My personal interpretation of the wake up mechanic in engage is that Alear has trouble waking up on their own— and not just like ‘oh five more minutes’, it’s a physical struggle to wake up thanks to their previous sleep. So not just because of that (but it helps) they also have a fear of going to sleep and not waking up again for another thousand years. So everyone passing wake-up duty around is their way of helping to ease that fear… and also get their leading commander up on time to go march

been thinking about Kurow for a bit these past few weeks and how we all decided collectively that he comes back because fuck that kid didn't deserve what he got and in the same vein of that, i think that in the later years, Kurow's on like, body number three. I don't think that the ones that are created for him age like normal bodies do, because let's face it, he's not normal by any means. so he's hooked up with this more adult one because all his friends were changing and growing up and he just... wasn't. And this-- however you choose to envision him-- is just how he's gonna look for the rest of his days... unless he really wants another new body. and those things don't come cheap.
