#no diss to the creators though they're doing their part it's just audience reactions

the problem with watching new stuff is seeing reactions like "oh this is so creepy, this is so gory, etc" and thinking this is what they get for not watching hannibal (2013)

Love your analysis but I think it gives the writing team for credits that it should, they're that innovative and rather predictable as seen by suzue's identity revelation. All the hype for the mosr obvious answer. I really don't think the writing team is that smart, they probably changed suzue into a relative for the $$$ and fujobait. It's sad a good character lost her surname and love.
I initially thought the same thing re; money and fujobait but then I realised *how* it was set up and targeted. FKBU is a noitamina genre, which means it must appeal to a wide range of audience and not just fujos/fudan. Clearly it got a lot of non-BL fans into the show (and also novel readers as well) so they would be doing a large portion of the audience a disservice by having the money and fujobait mindset.
In saying that, a part of them probably have that mindset in play, especially on the promotional materials team. It is literally Daiharu left right and centre, which just makes a lot of us non-daiharu shippers cringe. Because clearly we want to see more than just Daiharu, we want to see Suzue and, Hoshino etc etc - Daisuke and Haru, though they are the main characters, are not the only important characters in the show. But I feel like the promotions team is targeting towards fans of the here and now, and what I mean by that is - they monitor fan reactions to the episodes on social media and if they see that a large chunk of them are daiharu shippers, they will naturally be inclined to utilise promos of just Daisuke and Haru to target them.
That being said, promo materials may not be directly related to the contents of the actual anime storyline. The storyline has been written several years ago and changing it last minute would be very costly. So in order to beef up their viewership and retain fans, they need to appease to them without compromising on the storyline. So I am guessing that’s where the daiharu promos come into play.
But yes, if the anime creators truly did strip Suzue of her surname and love, I’d be pretty pissed off and that’s because Suzue herself in the novel is just absolutely gorgeous as a potential partner for Daisuke. I mean, why the fuck put her in the show in the first place if they are going to compromise her that bad?
As I said in some other posts, I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and continue my speculations. I do hope they are hiding something and they are not just going to diss Suzue’s character like that. FKBU may have a lot of fujo fans but it also has a large portion of non-fujo fans as well, and bloody hell if we wanted a BL story, we would go look for one! There’s a whole damn genre dedicated to it!
