Edersee, part 1

Whoohooo! It works! Mostly. Just had to update my graphic driver, after I ruled out my browser as the culprit. It’s still wonky though.

Picture quality will be meh, because I didn’t take my camera with me and I’m a rather lousy photographer. Still, you get an impression.

So, yes, there is supposed to be water here but the drought took its toll.

Water at last. This has to do with the fact that they flooded the village that stood here, back in 1914, when the dam was build. Nieder Werbe still exists a little uphill - but they never forgot and they never forgave...

Once in a while an oak tree will appear to change up the scenery. It’s part of a national park so they try to leave nature to itself if at all possible.

They told us that the water level is 5 to 15m below normal for this time of the year. And it shows.

There’s a cute little castle (Schloss Waldeck) right where the sun touches the hill, which was build first in the 12th century and has been expanded later on, especially in the 17th century. Today it includes a hotel but very tastefully integrated - so still worth a visit.

 I’m going to make a cut here, because I had to start over several times already.
