a lot of ppl think this is an rp blog, but it's not. i actually DO rp SOMETIMES, but i dont do it here. HOWEVER, ive been told by many different people that i have a VERY similar personality to marie, complete with sass and music knowledge, so make of that what you will

so its like yk a pidgin is created by enslaved peoples in haiti formed from french, taíno languages, and the african (mostly bantu) languages carried over however, while the phonotactic patterns of the language was mostly influenced by languages of enslaved peoples, the language primarily lexified words of french origin (bc of french's elevation given the circumstances)

and when a pidgin takes those words it usually does so through the most common use of that word and also there alot about pidgins and how they *allegedly* well all of this is allegedly jujyjutf basically it could reveal a universal language (not conspiracy) as in the universal basic structure or well ugh it's like a universal set of ways humans will create language, the grammar aspect I mean, a bit like the consept of IPA (international phonetic alphabet) but for grammar teehee in the sense the IPA creates all the possible sounds a human can make, aka a set of universal ways humans can verbalize language

sorry that was a sidenote but basically I wanted to give context to the lexification process so basically in this case the process reflects phonetic units of language, so it's like basically enslaved people speaking their interpretation of the french language, how it sounds

and further, the most common phonetic instance of that word/idea (bc it's their interpretation) in the language (their interpretation thereof) so like friend, or in french, ami, in creole is zanmi... as in les amis, the plural of ami, or rather 'the' friends as it takes that liaison in les amis (lez'ami) and it's such a specific circumstance for that word or idea, les amis, there's las amis, l'ami and the fact les amis was the circumstance common enough to be the basis for lexification is interesting and might reflect socio-linguistic circumstances existent in the process of a pidgin forming

so now why do many, many verb forms in kreyòl come from a circumstance indicative of heavy use of the formal 'vous' or plural you (person) form... well bc it was the most common and most universally heard form of that word so vle being vle is wierd bc if it came from veux as in je veux (I want, in first person) it's wrong... as in... it breaks the pattern of its lexification's phonetic circumstance... bc the 'eu' in veux sound would always be 'e' or 'i' bc for exactly that 'vu', saw or seen, exists as a cognate in the form of 've' the u, the same sound as eu, becomes an 'e', so if vle were to have come from veux it breaks the pattern which newly fresh formed pidgins wouldn't bc their whole thing is trying to the simplest easiest (to say, and properly function to communicate to a foreign people) then it would mean vle has to have come from another form of the word from that language, probably 'voulez' the plural form, which is used to indicate respect or appropriate social distance, which says it was probably heard most often by most people, enough to have it enter consensus, and be the form for "want"
