are the windows closed?”

Y/n gasps and rushes to check and make sure all the windows are shut and locked.

“Y/nie~ I’m going to hang up now but I promise I’m coming. I’m almost there, baby. Once you check the windows go to your room and lock the door, okay?”

“Okay… please hurry Taehyun…”

“I will. I’ll see you soon, pretty”, and then he hangs up.

And as fate would have it the moment Taehyun hung up she can hear someone trying to open the door, to her absolute horror Y/n watches as the doorknob is jiggling back and forth.

“Oh my god… that fox has come for me… what do I do?” , she says aloud while grabbing her phone. But before she can do anything the person on the other side starts banging on the door and jiggling the knob more frantically.

And then she hears a voice yelling out to her from the other side of the door…

My Roommate is a Gumiho | 02. Beomgyu’s DRUNK-DAZE[D] (2,062 wrds)

A/N: This chapter and the next few will be mainly written but there will be social media posts within the chapter where appropriate.

“‘Don’t worry’ I said about an hour ago and I deserve to be punished for not listening to Kang Taehyun!”, Y/n groaned out as she dragged a very drunk and knocked out Beomgyu on her back. Which would’ve been more effective if he wasn’t a giant hanging off her back like a koala dragging his feet as she did all the heavy lifting. What did he think he was a child?

Stuck in her own head trying to gain the will to not just leave Beomgyu stranded in the streets and grumbling about how she wishes Taehyun was here. Suddenly she trips but catches herself before disaster, “Damn it!”

“Yah! How do you drink so much that you can’t even walk?! Where’s your conscience, you jerk! Making me drag you all the way home! Huh?! Choi Beomgyu!”

Beomgyu who previously had been pretending to sleep so he didn’t have to walk by himself, picks his head up and turns to face Y/n as best he can, “I’m not just missing my conscience but I got no girlfriend either!”

Straining to talk and carry this giant’s full weight any longer the poor girl exasperatedly starts begging him to help her.

“Wait— yah, wait! Gyu! You need to walk! Try walking. This isn’t going to work—”, Beomgyu whines in protest, “Prop yourself up! Please, please, please! Help me, Gyu! Prop yourself up! Please!”

It seems Beomgyu started feeling mercy for his friend because he started wiggling trying to wake up his now asleep limbs while whining like a fussy toddler… which seemed to do more harm than help because Y/n started to stumble over because he was moving too much.

“Gyu wait! Hold on! Stop! Please, please Beomgyu!!”, and down the two went falling to the ground.

Y/n tried to brace herself but ended up scratching her hands and banging her knee, Beomgyu who was on top of her uses her to push himself up and away as to not crush her but ends up pushing her back down so she stabs her elbow into the ground.

Wincing Y/n manages to hiss out, “Ow, ah— fucking shit!”, she sits up holding her now bleeding elbow with her scrapped and bleeding hands with tears in her eyes because of the stinging pain pretty much everywhere. Meanwhile Beomgyu managed to save himself from more serious injuries like Y/n but he did face plant on the floor only narrowly protecting his face with his arms, which did have small abrasions.

He groans in pain as a few passersby awkwardly avoid the two being of no help. Trying to stand up but falling back to the ground in pain due to the borderline gash on her knee.

With tears now free falling from the embarrassment or pain, she’s not even sure anymore Y/n turns to Beomgyu who’s drooling on the sidewalk, “Aish… should I just leave him here?”

The moment she spoke it was like a switch was turned on in Beomgyu and he suddenly pulls himself up looking dazed.

Y/n gasps in surprise, “Did you finally sober up? Are you okay? Beomgyu? Gyu please help me up!”

Ignoring her suddenly he pulls himself up and gets in a sprinting position, she looks at him confused but before she could say anything else he starts running down the street.

Horrified she absentmindedly replies, “That crazy idiot!”

She starts raising her voice with each word, “Yah! Choi Beomgyu! WAIT FOR ME!!”

She forces herself to stand up trying her best not to put pressure on her now bad knee, then she starts limping running after him. Y/n then hears Beomgyu’s drunken declaration of “Kim Minjeong! I really loved you!”

