my stategy for picking a random song was to pull up the 400 song long spotify playlist i stole from a friend i don't talk to anymore and take the first song it picked on shuffle. anyway it gave me Black Hole by boygenius, which i frankly cannot remember if I've ever heard before in my life.

anyway based on a single listen + a quick scour of the lyrics it gives me jason todd x isabel ardila vibes perhaps. the more interesting version of them that lives in my head.

J - Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr

oh this is hard. if i care about something you'll be able to tell because i would simply never shut my mouth about it. i think... team fortress 2, probably? it's the fault of a singular person i follow. not part of the fandom but i do look at the art & headcanons & whatnot with a certain level of fascination. they're endearing and the memes are funny.

a fandom that i'm actively getting into because tumblr made me curious would be all the green lantern lore (idk if this counts because i'm already into other dc stuff but whatever). esp hal's parallax stuff because the fanart i've seen was sick as hell and i got curious. i've been planning to check out kyle for a while but hal jordan and all the other guys are intriguing me in ways i don't think they would have if i wasn't getting that tumblr background radiation.

S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon

for kyle to actually make a living freelancing these days he absolutely has a massive social media presence. internet microcelebrity. his work in the comics seem to mostly be more graphic design adjacent, (like drawing radu's logo,) but given that he's specifically mentioned that he would go to the zoo to practice drawing animals i do think he'd be a furry artist. this is a niche he would find himself falling into. maybe he designs adopts maybe he just draws commissions of people's preexisting ocs, i don't know. but this man does draw anthropomorphic animals.

i don't really know enough about the jla to know who would be on the other side of this interaction. but imagine kyle doodling on a construct notepad while ignoring the debrief batman's giving the jla. and someone recognizes his art style. or in general all his constructs are designed in a way that suspiciously resembles the work of that one guy with 50k twitter followers.

i do not know what his fursona would be but it's probably something boring and generic like a fucking. idk. golden retriever.

Figured since I've never actually made one of these for RJ, I'd go ahead and make one. No time to shade, got comic pages to make instead.

Notes next to drawings say: Keeps sketchbook journal. Pack light for this trip. Ring on necklace from Icirrus City Festival. Layers clothing. Basic long sleeve. Permanently "borrowed" jacket from her Dad; still wears it after he died. Generally not very expressive.

The drawings are just for my reference. RJ’s sense of style is about as plain as can be expected for someone who has done a lot of solo travel and doesn’t really care what anyone else thinks. Layers and jackets, few accessories, everything has to have a function.

She brought two Pokemon with her on this trip to Hisui (she was supposed to only bring one). Samurott is her starter Pokemon from her journey in Unova. After some discussion N agreed it was probably a good idea to take Zekrom with her. Though she will only use Zekrom if absolutely necessary, since who knows what sort of problems would arise from their being a legendary in a different time/place.

Okay first we have the little bastards from the fanfiction “Look at them go” which is the main universe I use for my ocs. Where most of the JL is in their late 40’s-50’s except wonder woman who will just be there forever.

Amazo (no alias): The third abomination experiment to go by this name. An attempt at a recreation of the original Amazo android with an organic clone being by Cadmus. She was left behind to die in the lab while another more dangerous experiment wreaked havoc. She was saved by Hal Jordan who helped her pass as a normal human and live a normal life. (You know before he got possessed by parallax F for Hal)

Stag (Bonok Trejos): A former warrior for the Reach he still has his black scarab which he uses for his job as a bounty hunter and goal of being a general nuisance to the Reach Empire. After being freed from the scarabs control over his mind by complete chance and started making a life for himself since nothing was left for him back home. He picked up Amazo and Zion onto his crew in recent years.

Zion: Has a last name but ignores it and so should you. A phycology student and borderline conman who got tangled up with the criminal life on his unstable home planet of Kougar. This led him to meeting Amazo and Stag who were bounty hunters in the sector at the time and got roped into their group as their team braincells. Somehow a ring chose him and he is actively the closest green lantern to getting kicked out for non killing reasons at any given time.

