laughter. riki’s favourite sound. and not just any laughter. your laughter.

with your eyes half shut, head swung back and tummy hurting in pure bliss, sounds of joy left your lips, all because of something silly riki had said that you already barely remember. you don’t even know why you found it funny, but perhaps that’s a quality that ran in your close friendship with riki: any crazy, ridiculous thing your best friend would do or say could so easily elicit laughter from you. he likes to call it a talent, and you just roll your eyes at the thought.

you and riki weren’t the only ones at the table. on the other side of you was jake, and sitting across was sunoo and jungwon as you all shared a nice, warm meal together that jake had ordered earlier. and there you five sat on their empty practice room floor after a long day.

a satisfied sigh finally left your lips once you recovered and got control of your breathing again. realizing you were full, you turned to your side and faced riki with a grin. he looked at you through the sides of his eyes but didn’t question your motives. and before he knew it, his body was being pushed away slightly as you adjusted the position of his legs that were once crossed, now spread apart.

already knowing what you wanted, he opened up his arms for you, and you sat yourself right in front of him, back facing his body, and you leaned against him, letting your weight fall onto his.

his arms wrapped around and encapsulated you before you brought yours out from under his, your hands easily finding their way to his wrists.

“you better not fall asleep,” he said quietly beside your ear, almost sending a rush down your spine. his tone was as though he was offering you some sort of deal, that if he were to let you do this with him, the only condition would be that you don’t fall asleep.

and so you nodded but decided to be a little rebellious, closing your eyes anyway, despite it being against what he had told you.

the few minutes that went by weren’t enough for you to fall asleep yet, and suddenly you heard sunoo and jungwon giggling across from you. you were still fully conscious, just unable to see behind your eyelids, and you could hear as they snapped a picture of you because someone forgot to turn their phone’s sound off. you only continued to pretend to be asleep as you heard and felt riki chuckle against you as he found you cute and funny.

however, you lulled into such a relaxed state that you eventually did fall into a nice–though short–slumber, content in riki’s arms.

the way he brushed your hair from your eyes, and the way he watched you adoringly went unnoticed by you who was asleep in his arms, and is something you’ll never be aware of… that is until you see all the pictures and videos sunoo took but were not long lived as his giggles were a dead giveaway and had riki stopping him (not only because he was embarrassed but also because he didn’t want anyone to wake you).

just know that riki adores you–and he’ll never let this reach your ears, but… he wishes that you’d use him like this more often.

A/N. had a dream that was exactly like this and so i decided to write it for y’all to experience it too :’> idk why it was riki and NOT JAKE THO???? but i think it turned out pretty cute so :D hope you enjoyed! letting me know you did would mean a lot to me <3 thanks for reading!

The Lee house was draped under a veil of utter darkness mixed with silence. After all, it was nearly eleven, yet you stirred awake every few minutes fighting the restlessness in your muscles.

The only sounds were your occasional sighing and a tick of the small clock on your nightstand. A woolly comforter draped over your body with an anchoring weight, no longer a fluffy cloud it suffocated you.

Sighing once more, you threw it off and it slid down the bed.

"Much better", you thought. Despite the winter chill embracing your bones, you finally felt like you were able to breathe. A couple of deep breaths and you could feel the crawling warmth of slumber.

The room suddenly lit up for a flash and your phone vibrating and lighting up shattered the trance you worked hard on.

This time you sighed out of annoyance and turned the device upside down. You fluffed your pillow and flipped it to the cold side.

Peace and silence were found once more.

Until there was a small tapping sound coming from your window. You decided to ignore it. However, the bird would not stop pecking the glass. Frustration laced your expression when you got up and stomped toward the window, ready to flick the bird away.

You threw your curtains apart and were met by the beloved sight of-

"Riki?", you questioned in pure astonishment.

The boy stared at you, eyes blown wide and nose red from the cold. He was perched on the tree branch that was near your window, hands gripping tightly for his dear life.