This triggers the injured girl to force herself to run faster after him but as if he can sense her he starts running even faster repeating his declaration of love for Minjeong.

Through ragged breaths the fed up girl manages to say aloud to no one in particular, “That stupid son of a gun , when I catch him I’m going to skin him alive!”

“KIM MINJEONG!”, he screams while turning a corner.

Before turning the corner Y/n stops to try and give her knee a break but then starts charging after him again. Only stopping when she sees Beomgyu sprawled out on top of a car practically cuddling it mumbling a goodnight song. She hobbles closer and notices the Lamborghini pendent on the car and how Beomgyu is drooling and fogging up the windshield.

He keeps repeating, “Sleep tight, my baby”.

Y/n gasps in horror at the sight before turn her gaze to the side where she sees a man with his back towards her smoking a cigarette in the most expensive clothes she’s ever seen.

Internally panicking because there’s no way someone as wealthy as whoever this man is wouldn’t have a complaint for Beomgyu jumping on top of his car and getting saliva all over it. Who knows if Beomgyu’s dented the car or not, there’s no way two broke college students could even afford to pay for any potential damages on this car.

“Uhm… excuse me sir?”, she hesitantly says while approaching the man, “Uh, by any chance uhm… is this your car?”

The stranger turns around at the sound of her voice and he is by far the most beautiful person Y/n has ever seen. He’s much younger than she initially thought he’d be and he looked like he was hand sculpted by the angels.

She can’t help but think to herself “how can someone so handsome possibly be human?”, she snaps out of it and focuses back on the man who’s said nothing so far but just a looks at her amused.

Y/n starts bowing profusely, “I’m so sorry I’m so sorry”, she keeps repeating between each bow. She then turns away from the man and starts grabbing Beomgyu trying to get him off the car which he puts up a fight against, hitting her and kicking her away from him.

“Have you gone insane?! Get down! Hey! Get down! GET DOWN!”, she yells as she finally pushes him off the car and onto the road. On the way down he grabs her arm successfully dragging them both down on to the cold dirty street. Y/n first slaps Beomgyu on the head before standing up and attempting to help him back up.

“You’ve gone totally insane, haven’t you? Huh?! Get up!”

“Let go~”, Beomgyu whines trying to pull his arm away for her as he lays on the street drooling on that now too.

“Let go of what?!”, she starts hitting his arm and anywhere she can reach as he rolls away from her.

“Let go of your future? Your life?!”, at her words Beomgyu now acting as a fussy child starts kicking the side of the man’s car.

“Go away! Leave me alone!”

“No, no, no, no! Stop it! You can’t do that! Please stop! Stop kicking the car! Oh my god, stop! Please!!”

The stranger man who has now moved closer to the two can’t help the chuckle that leaves him, going unnoticed by the pair. Finally he speaks up, “Your friend must be drunk”.

Y/n flinches at the sudden voice forgetting there was someone else there momentarily. Quickly standing up, leaving Beomgyu on the floor she turns to completely face the stranger.

“Ah yes… he is really… really drunk. Uhm he had a little too much to drink… I’ll give you my number… uhm I promise we’ll reimburse you for the damages… I’m so—”

“Are you a student?”, the man asks.

Y/n stumbles with her words a bit then answers him, “Yes… I’m in college… we both are! We go to HYBE University”.

The stranger hums glancing over at Beomgyu then to his car, “Forget it then, it’s not that badly damaged”.

“But still he caused you a nuisance… please you don’t have to feel bad—”

“It’s all right, you can go”.

Amazed and in awe of the handsome man Y/n absentmindedly says, “He’s really an angel on earth”.

“What?”

Shocked she said that out loud she snaps herself out of her daydream, “Huh? Nothing! Uhm then…”, she bows again, “thank you so much! I’m so sorry, really really sorry!”

While Y/n continues to apologize and bow profusely to the kind stranger suddenly Beomgyu is back on his feet and wraps an arm around her shoulder pulling her into his side. “What are you saying sorry for? You owe him nothing! How much do I owe the guy anyway?”

