Two years later, Rosalind comes for a visit and discovers their cabin burned to the ground. When she finds Sadie has joined a gang to seek revenge, Rosalind reluctantly follows suit. The last thing she expected to get was a family, and for them to change her life forever.

Got tagged by @charlotte-balfours-garden to do this tarot quiz for an oc, so ofc I did it for Rosalind. Idk who to tag so if you see this consider yourself tagged ig!

Rosalind got the devil, which was like the opposite of what I was expecting but hey! I'll roll with it.

Restriction is not so terrible a thing as you think it is. One must not always be shackled to be prudent. You could use a set of handcuffs in your life, my love. Shall I forge them for you? We could be tied together, you and I. Maybe then you would not want for so many things. Maybe if you were drip fed what you wanted, you would only focus on the next drip, instead of the wide world of things there are to want. You consume what you love, you terrify the things you want. You have chewed your way through your life and you are still hungry. The old woman holds out a key. The iron around your wrist is so very heavy. - rubysmithwrites

I also got carried away under the cut.

She is fourteen and the gun is heavy and awkward in her hand. It was not made for her. It was made for her mother, the one who has carried all the burdens. The one who carried the revolver too, until she placed into her daughter's hand so she would have something to protect her if the wolves caught sight of her while she was getting water from the river.

Something much worse than a wolf laid at her mother's feet now. His dead hand still held his own gun, something old and rusty, that she had watched him point at her mother. She dropped the bucket when she shot him. The water flowed down the hill and so did the blood from the man's head.

His blood is on her face too. She doesn't know why. Hadn't she been behind him when she shot him? It tastes like metal. Metal like the gun. In some years she will learn to like the taste, but for now it is strange on her tongue.

Later her mother will buy her a gun of her own that she will let her use whenever she wants. There is no need to save bullets. There are already boxes and boxes of them in the basement.

It is the first time but even now she knows there will be more. The taste for blood does not go away. Her mother tells her she had to do it. Her mother tells her everything will be alright even though her daughter is only fourteen and can already feel god's eyes on the back of her neck.