"Open up!" he whispered loudly.

Swiftly, you unlocked the window, slid the pane and grabbed onto your boyfriend's shoulders.

Niki winced at your force.

"Can you loosen up a-"

It was insane how he assumed you would react normally to him climbing a tree in the middle of the cold night to try to reach the first floor of your house. When all was icy and wet from the winter ambience, he could have lost his footing easily.

You had overestimated your strength and were unable to handle the boy's weight. He was taller and broader than you- a trait you loved on a usual day. Made you feel secure and comfortable but in one swift motion, his right foot imbalanced and your elbow collided harshly with the window panel, resulting in your bodies tumbling inside and toppling over one another.

Titling backwards, you let your head fall onto your arm yet felt no pain anywhere. When you opened your eyes, you were relieved to discover that Riki's quick reflexes stopped him from crushing you but unfortunately, the boy tried to soften your fall by lending an arm to cushion your head. He held his body upwards by his right elbow, your noses a feather away, his necklace ice on your collar bones. You could see your worried face reflected in the pools of mirth in his brown eyes. If his arm was in pain, he didn't dare show it.

"Hey, gorgeous," he joked but stopped chuckling when he saw your frown.

He slithered his arm from under your head and sat near you.

"I'm fine. Really."

You roll your eyes playfully but Niki notices how stern your tone is when you speak.

"Please knock at the door like a normal person next time, or at least text me."

The boy was visibly offended by your words, his shoulders hunched in a shrug and his brows furrowed in an accusing manner.

"I did text you!"

Oh…so that was his message, you realised albeit too late. You gazed up at him bashfully, neck heating up despite the chill in your room.

He gave you a pointed look which screamed "I told you so" so you pulled a classic Rizz move and leaned forward to find solace in his arms.

His shoulders shook as he giggled, his nose brushed against your hair he sniffed loudly.

"Woah you stink."

You mimicked his offence by shoving the boy away from you and glaring at him an with angry frown. He laughed loudly at the reaction he anticipated and watched you crawl on the bed. He stood up and waited for you to scoot over but you pulled your heavy blanket on your legs and stretched your limbs like a starfish.

He gazed down at you expectantly.

"I should have let you freeze outside," you spoke cooly.

Riki gasped rather obnoxiously. You saw how your words settled in his genius brain and the exact moment his gears turned as he came up with a plan for revenge.

When he drew closer, you swiftly scooted away from him and wrapped the blanket around yourself as a shield but it was no use because you had backed yourself against the wall and Riki was coming at you with his arms reaching out and fingers bent, ready to tickle the apologises and life out of you. Your cool resolve shattered instantly and a spurt of apologies rained but he paid no mind.

Before he could even touch you, laughter left your mouth due to nervousness and reflexes.

The poor bed jumped and shrieked as Riki pounced on it and began to unleash his true strength. One hand held your wrist away from you and pinned it on the wall while his other hand moved and hovered over your body.

Despite not exactly tickling you, your face was red from how much you were already giggling. Air escaped you like a can that was being compressed in hydraulic press videos Riki shared with you.

Unfortunately, a terrifying voice interrupted the sweet moment and drained the blood from both of your bodies.

Riki's hand that was rapidly hovering had grabbed your waist in panic and his grip on the other one tightened, once again in panic. His eyes searched for you but you were too busy not trying to piss the bed as you stared at your elder brother who had materialised out of nowhere.

"Having fun are we?"

When you tore your eyes away from his figure to glance at Riki, you winced. The poor boy looked three seconds away from running away and jumping out of the same window he came from. You grabbed onto his hand to ground him.

Heeseung saw the movement and rolled his eyes like a Disney teen movie elder brother. Then he looked dead in your eye as he scolded you.

"Do you know how loud you are? It's like you want to wake up mom and dad. I could hear you through my headphones!"

At his tone, Riki seemed to gain a bit of courage as he kissed his teeth and turned to the eldest probably to say something all the lines of "Don't talk to her like that!" But his chivalry was cut short when Heeseung interrupted him before he could even open his mouth.