Annoyed she forcefully grabs his arm and pulls it off her dragging him closer to her face, “We won’t have enough, even if we sold off both of our organs. So shut up!”

Y/n with her grasp on Beomgyu’s body starts forcing him to bow to the stranger. She then smiles at the stranger and says, “We’ll be going now, then!”

She then pulls Beomgyu’s hair and hits him before making him bow again saying, “Hurry up! Apologize! Say you’re sorry to the nice man for causing him a nuisance! Say you’re sorry!”

Beomgyu who feels rather annoyed but doesn’t like being man handled finally mutters out an “I’m sorry”.

“Again we’re both so sorry, sir”, she then stands Beomgyu up right and grips both of his arms tightly so he won’t try and run away again.

Y/n then turns to look at Beomgyu’s face, “Come on, please this time try to stand on your own!”

Beomgyu starts wobbling his legs, suddenly they don’t work anymore and he starts falling on to Y/n who wasn’t ready for all his weight again. Especially now with her injuries that have since gone numb and just ache.

“Wait—, wait—,wait— be careful!”, despite her warning Beomgyu wiggles out of her hold and pushes her away from him. Y/n yelps as she falls back trying to regain balance but Beomgyu somehow in the midst of it all trips her. The stranger quickly grabs Y/n’s arm and pulls her into him.

At the sudden change in trajectory and movement from the man Y/n ends up slapping her hand hard on his chest, causing the man to cough. She sees something red fly out of his mouth and it confuses her.

Suddenly Y/n feels something fall in the back of her through and she chokes on whatever the foreign object is before swallowing it. Y/n suddenly lets go of the man and walks back confused on what she swallowed and forgets Beomgyu is on the floor behind her so she trips over his body.

The man then snaps out of his daze and grabs her again pulling her close. Y/n doesn’t know why but his face is weirdly close to her’s again and she swears she sees a red light once more but she slips and falls back on top of Beomgyu.

Unbeknownst to her the man was just in the process of taking back the red orb from her but because she slipped up at the last second the glowing red marble fell back into her mouth all too soon before the transfer could happen. She’s now swallowed the red orb once again.

Then man is shocked, he touches his lips with the pads of his fingers as he looks at a now passed out Y/n who’s on top of a whining nearly passed out Beomgyu. He stares at the young girl with a frown.

This young girl who’s practically an infant in comparison to him just swallowed his fox marble. Yeonjun couldn’t believe it, now if he focused his gaze on her he could see his normally red marble glowing a bright vibrant blue inside the girl’s stomach.

This was the first time he’s ever seen his fox marble glow blue… which that means it’s full of human energy… which means technically he completed his end of the bargain with the Mountain Spirit… which means he can finally turn human.

Then again it’s the first time the marble has been inside a human so of course it would be blue it’s surrounded by human energy.

“What to do, what to do”, thinks Yeonjun.

Just then he hears the girl’s phone ringing, he takes it out of her pocket and looks at the contact name. Yeonjun is confused because what in the world does this even mean?

My Roommate is a Gumiho | 01. It Took You 2 Weeks (2,529 wrds)

A/N: This took forever to write and edit but finally, the 1st chapter is posted!!!!!! Not entirely proof read but I tried to catch as many mistakes as possible.

The quiet atmosphere at the table was suddenly interrupted by the sound of a fried chicken bone clanking down on a plate, rather dramatically one might say. Around the small-ish table pushed in a corner near one of the big windows in the diner sat Kazuha, Y/n, and Taehyun on one side and across from them sat Kai, Beomgyu, and Chaeryeong.

Up until this moment to be frank the friends had all been quietly stewing with their thoughts after the incident on Twitter between Y/n and Minjeong, with the added insult to injury from Kai who couldn’t hold back from tagging the rest of that wretched friend group. Now it seemed Chaeryeong could no longer sit and stew, biting back her tongue.

Sighing dramatically she begins, “Man, I really hate Minjeong and her silly little goons”, she rolls her eyes before adding, “I mean her friends that basically live up her asshole—!”

“Cherry, keep your voice down people are starting to stare”, Taehyun adds through gritted teeth.

