Bad Luck: A Tiny Lloyd Centric Oneshot
Happy Holidays to all who celebrate! I got the privilege of writing for the @ninjago-calendar again! I was assigned the month of March, and the theme for that month was Clover.
Summary: Lloyd's training goes awry when he is plagued with internal voices of doubt and something even more sinister. . .
(5,073 words)
AO3 version HERE
Lloyd was training in the Dojo. His eyes were closed, and he was concentrating on sending his powers out to gather around him and hit a training dummy. He could sense the others around him watching, waiting to see what he’d do. He looked within himself like Wu told him and tried to call out to the power inside him. There was something, but it was still small.
“Come on,” he whispered, coaxing the energy to emerge through his body. He had been making so much progress before, he had even gotten the lightbulb to glow without breaking! So why was today so hard?
You know why, a tiny voice whispered in his mind. Lloyd ignored it.
“Concentrate, Lloyd,” Zane encouraged, “You can do this!”
No you can’t.
“Shut up,” Lloyd muttered to the voice.
“Hey!” Cole scolded,” that’s no way to talk to Zane! He was just trying to hype you up!”
Lloyd grimaced, trying desperately to capture the flicker inside again. The people talking were not helping his concentration, and now there was this misunderstanding. “I wasn’t—”
“It’s alright, Cole, Lloyd is under a lot of stress at the moment.” Zane assured.
Cole huffed, “Well he shouldn’t take it out on you.”
“Yeah, he should’ve taken it out on Jay!” Kai added in.
“Tch, rude,” Jay retorted.
Lloyd could feel sweat running down his forehead as he tried not to focus on the noise. All he’d said was shut up, and even if he had meant it at them, it wasn’t that big a deal. He heard them say it to each other all the time! It was probably one of those ‘only older kids can say that’ kind of nonsense. Lloyd smirked, they should’ve heard the kids at Darkley’s; they said stuff on the daily that would make Uncle Wu’s beard curl. . . wait a minute, what was he doing? Oh yeah, he was supposed to be training!
Lloyd reached again, felt a flicker of his power, but then a sudden crashing noise startled him, and it faded. Frustrated, he opened his eyes to see that Kai and Jay were in the midst of a tussle and had just knocked over Dareth’s trophies (again).
Lloyd didn’t know why but the noise combined with his failure made him angry.
“Why can’t you guys just leave me alone? I was so close to getting it that time, but you guys distracted me!”
The others looked uncomfortable.
Kai shifted to be sitting on Jay, who squawked in protest. “Relax, Lloyd, we were just screwing around, we’re not actually mad at each other.”
Lloyd couldn’t believe his ears. “Calm down? Calm DOWN? My dad is still out there causing trouble!” He turned to look out the window. “And since it’s apparently MY job to fix it, every person he hurts till then is my fault because I haven’t trained enough! And you aren’t helping at all! Aren’t you guys supposed to be training me?”
“Um, Lloyd?” Jay said nervously.
“NO!” Lloyd interrupted, heat flooding him. “I’m sick of not getting better. I was doing so good! You guys are so powerful so when is it my turn? I just want to be USEFUL!”
“LLOYD STOP PLEASE!”
Lloyd turned back around to see everyone suspended in midair, with green energy keeping them from moving. They all looked at him, terrified.
“Woah—oh no!” Lloyd cried. He waved his hands around, trying to make it stop, but it accidentally slammed them into the wall.”
“Yowch! Hey, watch it, Lloyd!” Cole called out.
“Whatever we did, we’re sorry!” Jay screamed, “Just put us down!”
“I’m trying!” Lloyd said, panicked, and still flailing his arms, “I don’t know how!”
“Your powers seem to be agitated due to your frustration with us,” Zane said, “Perhaps thinking of something more pleasant—”
“Think about candy, Lloyd!” Cole shouted.
Kai glared at him, “Candy? Seriously?”
“What? He likes candy! And I’m feeling stressed which makes me hungry!”