"And you," Heeseung pointed like a menace, "you literally left 3 hours ago. What the hell?"

Riki's knight in shining armour image crumbled and he bowed his head in shame. It hurt to see his downturned lips, you were too used to his teasing smile.

You weaved a gentle hand through his locks and he let a small smile peek through.

Your brother had moved on from his impromptu scolding session and he marched to your window and slammed it shut as gently as he could. It was clearly all for show, you knew his manners too well.

He pretended to be irritated just to spite and scare Riki for the boy had pranked Heeseung before dinner, a few hours ago. He persisted in teasing Heeseung by not passing him the salad and pouring water into his glass until the liquid threatened to spill out.

Your parents found Riki's actions refreshing and adorable. They were too accustomed to grown men so Riki's youthful personality was a breath of fresh air.

You couldn't agree more.

Heeseung continued his rampage. "Did he come through the window? At least close it! It's so cold here you idiots will get sick in no time."

You and Riki exchange a look, almost (keyword: almost) bashful of your forgetfulness but it didn't matter when Riki's embrace was like sitting next to a fireplace on a cold winter's night.

Heeseung continued rambling but Riki's eyes were filled with so much adoration that you couldn't force yourself to look away.

Your brother began to leave but before he did so, he kicked Riki's hastily discarded shoes under your table and threw an accusing finger at the boy.

"Don't do anything stupid."

Riki gave him a love-sick smile and salute. Heeseung fake scoffed and stormed out though he closed the door softly.

Immediately Riki's hands snaked around your waist to pull you. He pulled you down and the two of you were greeted by pure softness and comfort as the blanket draped over your bodies.

You slapped his hands when Riki's fingers twitched to threaten you. Warm breath met your ear along with his giggles and he buried his face in your hair once more.

"He's such a freak," Riki whispered with no real malice.

You exhaled through your nose and nodded your head in agreement. Moments of serene silence filtered through, just you and the boy you loved entering dreamland together.

When his breathing evened out and his grip felt limp, you broke the silence.

"Thank you for coming."

It was such a quiet confession that you swore Riki's asleep self wouldn't be able to catch it but his grip on your waist tightened once more. His voice was gruff with sleep yet somehow even more saccharine than yours.

"Anything for you, love."

a/n riki’s birthday special!

december 2015

you and riki were childhood neighbours - having known each other since a few months old, you did everything together. anyone living in your small neighbourhood would call you two ‘attached at the hip’.

you two were always together, sticking up or helping each other whenever you had to - when riki had to go to the doctors, but he didn't want to so he insisted you come along with him; when you got pushed at the playground, so he stood in front of you like the hero he thought he was, and yelled at the other children that you were fragile and couldn't be touched.

when you got a bit older, riki would facetime you with your ipads before you went to bed, just so he knew he was the last thing on your mind before falling asleep, and that he could watch your muffled, unaware face when you had fallen asleep. as he lived next door, you would always randomly hear the bell ring and see riki standing there, holding a duffle bag and his plushies, waiting for you to let him in and have a sleepover. you never mind him sleeping in the same bed as you, though sometimes he would end up hogging the entire bed diagonally. on days that he can't, he would open up his window, yell your name and once he gets your attention, he would wave at you and talk about anything that came to mind.

"so what do you think you're gonna do when you're eighteen?"

"riki that's in like a hundred years!" you would laugh, but actually take the time to think, "hmm, let's throw a huge party to celebrate our last year before turning eighteen! i'll invite mrs snuggles and mrs piggy, and you should invite mr snuggles and mr piggy! it will be so fun!"

"okay! i promise we'll do that!" he would sticking his pinky out, with you doing the same and returning the promise.

but when his parents announced to yours that they would be moving away, both sides' parents knew it would be absolutely heartbreaking for the both of you to know, especially as in your pre-teens. they didn't know how to explain what moving away and leaving really meant at your young age.

your parents ended up brushing it off, choosing to say that the nishimura family would be back soon.