“No. Like come on! How dare she act all sweet and innocent… like she didn’t take everything from Beomgyu!”, Kai who quickly interjected after Taehyun.

It seems Huening Kai could no longer hold back his tongue because he now started unintentionally raising his voice a few octaves, “Quite literally bleeding him dry like a god damn vampire as Olivia Rodrigo would say. Then throwing him away like he’s some kind of piece of trash!”

“Guys stop talking so loud people—”

“Yah!”, Beomgyu exclaims cutting Taehyun off, “This is embarrassing! Please be quiet”.

Now it’s Y/n’s turn to let out her feelings, but unlike the others she keeps her tone down like Taehyun keeps reminding, “What a bitch, her and her group of followers. How can anyone stand being ruled by her?”

Y/n then turns to Taehyun pointing the piece of chicken she was eating at him, “Yah, I’m glad you got away from those monsters Kang Taehyun. They didn’t deserve you, you’re too good for them and they showed their true colors”, on the last syllable she takes a bite out of her chicken.

Beomgyu sighs and pours himself another drink, “Can we just stop talking about Minjeong’s friends? I’m tired of hearing about them”. Kazuha who was just observing the mess unfold starts to order some more bottles of beer knowing they’re all in for a long night.

“You know what? I knew it! I knew this would happen”, Chaeryeong quickly downs her current drink, “time and time again I told you Choi Beomgyu. You never listen, I said Kim Minjeong and her fucked excuse of so called friends—”, she looks at Taehyun, “no offense, were all trouble. ‘Just keep rejecting her Beomgyu’. ‘If she keeps bothering you I’ll take care of it’. ‘Just be direct with her so she’ll screw off’. But no, Cherry doesn’t know what she’s talking about”.

“It’s not Beomgyu’s fault, he didn’t even want her in the first place but that crazy bitch couldn’t take a hint and finally wore him down enough that he caved and gave her one date but Minjeong the master manipulator of course got exactly what she wanted, so she wouldn’t let go easy”, Kazuha finally spoke while opening a new bottle of beer to start pouring in her glass.

Through bites of his free fried chicken Kai starts yapping, “She bled Beomgyu’s bank account, then got mad he stopped buying stuff for her because news flash we’re all broke college students. Then in that same vein did that fucked up shit to Taehyun all because he stopped letting her sink her claws in him and control him. Minjeong turned her backs on both of them just because they weren’t useful to her anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was two timing Beomgyu with that other guy Heetong or whatever. It would explain how she could move on so easily and quickly”.

“Kim Minjeong isn’t capable of loving anyone but herself and controlling those around her with fear. Two timing bitch. There’s no way she wasn’t talking to Heeson the entire time she was Beomgyu”, Y/n adds with an eye roll wiping her hands with a napkin.

“Fucking bitch”, Taehyun says while opening a new bottle of beer and drinking it straight from the bottle, “I don’t know how long that was going on but I do know she was just keeping Heeseung around as a backup for convenience. She fucking hates him”.

Suddenly Beomgyu who wasn’t entirely part of the conversation or even drinking/eating anymore looks up after playing with his food deep in thought. He looks around at his friends and after a beat says, “But she wouldn’t do this to me… really. She wouldn’t do that to me.. so why—”, suddenly he chokes up and starts crying into his hands.

“Yah! Why are you crying? Just think of this as some kind of awful accident. That bitch doesn’t deserve your tears!”

“Cherry, I don’t think that’s helping”.

“No, Zuha she’s right. He needs to get over her already. She’s done nothing but continue to prove that she doesn’t give a fuck about him or his feelings. He needs to start seeing her for the bitch she is”.

Taehyun slams his bottle down on the table causing everyone at the table and even the surrounding area to look at him. “Yah, you think you’re helping any? Y/n, you and Chaeryeong are acting no better than Minjeong”, he starts to grumble and roll his eyes, “my god you’re all so fucking annoying”.

Y/n then turns her full body to Taehyun pushing his shoulder, “Hey, Kang Taehyun you want to talk about annoying? Watch your attitude, talk about us being like Minjeong? You’re acting just like her and her goons again. You’re supposed to be our friend now, act like it!”

