13. Who stays up late? Who sleeps the most? Does the other have to force them to sleep/wake up?

Who stays up late: Julian. He's an absolute fucker for it. If he's not staying up past midnight to "catch up on" (as if he's ever actually fallen behind) work, or out til ridiculous hours busy with various shenanigans, then he's keeping himself up anyway for fairly mundane tasks. Staying up late reading, or talking, or fucking but this is a sfw ask so we'll ignore that, or even just thinking, for hours into the night. Part of it is because he just can - he can function on less sleep than most, ergo he sleeps less. He doesn't enjoy doing nothing when he can think of better things to do, and to him, that's basically what sleep is. Part of it is wanting to put off having nightmares for as long as he can/have less of them. Being a bit haggard, having a small amount of blood in his coffee stream and having those dark circles under his eyes never go away is a small price to pay.

After they move in together, Rowan's usually able to coax him to come to bed earlier, though - sometimes by outright asking/begging him to get some sleep, which he'll do, because he hates worrying them far more than he enjoys staying up. Sometimes, though, he'll just look at them while they're sleepy/asleep, and decide that they look so peaceful he just has to join them. The nightmares never really go away, but they're easier to manage with both the passage of time and Rowan being there to comfort him when they happen.

Who sleeps the most: Rowan. Rowan absolutely fucking loves being asleep. It's his favourite state of mind. In his wild, rebellious youth he used to be able to pull all-nighters no problem, but now that he's """old""" he struggles to stay up past 2 am. And to be honest, he's very OK with that. Unless he's out having a night on the town, which even in a relationship with Julian isn't that often because of his discomfort towards crowds, he's very happy to be in bed going snork mimimi once it's past midnight.

The only exception to this is when he has nightmares. Rowan's nightmares aren't as frequent as Julian's, but they're much worse. (Think reliving burning to death and being dead levels of bad). He's basically inconsolable after having one, and is highly unlikely to fall asleep again for the rest of the night no matter what. He'll pretty much cling to Julian for the rest of the night, and actively fight not to fall back asleep if his body starts getting tired again. He's afraid that if he falls asleep, he might cease to exist entirely.

(A sidenote: Similar to Asra's magic being connected to the moon, Rowan's is connected to the sun; fitting for a pyromancer. One of the ways in which this manifests is what happens if Rowan dozes off in direct sunlight; freaky magic dreams. Sometimes he'll relive a memory from his past, sometimes he'll have some creepy vision that may or may not be precognitive, sometimes his patrons will speak to him via confusing riddle. Very annoying tbh. Let him nap in peace)

Does the other have to force them to sleep/wake up: Yes and yes. Rowan is not above dragging Julian to bed if he can't be appeased by their cute sleepiness or their cajoling. He knows it's for his own good, though, and god fucking knows he enjoys being bossed around by them, so there's never any bad blood over it. Even if it's a rare case where he actually has work that needs to be finished ASAP, Rowan can usually get him to begrudgingly agree to sleep now and finish the work in the morning.

On the flip side, Rowan's usually pretty good with waking up on time, because their body has basically hardwired itself for retail. As much as they hate it, they're usually awake and ready to get up by seven, so they can open the shop by nine. Julian doesn't mind their grumbling and grouching about being up early; he finds it endearing, and they'd never take it out on him. What's different, though, is when it's their days off. Rowan is very content to just laze around in bed all morning when they wake up on a day they don't have work; it'll be rare for them to get out of bed before the afternoon begins. Julian normally doesn't mind that, but it can be annoying for him when he wants to be up and about and Rowan is trying to get him to join in on the lazing, and it gets genuinely frustrating if he and Rowan have actual plans that their laziness is interfering with. Rowan hates upsetting him, though, so they'll usually get up (or at least stop bugging him) if or before it reaches this point.