“What is the meaning of this??” an old voice asked sharply.
Startled, Lloyd’s attention shifted, and his powers stopped. The four ninja fell to the ground with painful thuds.
“Ouch, Jay get your blue butt off of me!”
“Ha! Payback for earlier, Fire Boi!”
“Enough!” Wu sounded stern as he looked over them all. His gaze met Lloyd’s who looked away in shame. “Lloyd, would you care to explain to me why you were attacking your brothers with your newfound abilities?”
“I—um—” Lloyd could feel his ears flushing bright red as he looked down at the carpet. “I got angry, Sensei. I lost control and—but It wasn’t my fault! The guys were being really annoying and distracted me from my training!”
“Maybe so, but anger is not an excuse for reckless violence. You must rise above those emotions in order to truly reach your potential as a protector of Ninjago.” The others nodded sagely behind Wu, and Lloyd resisted the urge to stick his tongue out at them.
“But Sensei, I couldn’t help it! It’s not like I was trying to hurt them, it just—happened.”
Lloyd was only half listening as Wu told him to apologize, as an ugly feeling started growing inside Lloyd’s chest. Why hadn’t he been able to stop himself?
Because you’re Garmadon’s son, hurting others is in your nature. . . in your blood!
“NO!” Lloyd started to run out of the room, but Cole stopped him with one arm.
“Dude, come on, just apologize! You can’t deny that you banged us around. It really hurt!”
“Yeah!” Jay chimed in, “I’m pretty sure my bruises have bruises!”
“Even I feel slightly dented in places,” Zane added.
See? You hurt those you care most about. How can you save the world from your father when you can’t even save your friends from yourself?
Lloyd struggled against Cole’s strong arm. He had to get away. He had to hide from that voice.
“Lloyd, what’s gotten into you?” Wu asked reproachfully.
Something that has been here the whole time!
“Stop it!” Lloyd bit Cole without thinking and raced off down the hall and out of the dojo. He ran through the crowded city, bumping into people, and disregarding road traffic in his rush to escape. Eventually, though, he ran out of breath and had to stop. Luckily there was an old bridge to his left that he was able to go hide under. He sat on a small ledge and tried to calm his breathing.
“This is all so stupid!” He muttered.
A bubbling noise distracted him from his thoughts. Out of the water in front of him rose a red something with glowing slit-pupiled eyes. It hissed at Lloyd and his blood ran cold.
A serpentine!
“Are you lost, little boy?” it said in a rattly voice. Water dripped off its scales as it loomed closer to Lloyd. And it wasn’t alone.
There were three of them from what Lloyd could see; all fangpyres. Two stared down at him, fangs exposed in horribly pleased grins, while a third snuck up behind him and pinned his arms behind his back. Lloyd struggled against the snake person’s hold, but their grip was too tight.
“Hey, let go of me!” He cried out. “I’m the son of Lord Garmadon and he’ll be super angry if you snakes hurt me!”
“Oh we know who you are,” one of them chuckled, “How fortunate that we happened to be passing by! Our master is sure to be pleased!”
Lloyd continued to struggle. “If you boneheads don’t release me, I’ll be forced to use my green ninja powers on your scaley butts!” Lloyd didn’t even know if snakes had butts, but he didn’t really have time to care about accuracy.
The two snakes looked doubtful, and slightly afraid, but the one holding him tightened its grip.
“He’s bluffing, you idiots!” It snarled, “Last I heard he couldn’t even power a lightbulb!”
“I can too!” Lloyd shot back with indignance. “Anyways the ninja will be out looking for me so they’ll be able to kick whatever’s left when I’m through with y—” A dirty cloth was stuffed in Lloyd’s mouth, cutting him off.
Alright, how had he used his powers before? He’d been pissed at the other ninja and it had triggered something. Luckily, he was pretty pissed off right now too. He’d just wanted some alone time and now he was getting kidnapped by people he’d literally helped free from imprisonment? It wasn’t fair! Lloyd felt the spark flare back up in his chest.
