Holy Diver Dio Released May 25 1983 The first time I heard this album when it was released, I knew that my allegiance to heavy metal music was going to be a lifelong passion. Starting off side one with the heavy prowess of the concert crowd pleaser "Stand Up & Shout" you knew this album would just rock your world.  Holy Diver is an all time standard of the awesomeness of Ronnie James Dio as he brings a great dramatic performance of this classic to life.  The entire album is full of great songs chock full of his extraordinary guitar chords, and the heavy drumming that is a headbanger's dream! The guitar solos are distinctive to each of the songs and really bring out the rainbow of colors of this album!  This is a must have for any 80's Vinyl Rock Collector looking to have an excellent example of that era. Greatest Hits 1974 - 78 Steve Miller Band Released November 1978 My generation grew up with some great music.  One of the greatest bands I grew up listening to is The Steve Miller Band.  Their hits actually spawned starting from the 70's all the way to the 80's.  It was always an easy choice to have them on my playlist. Slippery When Wet Bon Jovi Released August 18 1986 If there is one rock album in the 80's that seemed to be playing everywhere it was Slippery When Wet.  When this album came out it was Bon Jovi insanity.  I remember a friend of mine in high school even sported that Bon Jovi long hair (will not give out names but his initials are B.A.M.)  Never got to see them play in concert which would have been cool to see Richie jam on the guitar.   Tonight I'm dedicating this record spin to Cindy Lockwood Miller.  She is and always will be the biggest Bon Jovi fan that I know of.  In high school she was the most school spirited person I know.  Now she is in the arms of our Lord. Blackout Scorpions Released March 22 1982 This album "Blackout" is a landmark album for me.  If you love heavy metal guitar leads, you cannot do better than dual lead guitars from Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs.  This is their 8th studio album, interesting fact Don Dokken is credited with backing vocals.   Side One Blackout - This song is the reason why there are 2 lead guitars in the band, love the left and right channel separation! Can't Live Without You - Guitar chugging rhythm, great song No One Like You - Absolute classic song! Always been on every Heavy Mix tape I've ever made!  You Give Me All I Need - I consider this a great rock acoustic / electric ballad.   Now! - Used to speed skate to this song at the "Skatin Place" back in high school on a friday night, only problem was that I used the pony walls on the side to come to a sudden stop! Chuck Berry Everyone has done a cover of "Johnny B. Goode", who do you think makes a great cover of this song? For any of us who love Rock and Roll, then you know that Chuck Berry is the Father of Rock and Roll.  That iconic guitar riff still rings true in many of the rock bands that have played and are still playing.  Johnny B. Goode is the song that all other rock songs borrow from.  If not borrowed then it has been covered by hundreds of bands throughout rock history.  Just recently I played a cover of the song by Judas Priest, which I remember playing over and over again as a teen.  The song has been a staple in films, most notably "Back To The Future".  When learning to play the guitar, you will learn this guitar riff and as soon as you learn it, playing guitar becomes more clear. This is a perfect example of a Chuck Berry record that includes some of his great hits.   Side One Johnny B.
