you know how Brightheart was named Lostface? I kind of took inspiration from that for an oc, obviously not as harsh or ableist.

The OC is named Duckpaw and he left his clan when he was an apprentice to join a group of nomadic cats that were near the clans. He is later kicked out of this group because of the leader of that group having a deteriorating mental state due to some brain damage from a fox and so he goes back to his former clan.

He is given the name Duckflight which doesn't really seem like a harsh name but there's a reason he was given that name. He was compared to a bird that leaves its home whenever things start looking bad and then returns to that home when the place they left to starts having things go wrong(like a harsh explanation of a migratory bird)

Duckpaw, you've suffered a lot of loss. Who do you think you miss the most? If you could bring one cat back, who would it be? Is it the same as the cat you most miss?

“Well, gosh,” Duckpaw muses. The cinnamon tom speaks softly; jade eyes twinkle with a sheen of wistful nostalgia. “I’ve been missing Mom and Grandpa with all my heart. Having either of ‘em back… that’s a dream come true.”

“But, well…” Now, his expression softens further, the way snow softens just before it melts. He closes his eyes, as if to hide.

“I dunno that I’d bring anyone back.”

Duckpaw smiles— a frail, wan thing— and gives a sheepish shrug. “Everything happens for a reason, right? And I— I wanna believe that something good can come out of what happened to them. That we all had to feel the hurt of losing them for a good reason. If I just bring them back, wave it all away, pretend it never happened…” Again, that little smile slips away. “Then why’d it have to happen at all, y’know?”
