@outofthiisworld got stuck.
In a town this size, he had noticed there were not a lot of elevators. To be fair the tallest building was about six stories and was an office space as far as he could tell. He was glad this place did though given the armful of family reunion supplies he had picked up for his mom. Entering it there was an older man with several packages of unknown contents already in there. Nathan tried to give him as much space as possible in such a small space and hit the first floor button with his elbow if it wasn't already pressed.
"You a local?" He begun chatting in a chipper tone. "I'm just here with my mom for a bit but this place has been so nice. Such a cool vibe. Hey, anywhere you think-"
Before he could finish his question the elevator let out a sudden crunching sound and grinded to a halt. It had broken.
"Oh no," Nathan looked at the doors with a frown. "...So do you think you're up to helping me try to pry these open? I think I can manage if you aren't,"

The man's comment did reveal he is a local, but at this point Nathan is too distracted trying to figure out what angle to try prying the door open at to think of asking him about what attractions he'd recommend. Maybe once they were free of this hunk of junk.
Nathan wonders what in earth this guy might have up his sleeve, but then again the guy is an old dude in a rural area he could have just about anything on him and Nathan wouldn't question it much. He pumps his fist "Brute force for the win!"
Nathan gets on the opposite side of Doc and gets a grasp of the door, while he is by no means a strength trainer, he is pretty athletic and that was about to come in handy. "Okay, one... two... three!"
They pry the doors apart only to reveal that the elevator stopped between floors, and that they can't climb down or up out of the shaft. Nathan looks at it despairing. "You've gotta be kidding me,"
He hides his face in his hands. Slightly muffled he asks. "How fast are the fire department here?"