Yes! He cheered himself on.
Indeed, feel the anger! Feed it! Let it consume you and spill out in glorious carnage!
Wait, what? Lloyd shook his head at the dark urge that had overtaken his thoughts, feeling disturbed. He tried to concentrate again but the spark was gone.
Lloyd let out a frustrated, defeated groan as he was led through deserted alleyways and onto a green bus by the trio of Serpentine.
* * *
“Your Eminence, I have brought you a gift!” The serpentine told the figure facing the opposite way. He had his mega weapon in two of his hands and was speaking with the Serpentine generals, who all glared at the new arrivals for interrupting.
“If it’s not a McRonald’s Shamrock shake or a solid plan to defeat the ninja, I don’t want it.” Garmadon growled without turning.
Lloyd had spent the whole bus ride working the gag out of his mouth and finally was able to spit it out. “Daaaaad, make him let me go!” he demanded.
With a start, Garmadon whipped around. “Lloyd? Why is my son here?” He addressed his minion.
“I figured he could be useful to you, sire.”
“Fool!” Garmadon shouted, “Don’t you know that a premature interaction with him could start our final battle before its time?”
The serpentine hid behind Lloyd. “I—I wasn’t aware of that, no.”
“Obviously not!” Garmadon replied. “Take him back right now, and if you even think about hurting him, you will never see the light of the sun again when I’m through with you!”
Lloyd grinned at the snake, who looked terrified out of his mind now.
“Garmadon, If I may, might I suggest we keep the boy for now?” Skales suggested, “We could use him as bait to trap the ninja.”
Garmadon pondered Skales’s words for a minute, then looked Lloyd in the eyes. Lloyd saw his father’s red eyes soften slightly, then go hard again.
“Very well, but you will treat him with respect or there will be dire consequences. Are we clear?” He glared at the serpentine who had brought Lloyd.
Shivering in fear, the snake answered, “Yes, my lord.” He started to lead Lloyd away, but Lloyd realized, This could be my chance to convince him to be good!
“Wait, stop! I don’t wanna go! Let me stay here with you!” He cried out,
Garmadon sighed, “Lloyd, didn’t I just say that we shouldn’t see each other lest the final battle start too early before I—you are ready?”
Lloyd paused, “Well, I’m already here. . . and I don’t really feel like fighting you today, and I know you don’t wanna fight me, so let’s just have a truce for now. Deal?”
After a moment, Garmadon responded, “Alright.” He then turned to his serpentine companions, “Leave us.”
Skales made a sound of annoyance but left anyways, along with the other generals. He gave Lloyd a contemptful look as he passed him. Lloyd stuck his tongue out at him.
And then there were two. Lloyd didn’t say anything at first, he just studied his father’s face. Garmadon’s red eyes avoided his, instead lowered to look at the giant golden megaweapon. His expression was unreadable besides that.
Eventually the silence was broken by Garmadon.
“So, I assume you’re still training with my brother.”
“Yeah, it’s um. . . “Lloyd pushed away the memory of how that day’s session had ended, “. . .it’s going pretty great!
“Hmm.” Garmadon mused, “Well it will not matter in the end, because you can’t defeat me. You are not strong enough.”
Lloyd bristled, “What’s that s’posed to mean? I’m plenty strong enough! Well, maybe not right now, but I’m gonna be the most powerful ninja real soon, and then I can finally stop you from your evildoings forever!”
The corners of Garmadon’s mouth twitched slightly upward in amusement. “You won’t be able to finish me. You’re too soft—too good. It weakens you.”
Ha, good? You? What a joke!
Lloyd frowned at the words of his mind and his father.
With a sigh, Garmadon continued, “If I’m being honest, I would not wish anything more for you—being good I mean. It’s what I was never able to have. I was always burdened with the knowledge that in the end, no matter how hard I tried, the evil in my blood would prevail in the end.
“You fought it till the end though, right?” Lloyd asked, wide eyed.
