ok so tl;dr, anith is an undead warrior who is relentlessly hunting down peb's also-undead ex. peb also has enough catholic guilt to kill the pope

anith is a Crag, which is a species of rocklike humanoids with unusually high magic resistance/tolerance, who do not have traditional genders due to being. yknow. rocks. instead their pronouns and gender roles are decided based on their societal roles, and this is reflected in their names. i.e. anith PEBsen uses peb/pebs, the pronouns of a young scientist/scholar.

this is because peb started out as a geologist studying magical rocks with the Researcher's Guild- the first crag there in 200 years. anith was quiet, reserved, and considered somewhat rude due to cultural differences, and only really had one friend, emmyn (human magi-biologist).

emmyn and anith were assigned to set up a research base on a small island, and there emmyn discovered a magical crystal. anith warned her against messing with it, but emmyn... never really listened to anith anyways, and didn't start then.

the crystal corrupted emmyn with magic overload (which anith was naturally more resistant to), the two fought, and anith died in the struggle. once this happened, the grief-stricken emmyn encased anith in crystal, hoping to bring peb back to life using the crystal's power. this worked, and both turned out both alive and immortal, with anith being permanently incorporated into the crystal hivemind.

now, anith was Not Happy about this development- peb hadn't minded being dead, and was EXTREMELY upset at being brought back and made immortal, seeing both of those things (and now pebself) as an abomination against the natural cycle of death and life. it was especially painful because emmyn knew anith wouldn't have consented, would've despised being brought back even if it had been a normal resurrection and not this illegal jury-rigged experimental immortality shit, and did it anyways.

so anith officially breaks up with emmyn (they were a qpr), things happen that i haven't quite mapped out yet, and anith ends up as an extremely bitter and sour wandering knight who is fighting to remain pebself in the face of both external (crystal corruption- that doesn't just go away!) and internal (all-consuming obsession) erosion. and also learns to let go and love again and Live again along the way!

ok so for this one it depends on when you look at anith’s arc. bc if we’re talking post-resurrection then most of that time anith just wants to be Done with all of this. wants emmyn gone, wants pebself gone, wants the lumina gone- but none of that was truly possible, and anith knew it. even then though peb is still kind of banking on the hope that those goals Will be achievable one day. so i’m going to say that anith wants to 1) have never met emmyn and 2) to have stayed dead that day. and is dealing with that by throwing pebself at those aforementioned impossible goals. which is real healthy

skye you can Absolutely hear about my ocs. here’s a tl;dr for now

so right now, i’ve got 4 main ocs: emmyn (she/her), anith (peb/pebs), aria (she/her), and barry (he/they).

emmyn is a regular normal scientist turned mad scientist/would-be world conqueror, anith is a regular normal scientist turned avenging knight, aria is an amnesiac catgirl bard with strange and impossible powers, and barry is just glad to be here!

emmyn, anith, and barry are all infected by magical corruption coming from an ancient sentient crystal hivemind called a lumina. this corruption is slowly eating away at them physically, mentally, and emotionally. they are varying degrees of okay with this

emmyn and anith used to be extremely close friends, colleagues, and partners, until emmyn accidentally got anith killed and then revived peb by incorporating peb into the lumina’s hivemind. nobody was happy about this, least of all anith, and they are currently Epic Divorced

anith and aria are currently traveling together to hunt down emmyn, barry, and the lumina, and to destroy them all. also, finding aria’s missing memories is on their list of priorities but not super urgent at the moment.

i love barry he’s great. he’s very much a committed member of Team Evil (him and emmyn), but other than that he’s a normal chill guy, and also the only person here who Isn’t somehow involved in emmyn and anith’s catastrophic relationship issues. he and aria are friends on the down low, despite their differing goals.

Team Evil’s goals main goals are to spread the lumina and incorporate as many people into the hivemind as possible.

also i haven’t gone too much into it here but i want it to just be perfectly clear. literally All of emmyn’s problems are her own damn fault she has taken an active role in every bad thing that has ever happened to her. conversely anith has caused very few of pebs problems peb is simply the unluckiest person alive