“Whatever.”

“I think we all need to cool it, we shouldn’t let Minjeong and her goons ruin our night let alone cause us to fight. We’re all friends here”, Kazuha firmly states causing everyone to slump in their seats cutting the building tension in half.

Some time passes by there’s bottles piling up at the end of the table and empty chicken boxes stacked on top of each other. Some of the group stopped drinking and have empty glasses or ones with a little beer leftover and replaced them with a Coke or some water. A couple were still eating fried chicken (mainly Kai and Y/n) and others stopped. Meanwhile Beomgyu is still downing drinks while the others simultaneously keep giving him fake drinks that are just apple juice and forcing him to eat something in between. The night seemed to be going better compared to before but then Beomgyu starts crying again.

“I miss her so much…”

The gang starts looking at each other trying to figure out what to do or say to calm him down because they don’t want to accidentally trigger him again. Earlier after the first initial conversation about Minjeong he started crying loudly and they tried to comfort him more gently than the first time but it backfired greatly.

This time’s crying didn’t last long though because just as fast as it started it stopped with Beomgyu slamming his fists down on the table and loudly proclaiming, “Kim Minjeong! You evil bitch, I hope you shit your pants in front of everyone tomorrow! I hope your makeup bag falls and all your favorite glitter eyeshadow completely shatters!”

His friends stare in shock at his outburst and watch in horror as he pulls out his phone and clumsily tries to unlock it. Taehyun starts scolding Beomgyu from across the table, “Hey! No, no, no, no!”, he reaches over the table trying to snatch it from the heartbroken boy, “don’t touch your phone right now! Hand it over!”

“No! Leave me alone!”

“Someone take his phone!”

Y/n got up and quickly went around the table and starts fighting with a very drunk Beomgyu for his phone but he resists well.

“Choi Beomgyu! You’re causing a scene, just give me the phone!”

“No! I’m not doing anything!”

“No! Give it to me! You’re just going to call her and make a fool of yourself!”

“Leave me alone!”

Y/n manages to wrestle with Beomgyu a bit causing him to jut out his arm towards Chaeryeong who snatches the phone out of his hand and hands it to Taehyun.

“Thank you”, Chaeryeong says in a mockingly sweet sing-song voice as she takes the phone away from Beomgyu.

Now Beomgyu starts openly sobbing, the hardest he’s cried all night. Taehyun sighs while pocketing Gyu’s phone, “Don’t cry because I took the phone. Trust me you’ll thank all of us tomorrow morning for stopping you now”.

Like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum Beomgyu starts fussing and whining rather than crying, making a bigger scene while Kai tries to get him to drink some apple juice but at this point he’s figured out his “beer” wasn’t beer anymore and doesn’t want juice anymore. Kazuha was the first to cave and slides him her half full bottle she’d had pretty much for the last hour and a half-ish. Like a baby being handed a bottle he drinks it eagerly while the group just watches wondering how they’re going to deal with him tomorrow when he’s hungover.

After a short lived couple moments of silence suddenly Beomgyu takes the now empty beer bottle holding it like a mic and to the horror of the group starts singing for the whole diner.

“Come back to me~”

“The place where you belong—”, he starts getting louder and tries to stand up on his chair. Chaeryeong grabs his free hand trying to direct him back in his seat while Kai zips up his jacket all the way and flips his hood over his face in embarrassment. Kazuha is frozen in shock, Taehyun looks like a parent who’s lost all patience with their noisy child, and Y/n was begging Beomgyu to be quiet and sit down.

“— is right here!”, Beomgyu snatches his hand out of Chaeryeong’s grip and hits his chest where his heart is, “by my side!”

Now choking up and taking a very short break from singing to cry some more, Chaeryeong finally gets him to sit down again. Then he starts singing again but less enthusiastic and more depressed.

“Come back to me~”

During Beomgyu’s drunken high note he suddenly just face plants into the table causing a loud thud while he openly wails. Kai then picks him back up while Kazuha fawns over him asking if he’s okay. Ignoring her Beomgyu latches himself on to Kai and sobs into his shoulder while he awkwardly pats his back. Poor Huening Kai looked mortified because now the whole place is staring at them.

