Location: one of the unknown countries in the North Blue.

Timeline: after Donquixotes were identified as Celestial Dragons, and madam Donquixote fell ill.

Warnings: extreme life in landfills.

Usually, Kai and Roci played quietly together near the Donquixote family's shack, making something out of sticks and splinters they found nearby. Doflamingo kept guarding in the distance, making sure that no one approached them unnoticed. This day wasn't an exception.

He took an old book he had once discovered in the landfills and idly leafed through it for nothing to do. It was about devil fruits. Many pages were missing, and hence the book didn't carry much valuable knowledge, so Doflamingo was only pretending to be busy with something. He caught sight of a small article telling about a devil fruit in the pear shape, which allowed becoming a String Man.

"Who would want to be a human consisting of strings? It even sounds absurd. What a useless devil fruit," he mentally snorted and closed the book, directing his gaze at his brother and his new acquaintance.

The owl-like boy looked at him with his huge amber eyes, and Doflamingo thought he could almost see his reflection in them. Rocinante smiled broadly and said: "Doffy, do you want to play with us?"

"No," Doflamingo replied more sharply than he wanted and looked away from a sudden feeling of awkwardness that wasn't inherent in him. Since Kai appeared and became almost a part of their family, everything had become weird and unusual. Doflamingo thought he couldn't sneak anywhere from Kai's round eyes that looked like two large bowls with a liquid glass poured into them — so big and dazzling they were.

Kai got up and quietly approached Doflamingo. He stretched out a thin tiny hand, inviting the oldest boy. Doflamingo snorted contemptuously, showing with all his appearance that he wasn't interested in their baby games, but still, he took Kai by the hand and allowed him to lead him to the younger brother. Rocinante, barely sad, broke into a smile again. His all-forgiveness always annoyed Doffy, and he frowned — he was always worried about Roci because he thought such mellowness could be only a sign of weakness. However, silent Kai thrust some pieces of wood into his hands, and Doflamingo also began to make.

While he was building a small tower of wood chips, various thoughts were whirling in his ever-heavy head. Somewhere in the background, Rocinante was snuffling with zeal, and Kai was making strange sounds resembling hooting, but it was clear he was happy with his affair.

He thought wearily about having to play the role of protector for his parents and brother. Pampered by a well-fed lordly life, his parents couldn't adapt to the life of "people" and little darling Rocinante — even more so. Sometimes, very rarely, Doffy wanted to bury his tearful face in his mother's skirt just like his brother and complain to her about how bad life was, but he couldn't afford it.

These thoughts angered Doflamingo to the end, and he swept the resulting tower with his hand. It seemed to him that there was a giant black blob in his mind. He had often left such inkblots on his notebooks' pages earlier when his family hadn't renounced the title of nobility yet. It was so unpleasant that the boy forced himself to think about something else. Finally, he began to recall articles in the book about devil fruits. And suddenly, it dawned on him.

"Kai, did you eat a zoan, didn't you?" Doffy asked, and the question came out louder than he intended. The boys fascinated by their game shivered from suddenness. "Y-yes?" as if asking, Kai answered uncertainly. "I was so hungry that I stole fruits from a table. One of them suddenly became covered with a curly pattern right in my hands, but I decided not to pay attention to it..."

"Interesting," Doflamingo said slowly, carefully examining Kai. "Let me guess: you're an owl."

"How did you guess?" asked Kai surprisedly and blinked several times. His long white eyelashes resembled fragile frost.

"Moron, it's written on your stupid face," Doflamingo laughed, warming up from the realization of how smart he was, and then lightly poked Kai with a stick. "Don't hide anything from me anymore, okay? It's important. We should know everything about each other to be safe." Then Doffy turned to Roci. "And you — you have to examine what you eat attentively."

Roci nodded his head with such enthusiasm that Doffy thought it was going to fall off.

"How stupid you both are," he muttered softly and started building the wood tower again. As long as his mother, brother, and a friend had food for three days ahead, he could afford to be a child at least an hour.

He didn't think about his father at all.

Hi! So after personally seeing recent posts about Touya and his body count, I suddenly remembered this scene from the MVA arc after Shiggy awakened his quirk... (sorry it’s so big, idk why adjsjs)

So, it probably means nothing since the killings are already done currently in the story (regarding the 30 peeps) and I mean we are past MVA arc, but as I said I recounted this scene. So, I don’t remember much prior to this (I am so excited for the anime MVA,) but Touya’s phrasing of, “If our dear leader’s racking up bodies, then I’m going all in too.” Probably not important but I found it interesting since it seems like he wasn’t killing anybody beforehand (on another note I feel the whole Touya reveal was foreshadowed when it comes to what he said after with the “pacifist route” paragraph)? Yet again, I don’t remember what happened prior so he may have not started fighting yet but if he did fight people before Geten, I find it kinda neat that he didn’t start “racking up bodies” on the go. I feel it shows his standards of who exactly gets targeted by him, or something else, but I might be looking into it to much 😅

No I actually find that interesting too.

On one hand I find it adorable that Dabi actually bothered waiting for the cue from Shigaraki before "going all in", because it's clear evidence he actually gives a shit about the League.

On the other, it shows that while he may not hesitate to kill, it's not his first go-to choice.

Dabi is, more than anything else, Touya Todoroki--who feels for other people, and sees situations for what they are. He saw through his dad's choices as a child, he sees through society's bullshit as an adult.

Touya is very smart and his choices are usually ones that further his goals. So it makes sense that he would have standards for who gets killed and who walks away. Even though---killing is never the answer and he really didn't need to kill anybody---it's still very obvious that Touya is in there, deep down wanting to get out and leave Dabi behind.

Doctors officially confirmed my diagnosis based on histology results. Finally, ugh. I've been waiting so long.

Yes, it's indeed cancer.

I've already known that. Yet everything is clear now, and this fact soothes me.

Now I need further treatment in another city in a month or two. My financial expenses will increase again. But that's okay, I can make it through because if I'm tough enough to be a close friend of death gods and talk to them all my life long, then I'm tough enough to deal with everything else.
