i am the kind of fool who perfectly knows that hologrpahic paper looks the way it does thanks to a combo of stereoscopic vision + light diffraction, two strictly 3d phenomons, only to go "awww it doesnt look as shimmery and good" when i try to imitate it in 2d

#grey #rainbow #desaturated #light #geometric #seamless #now tho ngl i am curious about whether there are shaders that specifically are like #built to change the hue of shit depending of viewing angle #the way prisms and the like do #you can vaguely cheat with well built normal maps #but im not sure its 100ù the same #as in what i mean is that once i like #made a carpet ? and i put in the uhhh base colour the normal #and it was p funny #bc it seemed to change colour depending of view angle #but it essentially was a trick akin to uhh #v similar to anamorphic illusions #bc from one pov the carpet would be green #and another pink for example #simply bc youd have some parts face you and itd hid the back/sides w other colours #still. its not. holo yknow. if you saw it from top #the illusion of a colour changing carpet broke