“Ah goodness”, Kazuha says as she moves a piece of Beomgyu’s hair checking his head for bruises, “poor thing. Now he has a knot on his head”.

Y/n grabs some fries that have gone rather untouched the whole night then adds, “He’s always been such a softy, he always gives his all to girls and gets nothing in return”.

“Even when it’s a girl he never wanted in the first place”, Chaeryeong says with a roll of her eyes pulling out her phone to text someone. Taehyun suddenly stands up fast hitting his knee on the table while looking at his phone, “Shit! I forgot I had English lessons with Jake today at 9. I have to go like now if I want to make it back to campus on time and grab my things”.

Beomgyu who was otherwise wallowing in his own misery perks up at Taehyun saying he’s leaving and yells, “NO!”

Jumping away from Kai he fumbles as he reaches over the table and grabs onto Taehyun’s hands begging him to stay, “You can’t go! I’m going to disinfect my broken heart with alcohol, all night!”

He lets go of Taehyun’s right hand but continues to grip his left and now with Beomgyu’s free hand he reaches for Taehyun’s forgotten beer bottle and takes a big gulp for emphasis. He hisses at the taste and starts coughing, “that’s bitter… it hurts”, he lets go of Taehyun all together and starts pounding on his heart again for emphasis, “it hurts right here, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts—”, and then he slumped back in his chair and face plants back into the table.

“Aish… why is he—”, Kazuha starts but then trails off while looking at the mess that is Beomgyu.

“You can go Taehyun, if you want to. It’s okay, really”, Y/n says while looking at Beomgyu with a sigh of something not quite disappointment but not really sympathy either.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, of course! You can go ahead”.

“Well since we carpooled are the rest of you ready to go?”, Taehyun asks looking around the table. Y/n then adds, “If you aren’t ready to go yet my house isn’t that far from here it’s just a short bus ride away”.

Chaeryeong starts standing and pulling her bag over her shoulder, “I have some homework to finish so I might as well leave now”.

“Well if Cherry is ready than I am too since we’re roomies”, Kazuha laughs, “Besides since I left practice early today for Beomgyu I have to make up time early in the morning so I should head back with Taehyun.

Y/n nods as both her and Taehyun look at Kai while the girls get up and stand with Taehyun ready to go.

“What about you, Kai?”

He seems to ponder for a moment and then answers Taehyun, “Yeah I guess I’ll go back with you. I don’t feel like riding the bus… not just because I’m broke”.

“Then it’s just me and the drunk dork”, Y/n says in what seems to be a teasing tone but also could be taken as sarcasm.

Taehyun doesn’t seem to like that answer, “Are you sure you want to stay here with him? I’m sure Kai and I could manage to drag him out back to their dorm”.

Kazuha then hits Beomgyu on the back of the head, not enough to hurt him but if he was sober he would have dramatically yelped and started pouting at her. Instead he just groaned drooling on the table.

“He’s completely wasted, are you sure you want to deal with him alone?”

“Don’t worry about it Zuha”, Y/n looks back at Taehyun and continues, “This isn’t the first time, don’t worry about us. You guys can go, I’ll take him home with me. Yujin won’t mind sharing a bed with him”, she jokes.

Taehyun still seems unsure but looks at the time once more on his phone, “Okay… call me if anything happens with that loser”, he gestures to Beomgyu, “I’ll come back if you need me to”.

“Of course, now go! Don’t worry I can handle him, promise!”

“Fine, call me when you get home”.

“Okay!”

After an exchange of goodbyes from the more coherent friends and Y/n being given Beomgyu’s confiscation phone. Taehyun, Kai, Kazuha, and Chaeryeong leave both Y/n and the heartbroken Beomgyu alone.

