a while back I bought Guards! Guards! on a whim at Barnes & Noble. I've read a lot of the Discworld books - not all of them, just the ones I could rent from the library when I went through a Discworld phase in high school. and the ones I remember the most are the ones featuring the Night Watch, so I was like "oh this book is one of the Night Watch ones, I'll get it!"

and I- I completely forgot about the character Sam Vimes. he's like the protagonist of the Night Watch books, the ones I remember and liked the most, and I had COMPLETELY forgotten about him. not his name. his entire existence.

the only reason I can think of for why this happened is that I didn't really care for him when I read the books in high school. I liked Carrot better and thus my brain decided Carrot was the main character.

and tbh I stand by my brain's decision. Carrot is the fucking BEST.

#okay TECHNICALLY Angua is the fucking BEST #but my brain didn't determine she was the main character of the Night Watch books #btw looking back uhhhhhhh I think I've cracked the code for why Angua was always my fave #she's a badass blonde werewolf with a troubled past #holy SHIT is she my type #anyways uhhhh yeah I'm familiar with the Discworld books #but I haven't read all of them and it was A While ago #so a good chunk of the posts about Discworld that show up on my dash are only like. partially coherent to me.#I don't know if I read ANY of the books featuring Moist Lipwig back in high school bc I Do Not Know That Man #but also I forgot Sam fucking Vimes so #speecher speaks