Recluse (Kasey Fidel): A highly skilled chemist and dangerous meta human who has been under government care since her early childhood. Basically a walking bio-weapon the Recluse can kill you with any bite, scratch, or touch of an open wound. Her highly toxic blood is used to produce poison that would effect even the likes of Superman. Not to mention the chemicals she cooks up in that lab on her own.

Indie Game Spotlight: Black Crystals

If you’ve been following the #indie game tag, then you might already know what game we're featuring in this week’s Indie Game Spotlight. But if you've been blissfully unaware, let us introduce you to Black Crystals, an RPG that follows the story of Starsio, a human trafficked boy escaping captivity after a mysterious power awakens within him. Will he succeed in his quest to return home in this unforgiving world? 

We spoke with Hind Saoud who is the game’s creator, designer, writer, artist, programmer, and keeper of all things Black Crystals, to find out.

What inspired the story and the characters in the game?

The story of the game, while rooted in fantasy, has strong elements based on real life and the world we live in. I am a refugee and the idea of "Home" and what makes a "Home" has always been an interesting thing to me. So in the midst of all the epic RPG goodness, this is one of the central themes in the game. There are a few others, but I'll leave them to the player to discover. The main characters of the game were actually OCs in a story I wrote in Junior High. I liked them so much that I had to bring them back in a game medium. 

How did you choose the style for the game?  

When I was conceptualizing the game, I used to doodle mock screenshots of battles and maps in my notebook. I then used to scan them and load them as placeholder parallax maps into RPG Maker. As I was going through getting my coding done, the aesthetic of these hand-drawn graphics grew on me and I realized that a hand-drawn, imperfect, sketchbook looking style could work and would actually make the game stand out a bit more than if it was in pixel art (which I know nothing about). So that is how I decided that the game will have a hand-drawn aesthetic. All assets used in the game are drawn on paper, scanned, and cleaned/edited in GIMP before using them in RPG Maker. 

Are there any funny/unique stories to how you created a certain character?

My main character, Starsio, was a side OC in a story I wrote in junior high where a group of people from real life were transported to a fantasy world where they are tasked with battling an army of darkness. Starsio in that story was an Italian boy who was unable to speak. His dad gets kidnapped and it's up to the main character of that story to rescue him. Starsio's character in Black Crystals is very different than in that story from years ago. I like to think that he grew up since then and I find it amusing how a side character from a story I wrote years ago is now the main character in my game.

Are there any moments in the game inspired by a true story or an event in your life?

Absolutely. The world and story of Black Crystals is an amalgamation of my thoughts and muses about our own world. While the game has strong fantasy elements, its central themes are reflections of themes from real life and the world we live in. I don't want to spoil the game events, so you'll have to find out once you play the game! :) After the game is released, I will most probably provide more explanations about how the game reflects from reality.

What genre of game would you like to make next?

After I complete Black Crystals, I plan to make a simulator! It will be a Visa applicant simulator where you play as different visa applicants trying to get their applications approved. The player will have to go down the Visa requirement checklist and complete tasks to raise their eligibility.

Chapter 1 of Black Crystals will be free for Windows users on Steam and Itch.io, with other platforms to follow after. In the meantime, be sure to follow @blackcrystalsrpg for any and all updates.

so here's a sort of revamp of an older character: parallax black! she/her

i wont get into much about her yet bc im mainly posting her to like. get some feedback on the furry aspect of how im going about designing these story characters. so take this post as a prototype ref lol, kinda like i did with hero originally!

ok so heres the FINAL rendition of parallax! i went through quite a few changes with her design before settling on this x'D i had to sleep on it i guess

now she is completely furry. i am satisfied

i wanted to design what parallax looked like before she left soccer + transitioned!

before all that happened, she was a legendary player named roche raspa. she could play any position--even goalie--though she shined most when she was a forward/striker!

after she left soccer, she was trying to figure herself out, so she decided to kill two birds with one stone and transition while basically erasing her previous identity from the soccer world.
