Sacred Whispers Part 2: Dingus's Unite

~Chapter 2: Dingus's Unite~

   Steve woke up the following morning smiling. He picked up his phone and debated if he should text the person he was talking to last night. He decides to text them.

Steve:

Good morning

Hope you have an awesome day

   He put his phone down and got ready for work. He waited for a text back. He takes his time getting ready for work. As he was getting ready, his phone went off.

Unknown:

Good morning, Stevie Boy

Hope you have a good day at work. 

   Steve looked at his phone and smiled. He decided to ask a simple question.

Steve:

Am I ever going to know who you are?

Unknown:

One day you will

Steve:

I want to know who you are

Unknown:

All in good time

Steve:

Alright, alright.

At least give me something to call you

Unknown:

You can call me Menace

~Steve changed Unknown’s name to Menace~

Steve:

There. Your name has been set

Menace:

Thank you

Steve:

What do you have me as?

Menace:

I have you set as Pretty Boy

   Steve just looks at the texts from Menace not knowing what to make of them. He still had no idea that he was texting Eddie. Steve puts his phone down and finishes getting ready for work. Once he was done, he grabbed his phone, wallet, and his keys. He walks out of his house to his car. He gets into his car and starts it. He pulls out of the driveway and heads to pick up Robin for their shift.

   Steve was in his car driving toward Robin’s to pick her up for their shift at Scoops Ahoy. He wanted to tell her about the recent texts he was getting from this unknown person who asked him to call them Menace until he could find out who they were. Steve was trying to wrack his brain on who it could be. He pulls up outside of Robin’s house and honks the horn letting her know he was there to pick her up.

   Robin runs out the front door of her house after hearing the familiar car horn honking outside. She runs to Steve’s car hauls open the passenger door and gets inside sitting down with a huff. She throws her bag into the backseat. She looks over at Steve. “Hey, Steve. Why are you looking like you’re stressed? You’ve not even worked yet.” She smiles playfully at him.

   Steve looks over at Robin with a raised eyebrow. “I’m not stressed. I’m pondering something. I have been getting texts from an unknown number since last night. They won’t tell me who they are.” Steve puts his car in drive and heads toward Scoops Ahoy. The thought of who it was that was texting him was driving him insane.

   Robin looks at Steve with an almost amused look. This was something she could poke fun at him over. She smirks and nudges Steve lightly. “Ooh! So you’ve got a secret admirer?” She giggles as she looks out of the car window. “It’s surprising that anyone likes you.” She jeers playfully at him. She has always loved pushing Steve’s buttons.

   Steve chuckles softly. “I guess I do. I just wish I knew who it is. The last texts they sent me have made my head spin.” Steve pulls out his phone from his pocket and hands it to Robin. He was still bewildered by the texts. He had left Menace on read. He didn’t know how to respond. “Open up my text messages. It’s under the name Menace.”

   Robin takes Steve’s phone. She scoffs and giggles wiping the screen with the shirt of her uniform. “Do you ever clean this thing? I don’t know where your hands have been.” She unlocks Steve’s phone and it is already open on the messages from ‘Menace’. She shakes her head as she reads back on the interaction. She comes across the messages mentioning her. She immediately knows who this is. She remembered Eddie coming to her to get Steve’s number. She texts the number back.

Steve:

Why don’t you meet me in an hour at Scoops Ahoy? ;)

   She smiles and sends the message. She mentally facepalms as she places the phone down on the center console.

   Steve glances over at her as she places his phone on the center console. “So? What can you make out of the last texts I was sent? How do I respond to that? What do I even do?” Steve was baffled by the texts. He keeps driving to Scoops Ahoy. His mind was wandering and he couldn’t think of anything but those texts.

   Robin connects the eye contact. She has a glint of mischief in her eyes. She wasn’t going to let slip that she had invited Eddie over to Scoops Ahoy. She wanted the amusement of watching this happen. She sighs and smiles. “I don’t know, Steve. But for sure you should find out more about them. They seem to really like you.”

   Steve looks over at Robin quickly. “You really think so? Did you get that from those texts?” He noticed a glint in her eye that he knew meant trouble. “What are you up to, Buckley? I know that look in your eye. You did something.” Steve looks back at the road and keeps driving. They were almost at Scoops Ahoy.

   Robin rolls her eyes, she knows that Steve is trying to find out what she did but she isn’t going to waiver. She was going to let this fester and consume him. She was going to enjoy the shock on Steve’s face when Eddie walked into Scoops. “Don’t worry about it, Steve. I can’t wait to add to the board how many times you lose.” She smiled, she knew this would be believable as it was a regular routine between herself and Steve.
