when someone suggests a home remedy for skincare like using lemons to lighten hyperpigmentation for example…. We have affordable products these days that will do that more effectively, that wouldn’t be a pure waste of time bestie……

but if you love wasting food and time for no reason then sure. use lemons.

#in my friend’s defense she’s almost 30 so i understand that her/our generation grew up during the ill informed health crazes of the 90’s/00s #every womens/teen/tween magazine and various Tv shows like ANTM for example suggested making DIY skincare with food #it was everywhere and it was something everyone tried at least once #along with putting lemons in your hair in the summertime #that kind of thing was just like hella common and normal #as i’m sure you all remember idk why i’m mansplaining in the tags rn #it’s wild to me that my friend is still on that page though #no one gave her the memo yet that DIY skincare isn’t it #i don’t blame her i guess cuz even at cosmetology school we had multiple days in which we discussed DIY skincare & we even were required to #*required to make 3 DIY skincare products as a homework assignment #so the curriculum is still hella outdated #also our presalon teacher is still living in the 80’s no offense lol but she’s not advanced her skill beyond what she learned in the 80’s #aaaaanywhoooo lol #my friend is only like 2ish years older than me but i swear sometimes it’s like i’m talking to someone from a completely different age group #but she didn’t grow up online and she also grew up mormon in canada so i have to take that into account lmao #us having two completely different upbringings is what makes me someone who’s more privy to pick up on current trends #whereas her upbringing has caused her to be more on the page of the adults she grew up around rather than the kids these days and ppl online #the way i just went on a whole entire tangent because my friend selena told my other friend jill to put lemon on her skin yesterday lmfao #execute me
