The door closed with a soft click.

Akaashi gently took off his shoes, quietly placing them on the rack. The apartment was dark, only the dim light of the outside peering through the open blinds. From this, Akaashi had assumed you were asleep and made his movements towards your shared room even more hushed. However as soon as he peeked through the bedroom door, he was surprised to see you hunched over your desk, hair disheveled and letting out slow, soft breaths.

“...kei..ji...you’re late.”

“I know baby, I’m sorry.” Akaashi placed his hand on your back, bending down to kiss your head.

“What’s that in your hand?”

Instinctively, Akaashi hid the bag behind his back.

“U-um..well..”

Wide awake now, you sat up and leaned over to see what he was hiding. Sighing in defeat, Akaashi brought out the gift bag and reached inside.

“You weren’t supposed to see this until tomorrow but...” Akaashi pulled out the contents, stacked on top of one another and secured tightly with a ribbon. “For you.”

Rubbing your eyes a bit harshly now, you blinked a few times before making out what he was holding in front of you.

Manga? No. Not just any manga. Your favorite manga. Volumes ranging from your current favorite shōjos to shōnens.

“K-Keiji! I don’t know what to say! Thank you!” You immediately embraced the man who chuckled softly into your hair.

“Alright, but go to sleep (y/n)-san, read these in the morning.”

“Well you’ve got me wide awake now and there’s no going back!”