“come back before your birthday then, riki!”

“of course i will, it’s my tenth birthday!” he exclaimed, putting up all ten fingers on his hand, “the most important one! see you in a few days!”

the day after the news were announced, you ran to riki’s house, only to see all lights off. sighing to yourself, you sat on his front door step, hoping he would jump out, squishing you with his weight.

nothing happened, of course.

everyday, you would count how long there was left until riki’s birthday and he would be back. to the point there were only twelve hours left. and riki’s house was still pitch black.

though you were young and naive, you were still mature enough to give yourself a wake up call, and that maybe he wasn't going to come back in time for his birthday.

perhaps you misunderstood what your parents explained. perhaps soon really meant years.

it began as a one-time tribute, knowing riki wouldn’t be home for his birthday, you went up to his house that had a big 'for sale' sign in front, mocking your misery, and placed the small cupcake you had baked earlier in front of the gate.

"happy birthday riki! don't worry! i know you'll come back next year when you turn 11!"

back then, you still had hope. maybe you were just a simple child, not having much to think about, except that your best friend had left you alone without any goodbyes.

leaves started growing back, cherry blossoms coming along, eventually turning brown and falling off again - it was a continuous yearly cycle, and there was still no sight of riki. it was as if he just vanished completely.

being older also meant a wiser mindset, more schoolwork and access to social media. typing in ‘nishimura riki’ to the search engine of instagram, multiple accounts come up, some of them showing random men, none of them being the riki you wanted to see.

no matter what, everything and everyone reminded you of riki. it didn't matter the year, how long you hadn't seen him for - he was always the first person you thought about.

if someone confessed to you, you would reject them, with riki on your mind. if someone sat down next to you, you would wonder what would happen if he was the one sitting next to you. riki, riki, riki. everything was about him.

occasionally you wondered and doubted yourself, were you two not close enough for him to leave a note, or something similar? you felt betrayed, empty, but you knew ten year old riki was not to blame.

sooner than not, years passed and his seventeenth birthday came. remembering the promise he had promised you quite a few years back, you stifle a sniff, before buying a cake for him.

“happy birthday riki, our last year before becoming an adult," you whisper holding the cake towards the house, blowing out his candles for him, with tears failing to stop falling from your eyes. “mrs snuggles and mrs piggy are still waiting for you…”

you realised, slowly, it had already been 7 years since you last saw him. you missed the smell of him, the happiness he radiated. it hurt, not knowing where he went, not knowing if you would ever see him again, not knowing if he even remembered who you were.

people have always said life is not a fairytale. you agreed. there were hardships, sufferings - but that's just what life is.

a fairytale on the other hand, is described as magical, perfect, happy and exciting.

so how come now, seeing riki at almost eighteen, sit at the same exact table and spot of your childhood home, that he sat at every single year for your birthday make you feel like you’re the one in that fairytale? how come now, you feel nervous, sweaty and tingles in your stomach? something you would feel when you have to present in front of the class?

his shorter, relaxed black hair had now been dyed in light blonde, with gel slicking back his hair. he had grown several centimeters taller than you, contrary to how you used to tease him for being shorter than you. he wore all black, instead of the bright, graphic tees he did before.

something about his aura and him just simply sitting in front of you, made your stomach do flips. all you could do was stare at him, with your mouth opened the slightest bit.

and riki would notice this easily. how could he not after not being able to see the girl of his dreams for years? when you look somewhere else that's not riki, he stares at you, getting lost in your beauty and admiring all of your features - until you turn your attention back towards him, to which he immediately looks down at his fingers, turning slightly red.

growing up, he had always been surrounded by females. having mainly female siblings, cousins and family friends, he knew almost everything about the gender. he knew the things they liked to do, the mood swings they may get, and the way a female may think.

maybe that’s why riki felt so comfortable with you - whenever he saw you, he would feel a sense of home, comfort, and that he could be himself, something he doesn’t normally feel around others.

