Sitting here going through my fon. Thinking about the many lounges, cocktail bars and intimate venues I’ve had the pleasure of creating vibes for. Thoughtfully curated decor with a well thought bar program and musically diverse vibes and patrons. The more intimate spaces resonate for me based on the idea that they allow for djs to expand the journey musically. Not quite free from expectations of crowds, but having guests be open to the narrative unbound by a few popular genres. Cocktail culture deserves a far more expansive pallet of sounds to accommodate it. My desire to further collaborate with venues hasn’t changed, but my concern lives in the idea that the dj playing field seems more narrow in curations. That the audiences would almost have to be overly diverse for it to be justified. This is not an admission I like concluded to, especially based on the idea that most genres derive from one people. A people that end up railroaded chasing repetitious experiences due to chancing commerce. Yes I’m in the den @parlorden every Thursday around 9p , serving a very thoughtfully curated vibration. No, I don’t want everyone. I want people who understand the need to be free. People who are accepting of sonic artistry known and unknown. @allanonsax People who are open minded and get the pairing of craft cocktails, lite bites and an eclectic mix of danceable music. Those people will understand a destination location, supporting a black owned business, that is women lead.