Garmadon huffed, “Oh I fought all right. But it would slip into my daily life in places I was blind to, and eventually, it was too strong. Evil overcame good that day, just like it will again when the Final Battle concludes.
“But what if you tried fighting the evil again?” Lloyd insisted.
“It’s too late for me.” Garmadon responded with a sad smile. He ruffled Lloyd’s hair and turned away. “Now I must be alone. Guards!”
The doors opened once again and a hypnobrai and constrictai hustled in.
“Yes, my lord?” they said in unison.
“Take my son to one of your more comfortable homes and keep him there until the ninja arrive for him. Don’t let him leave but give him plenty of food and water if he wishes for it.” Garmadon looked at Lloyd, “I wish things could be different, son, but destiny cannot be changed.”
Lloyd tried to bite the constrictai that grabbed his left arm, but the scales were too thick, and the two serpentine half guided half dragged him out of the room.
“Dad, wait, no! Please let me stay!” Lloyd cried after him, but his father did not look back at him as he was taken away.
* * *
Garmadon stared at the megaweapon. “What am I going to do with him? I can’t fight him, he’s just a small boy! If only he wasn’t so pressured into his destiny by Wu and his pathetic ninja! I wish I knew a way to lead him astray, lose his way from me! If we never saw each other again, then the ultimate battle would just not happen!” The megaweapon glowed suddenly and Garmadon realized too late that it had heard his wish. He doubled over in pain as the weapon tore his energy from his body. Suddenly, loud cracking sounds and screams could be heard from outside.
Oh no.
Garmadon rushed outside. A few yards away, he saw a mess of plants that hadn’t been there before. They were twisting and growing, and in the midst of them he saw. . .
“Lloyd, no!” Garmadon screamed and rushed after his son, who cried out for him before being swallowed by the growth. The plants continued to grow and spread until suddenly they stopped, and the sand settled to reveal a large portion of the desert had been covered in trees.
“Son! Are you alright?” Garmadon called out, but there was no answer.
A voice from behind startled him, “Brother, what have you done?”
* * *
Lloyd had no idea where he was. One minute he was being taken away from his father, and then the next, he was surrounded by giant plants. A mixture of twisty dead trees and living trees covered in thorny vines were all around him as far as he could see. Lloyd’s arms stung from where some of the vine’s thorns had scratched him during their growth. Amidst the trees and vines were all kinds of clover as well. There was normal sized clover covering the ground where there had been sand moments before, and giant mega clover with leaves that loomed over Lloyd’s head, making him feel small. He reached out to touch one of the giant shamrock leaves, and was startled when his hand left a glowy green mark on it.
“Dad?” He called out amongst the foliage, “Dad where’d you go? What happened? Where am I? What did you do?” There was no answer. The forest was deathly silent. Anxiety started to grow inside of Lloyd.
“O-kay, this is is. . . this is fine.” He told himself. “I just gotta find my way out. I mean, how hard could it be, it’s just a bunch of plants! Clovers are green, and I’m the green ninja, so maybe if I follow them I’ll find my way out of here!” Lloyd took a deep breath. “I am going to be okay.”
Just then there was a crack of branches behind him. Startled by the sudden noise, Lloyd screamed and bolted off into the forest. Foliage stung his face as he tore through the plant life. After he’d gotten a ways away, Lloyd stopped to catch his breath. From what he could see, there was nothing following him. Lloyd was relieved that the others weren’t there to see what had just happened.
“I gotta get ahold of myself!” he resolved. “No more scaredy Lloyd. I’m a ninja for First Master’s sake! I’m not afraid of a little noise! I’m not afraid of anything!”
How adorable.
“Ah, who’s there?” Lloyd jumped into a fighting stance.
A chorus of sinister whispers that he couldn’t understand crept into his head, and shadows began to move around him in unnatural ways. Lloyd stood still in confusion and rising fear as the shadows gathered together and formed a single entity. It’s aura was unfriendly and Lloyd stumbled backwards. The shadow stared at him with two glowing, menacing eyes, and said only one thing.
