“ So many things went wrong in my life, and they keep on coming. ” (Random)
@thegreatstrongbow
"And so many good things are missed because they are overshadowed by the bad." Halrë countered calmly, silver gaze focused on etching fine detail in the dagger he was making. After a minute, he straightened up and turned to face the other elf with a raised eyebrow. "Good afternoon, Beleg. What brings you to visit the 'half feral blacksmith' today?"

Note
Having gone through most of his twins' younger years- and even now on rare occasions, soothing their nightmares, Halrë could understand that. He detached his sword sheaths from the now visible silver chains looped over and across his form, before leaning the sheaths against the wall. Sleeping in a bed with two massive blades attached wasn't his idea of comfortable. "I will and.. thank you."
"Thranduil, just a note of warning." He looked up from where he was now sitting on the edge of the bed, meeting the elvenking's blue gaze. "If you do check on me, don't worry if it looks like I'm not breathing. It's just no longer as visible as it once was."
“Is... is that really you?” | Ferne (Halre) / last seen at the start of the Last Alliance.
(rangers-are-cool)
He recognized that face. Oftentimes it came to him in dreams- or nightmares, gazing up at Thranduil with lifeless eyes from the depths of the dead marshes. But as the elvenking gazed upon the face now, The pale eyes looking to him now were not lifeless, but blinked as the elf stood there in true flesh and blood. It was a face he did not expect to see again, like all the others, his friends, his father. Thranduil had left them behind along with his princely innocence on the battlefield so long ago.
“Mountain.”
His voice was low, else he feared it might shake.

“ What I wouldn’t give to go back to the time where I had no concerns. ” (Elladan for your choice)
@twinstarsofimladris:
"If I could remember that far back, I might say I agree, Elladan." Amusement could be heard in a deep, time roughened voice but for a few minutes, it's owner couldn't be seen. Not until Ferne came out of his room, a wry smile on his features and carrying a shirt. He had been cleaning up after working in the forge overnight when the younger elf came in. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

Halrë Vatari
Halrë only ever knew Gondolin as he was too young to remember much about his actual home, despite having been born in Aman. His family came from a line of Blacksmiths/Weapon-crafters but they were secretive and often known as mysterious, for they tended to work alone. After losing all of his family through the years, he became more isolated out of his work, only really interacting with Turgon and Glorfindel.
A wanderer by nature, he returned from his travels at the request of his King to help primarily with the weapons for the Last Alliance. Not many actually knew what his true name was, for he went only by Ihain. Although he preferred working in the forges, Halrë was a dual sword user and his height meant that he often saw attackers long before they actually saw him.
"Sometimes being yourself is more difficult than expected, especially with no memories."
After Sauron's defeat, no one saw him again and it was often thought that he had died in battle like so many others. That was proven wrong in T.A. 830 when he was found near the Grey Havens with amnesia and nothing but the tools of a blacksmith on him. It was also documented by the healers that when asked what he remembered, Halrë could only shrug and say that all he recalled was fighting, gate of hell (Black Gate), an alliance of Men and Elves, before pain and just nothing afterwards. Although Cirdan recognised him, his name was lost to time and his own lack of memories. He couldn’t exactly go around being called Ihain though, so in recognition of many thinking that he was just a ghost at first, the Grey Haven elves called him Ferne.

Insight into Halrë (later Ferne)
As a child, Halrë spent much of his time in his father’s forge, learning the ways of a Blacksmith and Weapons-crafter. When not in the forge or being taught various subjects by his mother, he could be found wandering outside of Gondolin. Growing up, it quickly became apparent to his parents and the city guards that the young elf had been isolated by his height.
Yet even at sword training, Halrë stood out. Partly because he was much taller than the other elves there but mostly due to the length of the swords he carried. Reaching nearly 7 feet from handle to tip, they had been designed to be used by one elf only.
Halrë Vatari.
For not many others, including his father, had either the strength or the height required to handle such massive blades or use them effectively. Much to his amusement. Hence his blacksmith nickname and thus, the name that was used by all but his parents and the King, was Mountain.

