Germany from Bavaria's perspective
found this gem on pinterest:
Tumblr media
Austria: brothers in spirit
Switzerland: land of the money bags and philistines
France: land of the arch nemesis
Belgium: land of french fries
The Netherlands: land of the trailers
Poland: Russia and Siberia
Czech Republic: Bohemia and Moravia
Berlin: Sodom and Gomorrah
Schleswig-Holstein: land of the southern Swedes
Bremen: Norwegian lowlands
North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse: land with the ridiculously small beer glasses
Baden-Württemberg: spätzle-eater-land and place with the revolt because of a few trees
Thuringia and Saxony: land of the overpriced highways
East-Germany: land of messies
And of course:
Bavaria: The Promised Land
Everything that isn't Bavaria: Prussia

"Anyone who wants to travel in the Mark [Brandenburg] must first bring with them a love for the land and its people, or at the very least, no prejudice. They must have the good will to find the good, rather than kill it through carping comparisons."
—Theodor Fontane in the foreword to the second edition: Walks through the Mark Brandenburg

Been obsessed with Hesse's state anthem called the "Hessenlied":
I know a land, so rich and so fair, full of golden ears and fields. There, from the valley to sunny heights, many dark, fragrant forests grow. There, as a child, by my mother's hand, I sat among blossoms and flowers.
I greet you, homeland, you magnificent land. Heart of Germany, my blooming Hessenland.
From the Main to the Weser, Werra and Lahn, a land full of blooming meadows, there shine the cities, that we all have seen, magnificent to behold in the light. There, as a child, by my mother's hand, I sat among blossoms and flowers.
I greet you, you homeland, you magnificent land. Heart of Germany, my blooming Hessenland.
❤️🤍
(The “Hessenlied” has been around before the beginning of the 20th century. It was rediscovered in 1951 by Hesse's Prime Minister Georg-August Zinn, who made it the state's anthem. It was to strengthen the solidarity among citizens of the newly established state.")

A Brandenburg diss track
You heard me right
Translation:
There are states where something is happening. There are states where something is really happening.
And there is Brandenburg. In Brandenburg, in Brandenburg, someone has once again crashed into a tree. What are you supposed to do when you're 17 or 18 in Brandenburg?
It's not all Chanel. It's mostly Schlecker. No wonder so many people are leaving Brandenburg. There are three Nazis standing on the hill. And they can't find anyone to beat up.
In Brandenburg. In Brandenburg. I feel so empty today. I feel Brandenburg. In Berlin, I'm one of 3 million. In Brandenburg, I'll soon be able to live alone. Oh Brandenburg.
Brad Pitt and Washington Denzel are in the Adlon. Achim Menzel is in the car dealership in Schwedt today. Oh Brandenburg.
Berlin. Hallelujah Berlin. Hallelujah Berlin. Everyone wants to go there. That's why I want to go there too.
In Brandenburg, in Brandenburg, someone has once again crashed down the avenue. What are you supposed to do when you're 17 or 18 in Brandenburg?
It's not all Lafayette. It's mostly Lidl. No wonder the bow doesn't fiddle anymore. In Brandenburg. If you see muskrats in the outdoor pool, you're in a nature reserve.
March Brandenburg. Brandenburg. I feel so empty today. I feel Brandenburg. There's so much to experience in Berlin. There are supposed to be wolves in Brandenburg again. Brandenburg.
Hillary Clinton is in the Adlon tonight. Achim Menzel can't find the car dealership in Schwedt. Oh Brandenburg.
Berlin. Hallelujah Berlin. Hallelujah Berlin. Everyone wants to go there. That's why I want to go there too. Let me through, I'm a surgeon.
I have to go to Brandenburg. Take some food with you, we're going to Brandenburg. If you want to go to the Baltic Sea, you have to go through Brandenburg.