Join me.
Lloyd did not join it. He ran away.
* * *
“What do you mean you trapped him in that giant forest??” Kai asked, with fury, “He’s your own son, why would you do that?”
Cole snorted, “Um, cause he’s evil? When are you going to stop being surprised by this guy?”
“I may be evil, but I never wanted any harm to come to Lloyd! I swear it!” Garmadon explained in earnest. “I wasn’t even trying to use the megaweapon that time!”
Jay hummed a doubtful note.
Wu put his hand on Garmadon’s shoulder, “Whatever was intended is no longer important, as long as we move forward with the intent to rectify our mistakes. Come, we must retrieve my nephew!” He motioned for his students to follow him. They entered the only gap in the twisted wall of trees. Garmadon tried to follow, but the trees closed behind the others and would not let him pass through.
The ninja were startled by the noise of the trees closing, and Kai started banging on the trunks.
“Garmadon, what the heck? Open it back up!”
“I—I didn’t do that!” Garmadon’s voice was muffled. “It must not want me to get near Lloyd since I wished for him to lose his way from me.”
“Ha-ha, that’s just great!” Jay exclaimed, “We’re stuck here in an evil plant maze filled with unknown horrors, and the bad guy who made it doesn’t even know how to open it back up! We are so screwed guys!”
Zane patted Jay on the back in sympathy.
Cole turned to face the path ahead. “Well, whatever is in there we’ll face it together. Come on guys, we’re getting our problem child back!”
* * *
Said problem child was extremely lost. It was getting dark and Lloyd didn’t know how long he’d been there. Had it been an hour? Several hours? Days? All Lloyd knew was that he was hungry, and he had to outrun the voices in his head and the shadow that pursued him. Although he was starting to think they were the same thing. There seemed to be no end to the maze.
“I don’t want to do this anymore!” He shouted.
You do not have to, there is an easier way. Surrender to the darkness within! Join your father and you can reshape the world together!
Lloyd stiffened; the shadow was back! It perched atop one of the giant clovers, nothing but darkness and thoe red eyes that leered at him from above.
Enough running, Lloyd. You cannot escape your destiny. You cannot run. . . from who you are! The shadow moved in towards Lloyd, who was frozen in terror as the thing approached. It began to take a more solid form and Lloyd was horrified to be faced with a darker, shadowy version of himself. This version of him had glowing red eyes, just like his father’s, and two pointed horns poking out of his skull.
“No! You are not me! You’re just a shadow!” Lloyd screamed and tried to run again.
He hadn’t gone far before he felt something cold grab onto his ankle and yank him backward and up. He was suspended by tendrils of darkness, and the source, this “anti-Lloyd”, brought him to its eye level and bared its wicked fangs at him.
I am your future, Lloyd! The shadow hissed in his face. Its breath was icy and Lloyd shivered. Whether you win or lose against Garmadon doesn’t matter. His blood is your blood, and therefore the evil that flows through it is also yours! I am in your blood!
The tendrils enveloped Lloyd, restraining him in a dark cocoon. Lloyd couldn’t see anything or hear anything except blood rushing to his head. He felt like he was being stuffed with freezing cotton.
And then
He was back on his feet, in the forest, with the shadow nowhere in sight. Instead, a taller individual stood in its place. The air was pleasantly warm, and stars twinkled through the canopy above them both. Lloyd stared up at the person in front of him and was hit with the sense of looking in a funhouse mirror. Much taller than he was, even fluffier blond hair ruffled by the slight breeze, a green ninja gi that didn’t have the sleeves rolled up so it could be worn by a kid, bright green eyes that patiently stared into his own. . . Lloyd couldn’t believe it.
“Hey, there, Lloyd!” the person greeted with a smile.
“Who are you?” Lloyd asked, though he figured he knew the answer.
“I’m you! Well, who you will be soon I mean.” This older version of Lloyd’s voice was deeper than his own, but still had a youthful ring to it.