Memories
An integral part of what makes a person. Allowing you to recall your past, the people involved, the places you visited. All helping to shape who you are. And yet... I have only the faintest of glimpses into my past.
Fighting, the Black Gate, an alliance of Men and Elves then NOTHING. Only many long years later, would I start to recall faces I once knew but now lack the ability to put names to. ~ Ferne Olorel

"From the conversations I've had with Prince Legolas and other elves from your kingdom, I can quite believe that. Perhaps. I have been avoiding getting close to anyone since I lost my partner." Ferne followed him, before sitting down by the tree as he wasn't bothered by the dirt. "They threatened to get my twin sons to annoy me until I gave in. But.. I'm also glad I came now."
[ GAZE ] : your muse watches my muse from across a crowded room. | Ferne / maybe neither have seen the other since the Last Alliance? | (rangers-are-cool)
The other elf did look somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t yet quite put his finger on who it was. Even though he mingled with the other guests, his gaze never left the other. @rangers-are-cool

@apaqualme :
Ferne eyed him for a few minutes but he couldn’t recall who he was. “I apologise my Lord but... I can’t remember who you are. Except that your one of the Valar.” He admitted quietly, looking away.
Did he regret giving his life to save those of his twin sons? Never.But now the newly arrived former blacksmith was uncertain if going to see his family was a good idea. Simply because the amnesia he had in life meant that Ferne barely remembered those he once called kin. Then again, he barely recalled who the Valar were so it wasn't exactly surprising that his fëa was at a loss.

Namo was waiting for him- not in an ominous way, but a nice way.
"Welcome, Child,"

Halrë snorted with quiet amusement, relaxing a bit at his words. “Who? You? I don’t believe that.” He teased softly, before dropping to sit on the ground and resting his arms on his knees. Them he caught his companion? friend? ‘s curious look and dropped his own silver gaze to his hands. “I do care though, Thran. Especially when half of the rumours involve me and how long it’ll be until you get tired of having me around.” He murmured softly, playing with a loose thread on his tunic.
“I don’t want to be the reason your reputation is ruined.” | Halrë

“I find it bold to assume that I haven’t already ruined it,” Thranduil chuckled, looking over at him with curious eyes. “I have lived long enough now to know what they say about me, but I no longer have it in me to care.”

The Gondolin raised elf chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Nothing too bad. Too many young ears about at the time and I wasn't inclined to ask questions." After losing Kirya, he had only really stayed on Arda because of their twins. He blinked and looked at his companion, looking a bit surprised. "I'm probably the least interesting person here today."

"The tips of your son's ears were starting to turn red, I thought the switch would be best. As for the Dwarves... That is where our opinions will differ. If it was not for Durin's folk, I would have died from my injuries at the end of the Last Alliance. And Orcs... They killed my partner and permanently injured my eldest son when he was just an elfling. The Dwarves are much more preferable to deal with." He ducked his head, hiding the darkening redness of his cheeks at Thranduil's words. "That's a first. Considering you're the reason I'm dealing with a memory headache."

"Thranduil, I've never even met the dwarf of whom you speak. The only one from Erebor I know and keep in contact with, is Dwalin and that's because I worked with Fundin long before the dragon arrived. I've.. never really thought about finding anyone else. Although the twins have said they would treat my new partner as family if I do find someone." He chuckled softly, eyeing the other elf.
"You could probably answer that better than I can. For a long time, I've been getting flashes but it wasn't until tonight I knew who you were. You may know me better as... Halrë. It was the only name I used when you were a Prince."

"We changed the topic when it reached that point. It isn't something Legolas tends to bring up in conversation so do not worry. Although.. the topic we switched to was about Dwarves and Orcs, so not sure it was much better." There was amusement in his voice, while he ignored the faint redness colouring his cheeks." A amnesic blacksmith is certainly not the most interesting."

Even before the Last Alliance and losing his memories, Ferne had been told that he hated coming to this sort of thing. So it was to no surprise that he continued that dislike.
Molten silver eyes blinked at the question, ignoring the burning stare in the side of his head. "I would appreciate that. Especially as it'll stop Elrond worrying about me." He added dryly, lips quirking into a half smile.

@kingofthemirkwoodelks :
Had it not been for Elrond and Glorfindel, he would still be hiding in his forge. Sensing that he was being watched, Ferne glanced up and paused when he met the elven king’s gaze. At first his expression remained blank as he didn’t recognise him.
A flicker of pain shot across his features moments later as some of his memories started to return. Needing air, he broke the eye contact and slipped past the other elf with a quiet apology for leaving too early. “Sorry Thranduil, headache.” Which was true as his head was hurting.

@antleredthrone :
Flickers, flashes and pain. That was all he had remembered for a long time until he was found by Cirdan outside the Grey Havens. Slowly as the years passed by, bits and pieces started to return to him. But even then, the tall blacksmith didn’t have all of his memories back and the healers had told him that he may never regain them all. Yet.. of everyone he remembered, it had been the former Prince, now King, who was least expected. “Thranduil.” From somewhere deep within his battered and worn soul, Ferne managed to give a weary but familiar rare smile to the other elf.
“I go by Ferne now.”