Nine-Tailed Foxes + The Mountain Spirit

Written Description Included

Choi Yeonjun: A 999-year old fox who wished to become human and the Mountain Spirit granted his wish on one condition if he could turn his red fox marble blue by filling it with human energy before he turned 1,000 years old. If not he will die and the world will forget he ever existed. After living so long he gave up on his dream and is ready to die so he doesn’t care to fill his fox bead with human energy anymore, stopping a long time ago. He lives a lonely existence by choice and can be pretty cold but he’s actually really caring. Oh did I mention he’s rich from the years upon years of being alive? He also has a better grasp on how to be human than Jimin and likes learning and building his skills despite the misery of a long existence.

Yu Jimin: A 700-year old fox who also wished to turn human and met the conditions given by the Mountain Spirit to turn her red fox marble blue with human energy. She may have seduced a lot of men to get what she wanted but her hard work paid off and she’s been human for the past 4 years. She doesn’t understand metaphors or rhetorical questions and isn’t good at the whole being human thing. She hates studying, learning, and working so she just doesn’t. She’s close to Yeonjun only because they’ve known each other for 100s of years, secretly she cares for him a lot and wishes he wanted to live rather than die… because he’s all she has. Also a little snobby and has expensive taste, comes off as rude but also is very nice… after you get to know her.

The Mountain Spirit: What is known as the Mountain Spirit is the one who grants the nine-tailed fox’s wishes on the basis of them filling their fox beads with human energy and returning it to them. The Mountain Spirit has two faces one of a man and one of a woman, they use whichever face they see fit for whatever purpose they wish. They are more commonly known as God by humans. It is also very hard to reach them and to defy them. It also seems the Mountain Spirit has a vendetta against Yeonjun the nine-tailed fox. The only version of them that our foxes Jimin and Yeonjun know is the male representation of them.

Choi Soobin 🐰: 00’ liner. Studying history at HYBE University. Honestly only puts up with Minjeong because they were childhood friends and she wasn’t the way she is now back then. He hates being a dick to everyone and is still upset about what happened with Taehyun and Beomgyu because he actually liked them. To be frank the only one he actually considers his friend in this small group is Seunghan. He has a reputation of being a player because of Minjeong when in reality he’s the complete opposite. Wants to think he’s a good guy but he enables Minjeong and contributes to her bad behavior so he knows he can’t really consider himself good.

Kim Minjeong: 01’ liner. Studying fashion at HYBE University transferred in 2022 from SM University. Is Regina George if Regina George was Korean and maybe even meaner. She has to have things her way or she’ll throw a fit. The definition of a narcissist, she gaslights her friends and even victims into thinking they’re the problem. Honestly she’s gaslit herself into thinking she’s the victim of everything, even if she’s the one who brought it on her self.

Lee Heeseung: 01’ liner. Studying programming at HYBE University. Honestly out of the whole group he’s what they would normally call a “loser” and “nerd”. Minjeong has him wrapped around her finger and he’s too blind by love to realize she’s manipulated him to hell and back. Glimpses of his old self can only be seen when he’s playing games online with his online bestie bamtoori but recently he’s ghosted him. So now all that’s left of himself is the version of him Minjeong has created.

Hong Seunghan: 03’ liner. Studying music at HYBE University was forced to transfer from HYBE to SM University then eventually let back into HYBE after being kicked out of SM. He’s been under Minjeong’s thumb since high school and she’s betrayed him more than once. She’s the reason he was forced to transfer to SM and yet he still sticks to her like glue. Honestly though he’s been pushed to his breaking point already but stays for his best friend Soobin, even if he’s not aware that’s the reason he still lets Minjeong walk all over him.

Danielle Marsh: 04’ liner. Studying teaching at HYBE University. The newest member in the group that replaced Taehyun, essentially. She’s honestly such a sweetheart and is extremely nice but… she’s a bit naive. Being a loyal friend and naive isn’t a good mix when it comes to Minjeong. Danielle hates bullying and being mean but Minjeong has manipulated her into thinking that it’s them against the world, and Minjeong is always the victim so she unintentionally became a bully herself.

Choi Wonhee: 07’ liner. Currently a high school student in 10th grade. Soobin’s annoying bratty little sister who lives to make his life miserable but despite everything is a good sister and loves her brother… even if she won’t admit or show it.
