She Doesn't Like It In The Barn ft. Delphi Guerrero

Delphi hates it when she gets locked out and has to sleep in Merrill Wright's barn -- even if it is much nicer compared to some other people's, the creepy pumpkin patch outside never fails to keep her up. And when she does get some shuteye, she's plagued by dreams that follow her to the morning; from a fantastical Demogorgon that she immediately suggests to Eddie for his campaign, to a Mind Flayer with a body made from flesh, Delphi has no shortage of nightmares whenever she knocks on Merrill's door and gets met with an amused but exasperated smile. Lucky for her though, those monsters only appear in her dreams. There's no way Demogorgons and Mind Flayers exist in real life, not to mention the most boring town in the entire world, right?

season one: crashes in town, no idea why she's here or how she got there, lugs the entirety of her three personal items, wears her big puffy jacket everywhere because she's gonna get out of here anytime, right?

season two: so not out of Hawkins yet, curls are fading, clothes stolen borrowed from Delphi Guerrero's wardrobe because she doesn't have much money, actually it's not that bad to live here, but "still want to go back to my time, no offense, Eddie"

season three: takes up a job at Great Panda at Starcourt to get some money, meets Wren Bulan, crashes at Steve's instead of her corner at the Byers most of the time but doesn't talk to the guy, or Jonathan, or Nancy. Billy picks her up from work and she doesn't know how to feel about it

season four: leaves Hawkins for "home", comes back when the news of Chrissy Cunningham's death reaches her comes back odd, doesn't have the old bounce she had before, and more ghosts and regrets than ever, Jonathan Byers is more of a stranger than an actual one, Nancy and she have some sort of truce, Steve looks at her back with something in his eyes, goes back to her time

season five: comes back with fire in her eyes and a shield in her hands, hair chopped short for practicality, looks at the party like she knows something they don't, spends a lot of time with Delphi and Eleven to teach them stuff the others aren't allowed to know, mends her bridge with Jonathan, long nights with Eddie and Steve at her side, follows a trail of vines and blood to the key to ending the nightmares, becomes the soldier she's always meant to be

Gender: genderfluid, she/they pronouns

General appearance: pale skin that doesn’t tan easily, her mom’s eyes and her dad’s jawline, tomboyish clothing, cuts her own hair, a light dusting of freckles on her face, a band-aid somewhere on her limbs 24/7, dimples when she smiles

Personality: cool with strangers but a literal maniac with friends, doesn't like being called out in front of people, wild imagination useful for DnD campaigns, honest and loyal to the core, poet coded

Special talents: creative writing, photography, taking care of the family vegetable patch

Who they like better: Jonathan, Masis is closer to her dad like how Delphi was with hers, plus since they're more similar in personality Maisie feels like Jonathan understands her better

Who they take after more: Jonathan, she has his tendency to be distant with people she doesn't know, and his steadfast dedication to her loved ones

Personal headcanon: even though Maisie often uses the stories Auntie Raon tells her in their stories, they don't actually consider any of it to be as real as Raon describes it -- they just think Raon is insanely good at it and wish that she could write it down