“so riki! i’m not sure if you remember this house, but this is your childhood best friend, yn’s house! you guys were super close before.” his mom breaks the silence between the two of you.

of course riki remembers. all he remembers from this neighbourhood are the memories of you two, and nothing else - it’s all he ever thinks about.

he quickly glances at you, then continues to dart his eyes around the kitchen and dining room. "yea. i remember." he whispers softly.

"hey riki! that's rude!" 8 year old you pouts and slaps the back of his head while he snickers loudly.

he deliberately sat in that same exact chair he did before, hoping to get a reaction out of you, a slight blush if he could.

“okay now get going.” his mom pulls you two up from the chairs, and ushers you upstairs. “me and yn’s mom have tons of catching up to do.”

stumbling up the stairs together to go back to your room, you don't fail to notice riki's hand squeezing and wrapped around your waist, guiding you along, and the way he somehow remembers exactly where your room is located.

“you’ve matured, a lot.”

he laughs. “well it has been a very long time. if i haven’t, that might be a slight problem.”

laughing along, you sit on your bed and lay down - when you feel the bed dip next to you, you turn to meet riki's face looking at yours just a bit further away, and shoot up.

“oh, sorry. is it okay if i lay down with you?” riki slowly comes up as well, making sure he didn’t make you uncomfortable.

you nod, too afraid your tense voice will give your feelings away. "yea and, happy 18th birthday riki." you smile at him, before laying back down.

you put your hand on your stomach, in attempt to stop the butterflies threatening to erupt and explode out. the cause of it - maybe it was your growing feelings for him, with the close proximity, but the way he feels so close yet still a stranger at the same time, were your only thoughts stopping you from doing anything about them.

at the same time, you feel him scoot closer to you, placing his own hand on yours that was previously clutching your stomach, and caresses it with his thumb. he grins, "thank you yn. you still remember, i appreciate that so much."

"if i didn't remember my crush's birthday, that would hon-" you pause, your brain registering what you had just said, "u-uh."

riki's previously closed eyes were now wide open, staring back at your shocked ones. he blinks furiously, "s-sorry?"

"nothing. i didn't say anything.."

the swallows of your saliva could be heard in the dead silent room, apart from a few birds chirping every so often. knowing you were the cause of this, you try to steer the conversation away to something else, failing after realising there was nothing interesting enough.

"you know," riki decides to break the silence, "i've never felt that many butterflies in my life before."

you pause again, dead in your tracks. had you heard him right? did he just indirectly confess to you?

"and i know, i didn't keep my promise. you don't even know how bad i felt passing my 17th birthday without you. i even tried finding your socials, but maybe you just didn't write your full name in the user, like mine too. do i sound like a creep? oh my god, i sound like a creep." he throws his hands onto his face, covering his eyes and nose.

hearing his joke eases the air a bit, with you chuckling, assuring him he didn't sound like one, and you did in fact try to do the same.

"okay but seriously, i tried to contact you in so many different ways, but i stopped because i thought if you hadn't contacted me either, then maybe the feelings were one-sided."

he started to sit up, leaning against your bed headboard, before pulling you along and letting you rest on his chest and in between his legs, and stroking the side of your arm.

"to be honest, i've actually asked my mom to let me come back here. she immediately agreed and booked the flight, but we had to keep cancelling because of the snow weather. i guess me arriving on my birthday is the perfect time. i want to tell you that i'm sorry i left you with so many what if's, why's and maybe's. i wish i could go back in time and let you know, or even try not to move away. but i'm just happy i can be here with you today, on my birthday, in the house and city we grew up in." he looks down at you, hoping you hadn't fallen asleep, instead to find you with glistening eyes, looking back up at him.

"please tell me you're saying that because you like me, else i don't know what love is anymore."

"of course i do, dummy." he giggles, flicking your forehead.