Lloyd gasped, “Are you from the future?”
“I’m. . . from a possible future. A future where you keep your resolve to always do good and stand up to evil.”
“That’s awesome!!” Relief flooded Lloyd for a second, then was replaced by the reminder of what he had seen a few minutes ago. “But um,” He lowered his eyes and shifted in discomfort.
“Yes?”
Lloyd took a breath, “What about that thing out there? The shadow? It said I’m destined to give in to the evil that’s inside me. Wh—what if you’re wrong and it’s right?” Lloyd’s throat felt tight. “What if I. . . what if I’m not strong enough? I don’t wanna let everyone down but I’m so stressed ab—about fai—ling them—m!” Hot tears streamed down Lloyd’s cheeks and he tried to wipe them away but they just kept coming.
He then felt himself being wrapped in an embrace that felt so different from the shadow’s. Instead of being cold and suffocating, this one was warm and safe. Lloyd sobbed into his older self’s shoulder for a while. Older Lloyd held him close until he had calmed down slightly.
“I’m so sorry Lloyd.”
Confused, Lloyd looked up at his older self. “Why are you sorry? I’m the one who’s a weak—”
“You are not weak!” His counterpart interrupted, “You are so very strong, but you’re also just a kid, and I—we should never have had to deal with all this responsibility. It wasn’t fair.” Older Lloyd’s eyes were sad. “We deserved better.”
“How did you do it?” Lloyd tried scrubbing the wet off his cheeks.
Older Lloyd’s smile returned, “I realized I couldn’t do it alone. . . that I didn’t have to be the only protector. Our friends were there to help! And they will always be there for us.” He picked one of the clovers from the ground and spun it around between his fingers until it transformed into a small green ball of energy.
“What if I hurt my friends?”
“They’ll always be there,“ Older Lloyd repeated, “Even at your worst, or when it feels like they’re gone for good, they’re still here.” He put his now glowing hand over Lloyd’s heart.
Warmth erupted in Lloyd’s chest at the touch, and there was green energy sparking out of his hands. The blanket of doubt that had been smothering him had lifted, and he felt like he could take out a hundred training dummies. Lloyd looked up once again in awe of his future self.
“How—?”
His future self only winked at him. “You got this, buddy. I’m proud of you!”
That last sentence echoed in Lloyd’s mind as he was yoinked back to reality. He was still in the cocoon, but his new energy boost served as protection from the smothering cold. His green glow lit up the small space.
“Okay, let’s try this again,” he said, “Concentrate!” The energy that flowed through him was like nothing he had ever felt before, and it felt good. The light burst through the shadowy prison, breaking it apart and freeing him. Lloyd dropped to the ground and fell with a soft thud in the carpet of clover, which were now all lit up with the green glow from before.
What? The shadow form shrieked, How?? You should be infused with darkness by now!
“Here’s the thing,” Lloyd said as he stood up to face his shadow demon, “You keep saying that it’s my destiny to become evil, but it’s not even your choice is it? It’s mine!”
Anti-Lloyd’s red eyes narrowed, What?
Lloyd’s eyes flashed bright green as he readied his attack, “Well I choose good! Not evil! Never evil! I will always oppose darkness!”
The shadow let out a pained shriek and lunged for Lloyd.
Lloyd steadied himself as it got closer, “You are not my future!” He shouted and blasted the demon with every ounce of power he had. The thing vaporized instantly, without any time to even cry out in rage at its loss.
The forest was quiet once again. Little glowing specks floated through the air in wake of the exorcism. Lloyd reached out and tried to catch one but when he opened his hands it was gone. The glow from the clover around him was also starting to fade. Lloyd picked one of the small ones and twirled it between his fingers, like his future self had done. “Thank you.” He whispered. Suddenly the clover turned to sand in his palm, and trickled off his hand to the ground. Lloyd blinked, confused.
