I thought for sure it would be the expansion of wind and solar energy but, although they are still top contenders, refrigeration takes the cake. This means changing the refrigerants used in air conditioners, freezers, and refrigerators from #CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) and #HCFCs (hydrochlorofluorocarbons) to natural refrigerants like #propane and #ammonium will yield the single biggest impact on improving the quality of the air we breathe. Properly #recycling and disposing of refrigerants is another crucial part of this solution. We can act individually by ensuring the proper disposal of our AC units and refrigerators.