"riki, i like you too."

he lightly pushes you off him, walking to his backpack laying against your bedroom door, and pulls out a few things, "okay thank goodness. mr snuggles and mr piggy had been waiting for their wifes since 2015. they better reunite soon."

riki still had these plushies? did he know he was coming back for him to take it along with him?

"aw riki.." you coo, opening your blanket to reveal the twos' wifes. "i've actually always kept them with me right here, so i could always be reminded of you." you hold them, staring at riki, as he had an unreadable face expression.

"you still have them on your bed too? ugh you're so cute." you see his expression melt into a cute smile, and his eyes becoming crescents.

only now had you realised how much riki had really changed. of course the appearance, with his newly dyed hair and style, the way he dressed, the small earring he had in one ear, and his chisled jawline. you realised just how much he had grown up from when you last saw him - the way he carefully chooses the right words to say, the way he changes the tone of his voice to suit the right conversation, compared to before where no matter what, he would always be a teaser, and use playful tones to speak.

"what are you thinking about, hm pretty girl?" he hums, lightly grabbing the sides of your head.

"just what you-" you feel a pair of soft lips land on yours, followed by a cheeky laugh, and his forehead resting on yours, all while your brain tries to understand the events that had just happened.

"h-hey! that was my first kiss!" you exclaim, blushing in the process.

he shrugs, "no it wasn't, we kissed before when we were like six." clearly not impressed that you thought he had only just taken your first kiss.

“psh whatever nishimura, just do that again please…” you mumble, to which riki would pull you closer, locking your lips together again, as his hands linger around your cheeks.

"i told you they would eventually get together. it was just a matter of when." both yours and riki's mom stand at the crack of the door, smiling to each other at the fact that they can finally see the long awaited happiness on both their children’s face.

alright so I'd which enha member this will go well with but y/n being a sow eater and their friend finished their meals. while the friends wait, somebody them go do some shopping or so before meeting back at the cafeteria. but he stays behind to wait for y/n to eat

JAY i think jay would be the member to stay the longest/mesh well with a s/o who eats slow. he’s a member that enjoys watching people eat good food (especially if he cooked it) and would probably watch their s/o eat fondly until they finish.

SUNGHOON, HEESEUNG definitely ones who stay behind with you the whole time it’s more out of endearment towards you whereas jay genuinely enjoys watching you eat.

JUNGWON, SUNOO, JAKE would be the type to stay and probably be on their phone, doing their business or holding a one sided conversation so you can eat whilst they talk.

the managers gave him a curfew

a/n. don’t quote me on this but i think y’all are gonna love this one <3

“riki!” you squealed breathlessly, kicking your feet relentlessly, helplessly. “nishimura—”

he chuckled down at you from where he hovered over your body that was sprawled, squirming on the couch as his fingers tickled every inch of your skin.

“i can’t breathe!” you screamed out, making your best attempts to swat his villainous hands away.

in doing so however, your hands eventually naturally found themselves intertwining with riki’s, a moment filled with fun and chaos switched off like a light bulb and on to a time of intimacy and quietness as your laughter subsided.

your eyes stared gently into his own which mirrored the look in yours, and he could have sworn he just fell in love with you all over again. from the way your hair was a dishevelled mess caused by the endless tosses and turns, to the way your expression softened once he took a moment to appreciate your presence—he loved every bit of it—everything about you.

“riki,” you breathed out, eyes diverted to his lips, “kiss me.”

it took a few seconds for the words to click in his head, but once they did, his features earned a cheekiness to them, and he found himself swooping down and capturing your lips with his own.

the kiss was long, slow and intimate, never changing in pace. his lips were soft against yours, moving together in sync.

his hands made their way to hold the sides and back of your head, as yours snaked up to his shoulders, pulling him impossibly closer.

eventually, he pulled back, almost making you frown at the loss of contact, but immediately his lips were back on your skin, leaving tiny pecks along your jaw and cheeks before whispering tenderly a rare and precious, “i love you.”
