oooh you know the great thing about this song? it applies to odnlb ladybug but also lila! and you know i love me some hero-villain paralells that blur the lines between their characteristics 😈

"Spend all her life/ Between madness and misery/ She's giving in/ To little pleasures when they're looking away" <- YES! poor ladybug has been spiraling in such a dark place for so long that it's become a part of her. indulging in that is like her little pleasure hehe.

"She's running out of lies/ She cannot run forever/ See the light leaving her eyes" <- this is how she feels about lila/monarque! who is indeed running out of lies and is being cornered as secrets are slowly being peeled away, and as her power consumes her. the light is leaving lila's eyes because she's dying, but it's also leaving ladybug's eyes bc she's spiraling into darkness.

upon listening to taylor swift’s new album i felt like vigilante shit was very fitting for ladybug in odnlb. thoughts?

i was thinking the same thing when i listened to it for the first time! and then i was like "maybe i shouldn't add every single song on this album onto the odnlb playlist because they'll think i'm just projecting." but you know what anon, you're right. the vibes are PERFECT.

especially these lines:

^very ladybug @ monarque. there's something so eerie about the acknowledgement by ladybug that monarque has messed her up and she's going to make monarque pay for that too.

^now this one is kind of sad actually. ladybug isn't being a hero for the innocent anymore. unless we cound adrien. but she's not trying to be his hero, she's trying to be the murderer of the ones who hurt him hehe.

this one is so soft gah. it's perfect for chapter 32, or at least for those 5 minutes of chapter 32 where ladynoir were actually together! i love the gentle hope woven in these lyrics especially "Moon has never glowed this color/ Hearts have never been this close/ I have never been more certain/ I will love you 'til we're old." they are IT for each other and this moment only reinforced it <333

i couldn't find this one on spotify SADLY but omggg the things it did to my heart. the piano and violin accompaniment was all this song needed to strike that sad, wistful, and sweet tone that colors ladybug's thoughts about chat noir. "And, you're close enough to lose/ Close to the point where you know that your mind/ It can not choose/ Close enough to lose." this one fits the mood of chapter 32 SO well aahhh. chat noir was right there and she couldn't even touch him :'( "And my heart was screaming/ At my bones/ I need you closer." aahhh! my heart is screaming at my bones too because this is exactly the way she was feeling!

don't mess with me boos i will add any and every carly rae song to the odnlb playlist if you give me a good enough reason. "Say my name (My name)/ 'Cause no one else can say it quite the same (The same)." lol this is v reminiscent of how lb was ACHING for cn to call her "my lady" only for it to finally happen at the worst possible moment. and then ahh the part "It takes me back to your September days/ I've missed you way too much (Too much, too much, too much)" & "And know that night I almost said I loved you/ (Loved you, loved you, loved you)/ And you almost said it back?" is SOOO collateral damage! those are the memories and good times they both want to get back to, and for a moment they had hope they could.

yes!! this is such a good one, it traces adrien's trauma like a geneology. he is made of his pain and of his father's sins & this song really does feel like it's talking about the agrestes

Speaking of Digital Daggers, there's another song of theirs that I'd recommend: The Devil Within. It is such a Lila song aimed at Adrien. It gave me CHILLS. Most of the lyrics speak for themselves that I don't even feel the need to explain why I think it fits. This song has Lila's name all over it.

this is suchh an adrien/cat walker/chat walker/chat noir song but omg this line really resonated with me: "When we blunder all I see/ is another thunderstorm/ brewing above the house of anarchy we share." like ahh how odnlb ladynoir is that?? the fight between them causes thunderstorms and paris is the house of anarchy :DD love that for them.

more odnlb ladynoir but this time it's ladybug's pov! the whole time i listened to this i was like yes, yes! the quick tempo and rapid fire lyrics are so odnlb murderbug lol. and it's full of perfectly fitting lyrics but this one stood out: "You are my darkness and you understand/ I don't want anything but your hand/ Just hold me steady/ Hold the frame/ And I'll shoot again now!"

now this one just fits both of ladynoir :') i can't even pick my favorite lyric because they're all SO fitting. "if i fall you will fall too" just screams their situation to me bc of just how star-crossed they are. the more hurt adrien gets, the more marinette feels it in her soul. and the more lost in anger and hatred ladybug becomes, the sadder sadrien gets too.

(the second listen made me think of adrien & felix too, but in a much more literal sense lol)

another one that really fits both sides of ladynoir!

this verse is so ladybug: "Loki is holding you now/ Under the moon above/ If a whisper could fly/ I'd fly to you, my love." loki being monarque, the moon above being a symbol of ladynoir's love (broken in chat blanc, taunting lb for the rest of her life). the whispers connoting yearning, the pain of all the things she wants to tell him not being able to reach him :'(( so sad

and then the chat noir verse: "I wish I could change your mind/ But wishes sometimes die/ It is hard for me to smile/ When roses bleed to cry." as much as he'd like to reach her, for them to pull each other out of their misery, it's impossible lol. love the bleeding crying roses imagery for him too, that's like a summary of his love.