There was a sudden rumble of the earth that landed Lloyd on his butt. Then he was rising through the plants—no wait, they were sinking back into the ground! As more and more of the plants descended, Lloyd saw the ninja and his uncle a bit away from him. They appeared to be tangled in some vines, but the vines turned into sand and they fell to the ground as he had done. The sand settled slightly, and all was still again.
Lloyd got up, hastily. “Hey, guys! Uncle Wu! Over here!” He ran towards him, nearly tripping on sand a few times.
“Lloyd! You’re okay!” Kai shouted, and ran to pick him up and twirl him around.
Lloyd giggled as he was spun. “Yeah I’m okay.”
Wu came over and looked him in the eye. “Are you hurt, Lloyd? Was the forest unkind to you?”
“I’ve got a few scratches but that’s it.” Lloyd answered. “Ooh, but I also got to fight an evil shadowy demon version of myself that tried to drown me in this weird cloud, but then this awesome super cool other me showed up from the future and gave me a magic clover that got inside me somehow, and helped me kick that shadow demon’s butt! It was so cool!”
The others were quiet for a second, then Jay said, “That. . . sounds like it was a whole lot of heavy stuff.”
“Yeah, are you sure you’re okay, Bud?” Cole added.
Lloyd recalled the shadow’s cold grip and shivered, but then remembered that he was safe, in Kai’s warm arms, and smiled at everyone. “Yep! I’m pretty hungry though. Can we stop at McRonald’s?”
Everyone laughed in relief.
“Yes, Lloyd.” Wu responded, taking his nephew’s small hands in his old, wrinkled ones.
“I’m buying.” Garmadon said from behind.
Everyone jumped and turned to see Garmadon standing sheepishly. He looked at Lloyd. “Lloyd, I am so sorry, I never meant for you to be trapped and treated in such a way. I wasn’t thinking clearly when I made the wish to keep you from me.”
Lloyd figured he should be furious with his father, but he looked so pitifully sad. Besides, there’d be time later for negative emotions. Right now, all Lloyd wanted was a six-piece nugget kid’s meal with a Fritz Donnegan toy. And maybe a shamrock shake.
“It’s okay, Dad, I forgive you this time. But don’t do it again. Also can I get nuggets?”
Garmadon smiled, “Of course you can.”
“Yeah, free food!” Cole and Jay shouted.
“I’m not getting you anything you fruity idiots!” Garmadon snapped at them. “This is me making up for nearly getting my son killed before our destinies decide our true fate.”
“It was worth a shot,” Cole commented. “Don’t pull anything funny on the kid though, we’ll be watching you, Garmadon.”
“Whatever. Come on, Lloyd.”
Everyone headed back towards the city of Ouroboros.
“Hey, Dad, I defeated a shadow demon today!” Lloyd said in excitement.
“Oh, did you?” Garmadon responded, intrigued.
“Yeah, I told it I’m never gonna give up my resolve to do good. And the same goes for us. I’m gonna give it my all when we battle. But. . . I hope that doesn’t happen for a long time.”
Garmadon tousled Lloyd’s mop of blond hair. “Me too, son, me too.”

This year we will be changing a few things up--having a shorter schedule timeline and having better announcements/notifications.
Also please note: we will be more strict about deadlines this year so please make sure you are ready to commit and communicate with us!
Read on for more info about these changes or come on over and sign up here!
1. A shorter timeline schedule
To avoid the finals cram season as much as possible, this year we are moving the schedule up so that the final deadline will be December 1.
This will allow time for final preparations and emergencies--and maybe even let us release the calendar earlier!
You can check out the updated schedule here.
2. Better Announcements/Reminders
We know not everyone uses Discord often. So to help keep everyone in the loop about deadlines and changes, we will be posting announcements and reminders here on this blog as well as sending out emails.
For Tumblr notifications, we will tag you in the post, and for email, we will be sending out notification emails through our email: [email protected]
Participating in these type of notifications will be optional. After you get in, we will send out another form that you may choose to fill out if you would like to be notified via these methods.
As always, for more information, please check out our pinned post or drop by our ask box!
