The only thing that bothered me was Piper dissing Percy lol like for real she didn't even know him like that lol. The other stuff was kind of expected to me because he had to kind of rush the new characters development because he was dealing with more characters to write and less time to write them because the hoo books were probably I bit harder to write with the multiple perspectives. Plus if Pipers didn't have charm speak Her character wouldn’t have anything particularly special about her as far as powers go of the new characters. I really can’t comment on the rest because I have yet to read the last two books in the hoo series

Yes, but none of the new characters needed anything flashy to make them likable. In fact, that made me like them less.

Piper didn’t need charmspeak, so long as she was portrayed as determined and wanting to grow as a person.

Leo didn’t need to be able to light himself on fire (though it is certainly cool) to make him likable when he had sarcasm and was just a funny guy.

Hazel didn’t need to see through the mist when she was already one of the two living children of Hades.

But I do agree that Rick probably went overkill on the new characters because he wanted people to like them. I also haven’t read the last book, but I haven’t really heard great things about it.

I think the moment Piper dissed Percy was the moment I was never going to be able to BroTP them or like Piper as much as I do some of the other.
