There were actually two people riding in the rickshaw here as she had her baby laying down to rest in a shaded and ventilated baby carrier backpack. This was a short hop transportation ride on a blazing hot August day. We started at a metro station, and finished at the Lincoln Memorial. The Waldorf Astoria Hotel at the Old Post Office. The romanesque revival Old Post Office, finished in 1899, once served as DC’s main post office, until the beginning of World War One. Afterwards, it served as a federal office building. It was twice threatened by demolition proposals, first in the 1930’s, and again during the 1970’s. In 2013, the Trump organization leased this building from the owner, the federal government, and renovated it into a hotel which opened for business in 2016.
