So. Staying sick at home I finally got some time to start on one of my non-Warhammer projects.
This time I’m kitbashing a WWII destroyer from 2 of her sister ships.
The plan is to install lights inside the hull and superstructure as a test run before I start on any bigger ship build.
I’ve drilled over 150 portholes in the hull and glued the propellers and everything else that goes directly on the hull.
You can also see that I dry-fit the front deck.
I’d say that the hull is basically ready. All that’s left is to clean it up (you can see some drilling residue around portholes and glue marks near the propellers - I’ll sand those).
With this done I’ll dry-fit the entire deck, cover it with tape and spraypaint the hull with primer.
After that comes painting which I need to do now - before I fill the portholes with optic fiber.
Preferable the next update will show the hull with lights in. Even if they’re not installed for good yet. One thing I’m not sure is if I should go with cold or warm light. I’m kinda suspecting that they wouldn’t be using cold white lights during WWII. Maybe outside of searchlights. Still. I’ll likely need to inquire at some museum or association.
