actually, I find it interesting how Eren and Mikasa barely appeared and didn't even interact with the Beast Titan in Vol 9, yet Isayama focused on the three of them in its cover 👁️ EM only appeared in ch 37 and then in the final page of ch 38 (vol 9 contained ch 35-38)

I doubt many of you have seen Anne with an E, but I recently watched the last season and here’s a romantically framed scene and its visible similarities to that Eren and Mikasa scene from chapter 123.

In AWAE, Gilbert suddenly wonders about Anne’s feelings for him as he’s on the verge of taking a very important life decision. He implies that the only thing stopping him from taking said decision is her. Taken aback, Anne can’t even pick up the words or finish sentences to give him a proper answer, as she realizes what all of it means. Then, they get interrupted. 

It’s known that people and fictional characters often ask their love interest literally the same thing Eren asked to Mikasa in 123, “what am I to you?”. In AWAE, Gilbert didn’t ask Anne the same question, but the character’s expressions, the scene composition, timing and its core resembled the SnK one too much for me to ignore, so I found it interesting enough to share. And hey, I’m not saying Mikasa was the uwu only thing stopping Eren from deciding to do everything he thinks he needs to do, though it was obviously relevant for him to know “what” was him to her and where they stood before he took the path that we already saw him take.
