Toonman is getting ready to head out for a night with his mouse co-workers:
Toonman: “Alright, Spot! I’m out for a boys / girls / nonbinary mouse night with my work friends. Take care of the place while I’m gone! Love you!”
Spot: “Bark!”
Toonman leaves the apartment, and closes the door. But he pats himself down, and realizes he forgot the keys.
He walks back into the apartment, and Spot has a poker game running with six other dogs.
Spot: “Bark!”
Toonman: “What do you mean ‘I’m home early?!’ Did you plan this?!”

Nova Adventures #60
Max’s tiny son is living a normal day in Toon World:
Toonman: “Alright. I got my suit, hat, and my suitcase. That’s all my worldly possessions. I hope I’m ready for my job interview.”
Spot the Dog: “Bark!”
Toonman: “I know you can’t really talk, but it’s really encouraging that you give me some level of encouragement.”
Spot the Dog: “Bark!”
Toonman: “You’re right! I’m worth it! And if you believe in me, then I can believe in myself!”
Spot the Dog: “Bark!”
Toonman: “What do you mean you have an idea?”
One hour later.
Manager Mouse: “I see that you came with an in-person reference?”
Spot the Dog: “Bark!”
Manager Mouse: “That’s a glowing recommendation. I will certainly factor that into the hiring criteria.”
Spot the Dog: “Bark!”
Manager Mouse: “I never thought about it that way before.  You know what? You convinced me. You’re both hired.”
Toonman: “Thank you so much!”
Manager Mouse: “Although, I did have one question.”
Toonman: “Of course!”
Manager Mouse: “It says here that you’re a week old. Is that true?”
Toonman: “Yeah. I was born at the corner of This Way and That Way. I was drawn into existence by a chameleon in a Hawaiian shirt.”
Manager Mouse: “I’ve seen stranger resumes. You’re still hired.”
Toonman: “Really?”
Manager Mouse: “No, that’s crazy! Most of us are picked up from Hole in the Wall Bar. We’re just looking for something to keep our minds off of the Alleycats. So we make stationary. Which, for mice, doubles as our top-selling item and also our lunch.”
Toonman: “Okaaaaaaaay. So…Monday?”
Manager Mouse: “Absolutely. I’ll fill out the paperwork right now. Well, I also missed lunch. So…Tuesday. Let’s do Tuesday.”
