hi atlas!!! omg east of eden??? i fucking love that book fr the only book i was assigned in school that i liked reading PLS DO TELL!!!!? if u want to ofc:)

hi kat!! silly little fact, but east of eden actually has nothing to do with the irl book - i named the fic after a song by Zella day (i think?), then later discovered that it was also the name of a real book heheh<3 never read it myself but i saw it in a secondhand bookshop the other day, which was pretty fun^^ The fic is a marauders fic tho, centered mainly around rosekiller and bartylily!!

it takes place in the 70's london, with Lily as a very infamous crimelord and more or less tom riddle's right hand. the plot centres around her and pandora, who is a sex worker working for tom under some very violent circumstances (it's a pretty violent fic, be warned), trying to escape london and the criminal underworld.

the key to escaping is a pretty major drug deal that barty crouch senior initiates at the very start of the story, and which leads lily to stalk bcj for a thorough background check of his dad. The Thing is, though, that while we follow pandalily trying to escape on one hand, we simultaneously also follow rosekiller sweating their asses off trying to track down pandora and reunite the rosier twins (pandora and lily are both unaware of this). pandalily's secret ass lifestyle makes it pretty hard tho, so there's a lot of secrecy and trust and betrayal impacting the story, and everything is very messy between them. bartylily have a ridiculously onesided academic rivalry going on (lily is furious that barty is better than her, and barty is honestly just tryna smash), and the rosier twins are as batshit as they ever get!!!

tysm for asking about it!!! this is my fav fic to write, it's my *sits down on the floor, cracks knuckles* kind of fic, and it's soooo special to me!!! the first three chapters are posted on my ao3, and the fourth chapter is currently cooking!!! mwah<333

i don't wanna give too much away especially when it's gonna be out fairly soon BUT . u can have this snippy of barty and reg being one of the best dynamics in this fic

“Oh, save it, Barty. As if you’re not a lot worse than me. At least I actively try to act like a normal person sometimes.” “You have at least one mental breakdown in the car a day.”  “Yeah. Like a normal person,” Regulus insists, and Barty finds himself frowning slightly. Does Regulus genuinely believe this is ordinary behaviour? Really? “It’s not even your car,” Barty reminds him with both eyebrows arched.  That seems to make Regulus pause, who chews on the inside of his cheek while he tilts his head, considering for a few seconds. “Like a normal poor person,” he concedes with a tiny nod, and Barty snorts so loud he feels the stare of some of the people sitting in the table right next to theirs.  “Reg, c’mon, you’re not actually poor. I’m not even sure you know what being poor means.”  “Yes, I am! I used to be rich and then I got disinherited, that’s literally the definition of poor.” “Well, yeah, if it weren’t for the fact that your brother took you in and he has a pretty decent job.”  Regulus wrinkles his nose. “He’s literally a mechanic.”  “Yeah, but a good one,” Barty reminds him, even if it pains him. The only reason he’s complimenting Sirius Black is because the man himself isn’t present and no one would believe Regulus if he dared to tell. “Like, that shop is basically his, dude.” “Don’t call me dude,” Regulus huffs, mouth curling. “And no, it isn’t. He has a boss, who actually owns that shop, and whose family has owned said shop for generations—” “That’s why I said basically!”

OOOOOOH I JUST GIGGLED OUT LOUD i think their reactions would be . very fun and wildly different. like reg would be surprised at first and i don’t think he’d get it. like barty, he has this specific view of lily in his mind and he doesn’t understand how barty could’ve fallen for her in the first place and viceversa. they don’t make sense to him but he isn’t . mean or judgemental about it, i feel like none of barty’s friends would be (they’d tease him and take the piss out of him all the time tho, bc that man is Down Bad). after he actually Sees them together a couple of times he starts to get it. they shouldn’t make any sense but they do and they work surprisingly well together so . he stops questioning it at some point and is just supportive

james however. is Appalled. Baffled. Disgusted even. this might just be one of the worst things that’s ever happened to him. it’s not even about jealousy, he’s with reg (sorry it’s the jeggy obsession) and only sees lily as a friend but barty is his Least Favourite Person in existence. he already has to spend too much time around him bc he’s reg’s best friend and now??? now he’s with lily??? bc not only they get along but they’re also dating??? yeah no Fuck That

don’t get me wrong i feel like almost all of lily’s friends wouldn’t take kindly to the news at first (obviously this depends on how u portray both friend groups and their opinions of each other but to me . they never truly get along u know) but i think that they’d grow to accept it at some point. even if begrudgingly. marlene and mary at least. the jury is still out about sirius + remus + peter

but james??? oh he Hates it. and Hates it forever. he’s happy to see lily happy, yeah, but that’s about it. he’s the man who gets up in the middle of the wedding to try and oppose even if he knows there’s no stopping them (reg is incredibly embarrassed and hating his life choices and trying to get him to sit back down) (barty finds it absolutely hilarious and is delighted to know he’s causing james this much turmoil even after so many years) (lily is very much Done and this is exactly why she didn’t want to invite james) (but barty needed reg there and everyone knows that reg and james are a package deal) (anyway i digress)
