My haxorus recently evolved and has begun getting way too aggressive with pokemon (and even humans) of the same gender, getting very protective of me, even when the situation doesn't call for it, going as far as to try to scare away potential love interests or even nurse joys. Is this a dragon type thing? Or perhaps an species thing? Would love some of your wise advice on what's happening or what can be done!
It may very well be just a jealousy thing. Something like “This is my trainer, you cannot have them, I love them and will not share.” This is actually very common in many pokemon no matter the typing. Haxorus are known to be territorial, and you may be something your pokmeon considers territory. At this point, you need to sit down with your pokemon and explain why this is bad behavior, and cannot continue. You may even have to look into a behavioral trainer.
Best of luck!
