Like in isolation maybe some of the stuff with the villagers could be excusable, but they're "money hungry," balding traders with big noses and unibrows, who are protected as creatures referred to as golems.

And yes golem is a very appropriated word, but it was an active choice by a known racist asshole to call these creatures golems, despite the fact they were pretty much entirely based on automatons/robots with no ties to actual golems besides with how they protect a specific group of people.

It is infuriating how people ignore these facts and how even now, Mojang refuses to redesign the villagers, and going so far as to try to make a new golem mob a couple years ago.

I guess maybe it shouldn't be too surprising given they're based in Sweden (a notably racist, antisemitic and xenophobic country) but it is really disappointing on part of a company thats game has reach worldwide.

Every now and again the urge comes to me to talk about how often villager/pillager original characters end up looking scarily like antisemitic propaganda and how maybe we should try to stray away from these horrible caricatures but then i remember how my gentile friends reacted when i point out that the villagers are scarily similar to antisemitic portrayals (especially when we remember who Notch is as a person) and i sigh and put my head in my hands

Thinking again about how Alex included Jay on the Marble Hornets website despite him not having a role. Ok.

I know logically it shouldn't bother me and I should block and move on, but this is such a small fandom space and I have never liked blocking folks who show up in my notes occasionally. But idk I also am looking for media literate people when I engage in fandom though, I've always been an analysisfiend, so thats why it bugs me though and that frustration isn't worth it.

I think I love characters in this fandom pretty evenly, but the way people lack media comprehension when it comes to Tim Wright unironically makes my fur poof up.

It reminds me a lot of Minecraft Youtuber's writing styles, to be honest. There's too much of doing stuff because it would be shocking to/make fun of/be an "inside joke" to the audience, but don't actually make a stronger story. His writing can be really strong in regards to comedy, but for stories over all, its iffy. Its passable to me, but I don't know, it isn't my cup of tea.

Tbh I really do not like Deltarune (I generally kind of disagree with Toby Fox's writing I've found :-V) but some of the fanart does pop off a lot.

I loveeee extrapolating the different character dynamics in MH from this dispositions and what we see of them. Tbh its a good writing warmup and it makes me feel more self assured.

Skully/Taylor is such an untapped market you don't understand man. AU where Skully actually works with/talks to Taylor and Jessica and the former kinda gets into beef with how anomalous Skully is, because she's used to analyzing and solving problems but she can't solve them.
